Review titled Good Nursing
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Judith Evans - Posted on 25 April 2025
The care I received from the nursing staff in particular was excellent. I attended the ED on 22/4/25, SDEC on 23/4/25 from where I was admitted to Albury Ward overnight. Everyone was busy but they all demonstrated care and compassion when I was worried. I was discharged home with a suspected pulmonary embolus at 2230hrs and told to return to the SDEC dept the next morning. As I live alone, I was somewhat concerned but the nurse on duty supported me, booked me a taxi and saw me into it showing huge compassion.

Review titled Fantastic staff
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Nicola Pryor - Posted on 30 April 2025
My stay in A&E was very long (14 hours in total), which was frustrating, but somehow it overall felt like a positive experience. Every staff member was polite and friendly, and it always felt that they were working as hard as they could to get everyone seen. I particularly noticed the compassion shown to vulnerable patients or those who were clearly in a lot of pain. I was there from late on 29th April and the receptionist was friendly, the Obs HCA was very genuine, the triage nurse was super efficient although rushed off her feet. The nurse who fitted my cannula was excellent. When I eventually got to see the duty doctor he was attentive and I never felt dismissed. He got a second opinion and even referred me to another department. The registrar from the surgical team who I saw deserves particular mention for his wonderful bedside manner. He explained everything very clearly and compassionately. Finally the pharmacy team prepared my prescription well within the hour time frame I had been advised of. Overall I was really pleased with my visit, although of course the wait was much longer than I would have liked. This could only have been improved by additional overnight staffing which I'm sure you don't have the funds for. Thank you again to all the A&E staff.

Review titled Such friendly efficient service fron the X-ray Department
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Barbara Lightfoot - Posted on 30 April 2025
Following a referral from my GP, I was given an appointment to attend the Hospital for an x-ray less than a week later. The radiographer had clearly read what was required. I was treated with respect and dignity. After the x-ray I was told when the GP would be receiving the report.

Review titled Fabulous folk in pre-op
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 30 April 2025
I went in for a pre-op today and both the healthcare assistant and the nurse I saw were fabulous. Both kind, considerate and capable. I’ve had various challenges with treatment at this hospital in the past but these two staff members restored my faith, and it’s great to see people excel in their roles

Review titled Amazing service from ambulance crew
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Stefanie Hardy - Posted on 13 April 2025
My partner had to call an ambulance on 8th April and the 3 ladies who attended were amazing. (Apparently i am not allowed to name them but two were blonde haired) Kind, knowledgable, empathetic, they were simply brilliant, cant thank them enough for their care. They collected me from Cranleigh early morning and dropped me at the Royal Surrey. They were training the younger of the three, and the respectful way the two more experienced ladies did this was commendable. I cannot thank them enough.

Review titled Exceptional care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jane Osborn - Posted on 15 April 2025
I brought my 94 year old father, to A&E yesterday, following a fall at home. He had blacked out and hit his head. The care he received, from registering, to triage and moving to a majors cubicle was quick and efficient. He was seen by a number of nurses and finally by a doctor. The nurses were all kind, caring and reassuring and took time to explain to him what they were doing. The lady doctor who saw him, once all his results were through was absolutely wonderful. She spent time explaining everything and had an exceptional bedside manner. She has a lovely sense of humour and is very caring and efficient. My father thought she was absolutely lovely.

Review titled Physiotherapy Dept
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Helen Manning - Posted on 25 April 2025
We are all too ready to complain but praise needs to be given when due. Appointment with physio yesterday, 24 April, feeling pretty miserable with ongoing problem. Physio, you know who you are, said she thought I should contact Rheumatology. She then left me for a few minutes and returned with my Rheumatology Consultant. I was amazed and so greatful. Someone thinking outside the box, being kind and helpful. Thanks are also due to my Consultant for seeing me without an appointment. I left the hospital feeling so much better after some great joined up thinking. Many thanks to all concerned. I am sorry I cannot name you according to your policy.

Review titled Extremely kind to my teen Autistic son
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 April 2025
Been to see ENT today with my autistic son who is 13. The Dr was very kind and understanding and explained things to my son. She was very reassuring with him whilst also respecting his wishes and treating him with respect. He then had a blood test and the nurse couldn't have been kinder to him. Taking him into a side room and getting a cold spray. I only had to say he had ASD and everyone just got it and knew what to say to him.

Review titled Great service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Pam Cranfield - Posted on 22 April 2025
I came to the Dermatology clinic last Tuesday 15th April. From the moment I entered the hospital I was treated with friendly respect. The lady on reception gave me very clear instructions to find the clinic. The nurses were efficient and friendly and the doctor I saw was very professional, helpful, reassuring and with an enduring sense of humour. All very impressive - Thank you. However, when it came to dealing with an individual in the parking office - totally different experience - he was abrupt, unempathetic and rude. I was having an issue with checking out of the car park, he accused me of not reading the instruction - which I had, but there was an element of contradiction. He told me someone else paid my fee - I asked how that could have happened and he grimaced, put a cross through the ticket and he said I did not have to pay. I was not in an emotional or stressful state, but many people attending hospital are and treating them in that manner is so poor and unnecessary. If someone cannot be empathetic - as everyone else had been on the day, they should not be employed in a position where they may meet patients and or visitors. Thank you to all the other people I interacted with - jobs well done!

Dear Pam, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience during your recent visit to the hospital. We take feedback from our patients and service users seriously and value the feedback you have provided. We are pleased you found our colleagues to be helpful and compassionate. We sincerely apologise that you found our Car Parking Attendant’s manner unempathetic. As our car park is managed by an external company we will share your experience with the supervisor to ensure experiences such as yours are not repeated. Thank you. Kind regards from Elaine Kavanagh, Matron for Accreditation and Patient Experience

Review titled Lovely staff and experience
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 17 April 2025
Hello, I attended A&E last Sunday morning (13th April around 7.30am) as my 7 month old son had rolled off of our bed and cut his head on the way. Whilst attending to him, my 5 year old daughter had a small fainting episode (first time). I shouted loudly for help and was thoroughly impressed with how quickly staff came to help, taking my son from me, attending to my daughter and reassuring me all the way. Both children then were treated as patients receiving regular obs and check overs by the team. The Dr on was very good, making her laugh and had plenty of time for us all. Nothing ever seemed too much and they kept us in the loop regularly with the plan for both children. Everyone on was lovely and I was really impressed with the efficiency of the team. I don’t recall anyone’s names but please pass on my thanks to a fab experience.
