  1. Review titled Poor antenatal care on Lewis Suite

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 April 2023

Absolutely terrible care on the Lewis Suite, which is a shame as the Labour Ward was brilliant cannot be faulted. Night Midwives were dismissive of mt contractions and provided zero support, was made to walk to the labour ward despite being 9cm dilated with zero pain relief. Wish I had the midwives name so I can make a proper complaint.

  2. Review titled Obstetric clinic chaotic

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 March 2023

From the moment I walked in, I was met with a rude receptionist who seemed to have no interest in helping me. The waiting area felt chaotic and disorganized, with patients milling around and no clear direction on where to go or what to do. Some comfortable seats wouldn’t go amiss either if we are waiting for hours! To make matters worse, the wait time was incredibly long, with no explanation or apology for the delay. I understand that obstetric clinics can be busy, but the lack of communication and basic courtesy was unacceptable. This was so different from previous experiences in ultrasound and maternity outpatients downstairs where staff have been kind, welcoming and helpful. The waits have been communicated well, and it’s felt very efficient.

  5. Review titled Amazing place to give birth

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 October 2023

I had my two boys in there and both experiences were great. My first was late so I had to be induced and even was not the easiest birth, they care for me wonderfully. With lots of knowledge and love. I was that happy with the service that I returned for a second time. Unfortunately on that occasion I had an haemorrhage, but the amazing group of midwifes and doctors that kindly took care of me made resolve the issue in no time and both, me and my baby, are happy and healthy almost a year since then. I firmly believe that the staff, the wards and the birth centre are top notch and I have nothing to say apart than thank you very very much for your amazing job.

Waited 6hours to see a dr - when I asked what was happening, staff were rude and patronising forcing me to self discharge and led me to tears. I've never had such a bad exp.

  7. Review titled Best maternity services

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Julia - Posted on 06 March 2023

I have been a patient of Queens Charlotte hospital throughout my pregnancy until the delivery and the care provided and staff in all of the departments I have been were amazing. My pregnancy was with some complications and they didn;t let any risks - I had as many appointments as I needed (and wanted) to have. All doctors and midwives were super nice, professional and encouraged to come and check myself/baby in case of any concern. They also arranged counselling for me in the case of a difficult decision (whether to do a procedure or not). The hospital is very busy and I happened to wait for triage at maternity services for hours (same for my elective C-section), but once they are with you, they provide the best care with the really great attitude. Midwives and doctors working long night shifts never showed their tiredness and have been extremely supportive, friendly and professional (maybe some payrise for NHS?)

  8. Review titled 2nd Baby Scan

    by Newmum2022 - Posted on 11 August 2022

I had my second Baby scan at Queen Charlottes hospital to show all baby anatomy and find out the gender, the whole time I had the scan i felt the Lady did not talk me through she would just say odd organs she did not inform me of the babies feet, she was poking me very hard to get the baby to move and now a day later I am in extreme discount and pain in my stomach where she had prodded me so hard. She informed me it was girl but at no point did she show me on the screen what she was looking at. As she could not get all images she told me to empty my bladder and come back. She then could not get a good image of the brain telling me to go for a walk which I did an then returned and when I went back my husband asked her about the sex again saying we did not see or understand what she saw was a girl, she was abrupt and said I have trained many years and I am 99% sure and this is all science so it can never be 100% accurate, which was even more unsettling, she scanned me over again and still could not get a image for the brain so she then did a internal scan which she should us the brain and we was happy with this part as she told us what was looking at. At the end of the scan she said again I have checked again and it is a girl but yet again when she did this she never showed us what she was looking at. I am extremely unhappy and saddened by how I was treated and as a first time mum who was so excited yesterday i was left very sad and in extreme discomfort.

  10. Review titled a positive birth experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 August 2022

I chose Queen Charlotte and Chelsea for my pregnancy despite it not being my local, and I would choose them again. The midwife team I had in the birth center were excellent. I spent several difficult hours labouring in the birth center. After a point it became clear that I needed to be admitted to the labor ward. The team managed this transition well and I got my epidural promptly. They were also sensitive about my mental health history and concerns. The team in the birth center were also good and professional. I spent 5 nights in the postnatal ward due to an unusual but non life threatening complication. The calibre of midwives in this ward was variable, however some were outstanding, particularly for breastfeeding advice. I went home confident about breastfeeding. It was my first birth. No birth is easy however I think mine was made more positive thanks to the quality of staff. Clearly there is a midwife shortage however for the most part, those at Queen Charlottes are extremely dedicated and professional.
