Been to visit my daughter in icu after she was transferred from Ecmo in Leicester and the room is absolutely freezing We sat in jumpers scarves and coats and my daughter had to have a throw from home as she has been freezing since being admitted. Not allowed to have a hot or cold drink if a visitor unlike Ecmo unit who kept us well supplied with drinks of every description and nothing was too much trouble You don’t come into hospital to freeze to death when you are a patient! Get that heating on!!!

Review titled Fantastic throughout
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by natalie holmes - Posted on 27 January 2024
I had a bad experience with Hull Royal on Wednesday and was then sent from pillar to post by other medicals. On the off chance I travelled to Scunthorpe yesterday and I cannot fault my experience one bit. I was cared for, treated well and every single one of the staff members were polite and helpful. I spent the day in the Same Day Emergency Care Ward. The way the hospital works and triages just completely makes sense and is really positive. I was seen quickly and despite being there until gone 8pm from 11am, at least my wait was constantly for the next thing, and not just waiting for the sake of it. I would highly recommend and would love to thank all for their help.

Review titled State of ward
by Julje66 - Posted on 08 January 2024
My mum was recently on the stroke unit at Scunthorpe and while her care was very good, and she made a good recovery, the appalling state of the ward was shocking! Broken cracked floors with tape stuck to them, curtains hanging off windows, grubby walls, chipped tables and lockers. Not a cheery, nice environment to recover in for patients. It's a stark contrast to the shiny new A&E. It's not a good advert for Scunthorpe hospital

Review titled Great practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I attended an appointment in gynaecology sun 10 dec. Appointment time 12.30. Arrived at 12.00 seen straight away. Receptionist, doctor, nurses so kind, professional and informative and made me feel so relaxed about everything I had done. I was leaving the hospital before the time of my appointment. Lots of criticism of NHS but any dealings I have had have always been positive. If possible please pass on my comments to all involved with my appointment and thank them for making a difficult day so easy

Review titled Very Good Service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Donald Rhodes - Posted on 14 December 2023
Attended Dermatology Outpatients for a check of skin lesions. The service at the clinic was very good indeed. Seen on time. All staff, admin and clinical, were professional, friendly and thorough. Consultant called in to check one issue but this was done promptly and without fuss. Thoroughly satisfied. The only unsatisfactory thing was the horrendous trial of finding a parking place. None on site and had to scour the surrounding streets and was nearly late. But for that would have been a resounding 5 stars.

Review titled Wonderful care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Lauren - Posted on 12 December 2023
I attended GAU on the 9th and due to complications ended up being admitted for a few days. All staff were so incredibly kind and compassionate. Nurses were extremely caring and considerate for not only myself but my partner too, offering him food/drinks and keeping us both reassured. The team have such a great personality and contributed to us remaining calm and relaxed throughout the stay. It would have been a lot more daunting if it weren’t for how kind and wonderful everyone was. Thank you very much to all!

Review titled Exemplary Consultant & Staff
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Christine Dale - Posted on 15 April 2024
I have attended the Endocrinologist Dept since 2016 for a condition to be monitored & eventually surgery Feb 2023. I can’t thank the Consultant enough. I always felt well informed about my condition throughout each appointment. He was approachable, very helpful, a nice manner & always very pleasant as were his staff throughout the past eight years.

Review titled Poor show

Recently had family in ward 17, Normally highly rate the care and compassion at Scunthorpe hospital but this time it's been an awful experience Family member went in with breathing difficulties, waited nearly 2 days to be admitted to a ward (obviously can't be helped) Once on a ward no communication from staff, no updates on health or any information in what was actually happening and what care was being received. Third day we arrived to find are family member had got a water infection.. having hallucinations for example seeing people that wasn't there and very confused to which we had to suggest to the nurses to test for a water infection as they just thought he was 'playing up'!!! We had nurses coming to do observation who told us 'this isn't actually my job I'm a band 2 nurse and it should be a band 3 nurses job!!.. just fills you with confidence... Overall attitude and respect to patients from staff was shocking

Review titled Caring staff in impressive new A&E department
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Elizabeth Gregory - Posted on 17 November 2023
I visited A&E with my father yesterday .We only had to wait about ten minutes before he was seen . At each stage ,from triage to having tests , he was treated with dignity and a high level of care . Despite being a very busy unit dealing with such emergencies each member of staff exuded positivity and professionalism in the new A&E environment which supported this atmosphere . Little things added to this overall feeling of care , in a rare quiet moment , when we had been there several hours , one nurse brought me a cup of tea and biscuit , a small ,welcome gesture that made me feel cared for too . Thank you to all the team at A&E .
