I would like to pass on my sincere thanks tothe Doctor and Nurse for the great service I received from them today. Both were very kind and professional and made me feel very welcome. The NHS should be very proud of them. Many thanks to both.

from arriving at Accident and Emergency department in pain, being looked after thoroughly, and sent to the appropriate wards, through to Terrington, Denver and Sandringham unit where my care continued in the same compassionate way. considerate staff, explained my health plans with me, referred me to come back for my planned procedure, at the Sandringham unit. And given the best care by the consultant and the whole Team. I just wanted to say a big thank you to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

  4. Review titled Unprofessional

Rated 2 stars out of 5

After finding a lump in my neck, I plucked up the courage to make an appointment with my doctor who was fantastic and urgently referred me over to the ENT department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. My appointment was the 31/12/23, before my appointment time I had a nurse contact me through her mobile asking if I could come earlier due to a bit of snow that day, unfortunately I could not, I could just make my appointment time. Upon arriving I felt very rushed, the doctor who seen me very quickly dismissed my concerns, had a feel of my neck in general - did not acknowledge the lump I am concerned about. Told me in these exact words that I did not need anything cut out I did not have cancer and I was to take a multivitamin. I got blood work by another nurse and was told I would here back the following week but have not- I have raised this with my own doctor who also haven't heard anything as yet. Overall the "appointment" lasted less than 10minutes. I also suffer from anxiety and left with more worries than I went in there with. No thorough checks were done, the lump is still there, I am still having other symptoms. I am a mother and also have thyroid issues, I feel really let down by the treatment I received.

Dear patient, thank you for your feedback. My name is Charlotte Lawrence and I am the Patient Experience and Public Engagement Lead for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Firstly, I apologise for not responding to your feedback sooner. Secondly, I apologise for the poor experience you had with us in December. From your feedback I see that you felt rushed and not looked after as well as you could have by us. You did the right thing by coming in and having an appointment, and we would encourage you to do this again should you still have symptoms or concerns. I will be sharing your feedback with the leads of the surgical division so they can review and adjust their practice where necessary, to hopefully prevent this happening in the future. Should you wish to make a formal complaint or raise a concern, you would be welcome to do so through our PALS team who will support you through the process. Contact them via their email address: pals@qehkl.nhs.uk, or call them on the landlines: 01553 613351 or 01553 613343. If no one is available to take your call, please leave a message and a member of the team will respond the next working day. I am leaving the trust shortly but if you would like to speak to someone in more detail about your experience please contact Linda Woods via email linda.purdy@qehkl.nhs.uk. Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback, and I am sorry that you had the experience you did with us. Kind regards, Charlotte Lawrence. Patient Experience and Public Engagement Lead.

  6. Review titled My wifes first hospital experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ronald Fisher - Posted on 01 December 2023

We were sent to the QE by our local doctor. On our arrival at A and E my wifes pulse was taken and we were sent to a department which I think was S Dec. The treatment my wife received was caring compassionate and understanding from the lady behind the desk, the first doctor and then a wonderfull nurse . As we progressed through the day I was amazed at the truly exceptional way all the doctors and nurses showed such compassion and care for all their charges. Even providing tea and biscuits followed later by lunch for those who wanted it. Even my car parking was attended to. I cannot thank all and everyone of you enough it was truly an uplifting experience. Knowing that from her childhood my wife has been terrified of hospitals, I am so grateful for your kindness and consideration. Thank you all.

An emergency occurred on a Sunday evening while on holiday in Norfolk that necessitated a trip to this hospital. The staff were absolutely brilliant: professional, efficient, helpful and caring - all of them. The service was superb.

  9. Review titled after appointment secretaries are nonexistent

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Samantha - Posted on 03 August 2023

on 27 july I arrived at queen elizabeth ii for a referral to endocrinology. after a bit of a run around, I found where I was supposed to be. I was sent to "yellow" yellow sent me to "blue" and blue sent me back to "yellow' on the opposite side. I arrived early and was seen late. I was directed to give blood at the lab downstairs and did so. The following tuesday, 1 Aug I called for lab results as my surgery hadn't received them. It took a long time to speak with someone who advised the results were back but needed a "letter" sent electronically to my surgery, (midway, chiswell). I have rang midway today to get said results as I do need to call in my prescription (refill). midway hasn't received anything on my behalf. I don't know if the prescription has to be raised or decreased. I am forced to refill the current prescription. today, between myself and the operator for queen elizabeth ii, we called approx. 6-8 different numbers to secretaries and not one answered the phone. all went to voicemail. My endo. spec. was not mentioned on any of the voicemail messages. I don't know who the secretary is for my specialist or if she even has one. It shouldn't be this difficult if all positions are filled. certainly someone is trained to answer phones. last week when I asked to be included in the email (results to my surgery), I was given a flat out no! my blood, my results, my surgery, I showed up for the appt. and had blood drawn. why can't I know my results if they are ready? then when trying to leave a review, it won't submit because I capitalized the first word in every sentence.

  10. Review titled Fantastic staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Roger Martin - Posted on 14 July 2023

I recently spent 3 weeks in Bay 5 on Gayton Ward after falling and breaking my hip. I can't speak too highly of the care given by all staff - surgeon, doctors, physios, nurses, cleaners and kitchen assistants. They must often have been short-staffed but never complained or short-changed the patients. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone without fail was sympathetic, helpful and considerate. Two of the senior nurses in particular went about their work with an infectious good humour which inspired general goodwill and optimism. Last but surely not least, the catering was first-class and the food varied. ample, very well cooked and presented. Thank you very much, QEH and Gayton Ward. Roger Martin
