Review titled Thank you Carlingford Centre.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 May 2025
I have been fit and healthy for much of my life (now mid 70s) and was rarely unwell, so when I was told out of the blue, you need to undergo some chemotherapy treatments it's a bit of a knock back, thankfully I have never been a worrier. So if you are placed in a similar situation, take a deep breath and slowdown because I just know our NHS will do the very best for you as they did for me. I was treated at the NHS Southend Carlingford Centre where each and everyone of the staff made me feel at ease and cared for. If you're unlucky enough to go through chemo' you maybe somewhat surprised to see how many young and old are going through the very same experience as I have, it is also worth noting, the experience affects different people in different ways, so all the very best to you and a massive 🙏🏼 to the all staff working in the Carlingford Centre. All the very best, Bodycalming

Review titled Exceptional service from Pediatric A&E
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Andrea Boon - Posted on 12 May 2025
My 5 year old had severe tummy pains and sickness for a few days, we had a Drs appt but he felt faint whilst there so apendicitis was supected, we were told to go straight to A&E. Once his name was given, we were sent round the Pediatric A&E and had less than 2 mins to wait until being seen. The staff were so thorough and caring with him. After a few checks, they thought it could be gastroenticitis, so started him on anti sickness meds to combat this. They didnt want to take the chance of it still being apindicitis though so 2 doctors came to assess this just in case. After 4 hours of the anti sickness meds, and ruling out the apendicitis, he was visibly so much better. The Doctors, nurses and all the staff were so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for making a stressful time less stressful.

Review titled A&E
Rated 1 star out of 5

My partner and I went to A&E on the 2nd Jan,I took him as was a 2 hour wait for an ambulance.I was worried he was having another stroke and was told i had to go through A&E. It was 24 hours before he was admitted, thankfully was not another stroke I ,understand that their are processes, and maybe I was more distraught as his first stoke was not 'typical' but if the first time you are discharged and it takes 5 days to recognise yes you may be worried is it happening again

Underwent a MyoSure procedure today. I was nervous but the team of 3 were absolutely excellent in helping me through it. The doctor gave me absolute confidence in him & the nurses were informative & caring. I really couldn’t have been in better hands. Thank you.

Review titled Fantastic care throughout my pregnancy journey
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Georgia - Posted on 13 October 2024
I want to thank all the staff involved in my care throughout my pregnancy, delivery and postnatal period. Every midwife, nurse, doctor and HCA met myself and my partner with a kind smile and calm and caring nature. When attending triage all staff were efficient and put my mind at ease instantly. A very quick decision was made for me to have a c section and again each member of staff was calm and considerate, introducing themselves to me and making sure I understood each step. Following the birth myself and my daughter were in the postnatal ward for a few days. The care we received was exceptional from breastfeeding support to ensuring we were fit and healthy ready to go home. I can't thank the staff enough for their care throughout this time.

Review titled Frightening
by Alison - Posted on 09 October 2024
My son had a bad fall and was admitted by ambulance in extreme pain to A&E. Staff were not kind but I’d excuse this if the care was adequate. After 4 X-rays and 20 tortuous hours he was discharged with two cocodomol and told he’d get an appt for the fracture clinic .We practically had to carry him out .My daughter in law asked if his care could be transferred to our local hospital and was curtly told NO. After a few days we’d heard nothing so I paid privately for a second opinion. His elbow is almost shattered and will need an urgent operation .His care has been transferred to our local hospital and has already had urgent CT scan in preparation for the operation . Yesterday (ten days) days after his admittance to Southend a&e he got a phone call asking if he’d like a virtual follow up in a weeks time .Not sure how you examine someone over the phone for a broken arm. None of us knew whether to laugh or cry at this point .This is a very potted version of the full story but I’d love to know if the chief executive would accept this for their own family .Just appalling.

Review titled A&E service
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Brian king - Posted on 18 September 2024
I was unfortunate to have to visit A&E very late on the 17/09/2024for ongoing severe back pain for which i am undergoing tests etc, Upon arrival i was see quickly by the pre triage assistant, i was treated empathetically and with respect, once it was established the level of pain i was in, i was given strong pain relief within 15 minutes which was all i was really asking for. I do hope you can identify the gentleman who saw me around midnight at pre triage and pass on my sincere thanks for his understanding and professionalism.

Review titled GP and A&E Services
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Steve - Posted on 23 September 2024
11:30 am with Heart issues. Quick service in A&E until we were sent to the GP clinic. Not sure why. It would appear the letter we received was not taken into account. Over 5 hours later and the two doctors had disappeared for their breaks I assume. A full clinic still waiting. Why on earth are two receptionists required when everyone has such a long wait. Long intervals between patients being seen. The system is broke broke. And wasting money on staff seemingly with not a lot to do based on the level of services provided. It’s my perception that they just want to move you on to other departments and be rid of their numbers of patients in order to meet KPI’s. Really disappointed with the level of service received today.
