The Dermatology department at ELHT offers a comprehensive range of services for conditions affecting the skin, hair and nails. It is lead by 4 fully trained and accredited consultant dermatologists (skin physicians) who all completed at least 4 years of post graduate medical training prior to specialisation in dermatology.
Outpatient services are offered at Burnley General Hospital, Royal Blackburn Hospital and Rossendale General Hospital. A phototherapy service is operational on both the Burnley and Blackburn sites and in our dedicated department in Burnley we offer a 7 day daily dressing service for tar and dithranol therapy, as well as other complex treatments. There are inpatient services on both main hospital sites.
Burnley General Hospital has a purpose-built dedicated dermatology department . The Royal Blackburn Hospital also has a dedicated outpatient suite which includes a dermatology theatre, treatment room and phototherapy suite.
The ELHT Dermatology Department has established a high reputation for the quality of its training in dermatology and is the only District General Hospital in the country that has 2 full-time Specialist Registrars.
There is a large, dedicated, experienced nursing team who provide many nurse-led services, including the phototherapy service.
