  1. Review titled Good care

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by C Smith - Posted on 16 May 2024

The waiting times are obscene and at night there is not enough facilities to obtain food only crisp etc which is useless there should be sandwich dispensers. Its not the staffs fault but better information needs providing to patients to know what's going on I was sat for hours and nobody told me any results until I was forceful.

Had to take a quick trip for an x-rax to A and E, extremely pleasant staff and quick turn around, I could not have been in better hands.

  3. Review titled Excellent

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jo - Posted on 21 April 2024

1 excellent I put excellent down because it was! Nothing could be improved at all. The 2 nurses were amazing - the consultant too. The consultant even took me to see an ENT consultant because he had a free appointment. I was in absolute agony when I arrived, but within minutes they gave me morphine & codeine. Really the whole experience couldn't be improved upon! One very kind man working there gave my husband porridge & tea! Everyone was just so kind & courteous & professional & caring. I couldn't have wished for any better treatment & care, it was absolutely excellent! Thank you so much to all at Macclesfield A & E department! Jo

I was so impressed with how quickly the friendly and caring staff at macclesfield hospital looked after my son. We saw 3 people (receptionist, triage and wound nurse) and all 3 were professional, efficient, calming and so so nice! Thank you to all of you for making a stressful situation bearable ❤️🙏

  6. Review titled Very mixed

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Jennifer Mackay - Posted on 14 May 2024

I have used this hospital 4 times in the past 18 months for my toddler son. The first (December 2022) was an unexpected one-night inpatient stay on the children’s ward. Horrendous. As I hadn’t pre-booked my food and have a dairy allergy, all they gave me for dinner was a dry baked potato and 4 chicken nuggets with ketchup. The cafe was closed. I was breastfeeding an underweight baby and was starving having been admitted at 1pm. Breakfast was 2 slices of toast (jam, no butter). My baby woke up constantly due to noise levels and temp (too hot then too cold) and I didn’t sleep a wink. It was icy outside and I tearfully told the nurses and doctor that neither of us had slept and needed help to get home safely (rather than driving over the icy hills to Buxton). None was available. I’ve never felt so alone and am still troubled by this experience. Second and third times were due to a stomach bug and an emergency admission due to choking. Both times we waited in children’s emergency for a few hours before being seen. This is a nice enough waiting area away from the chaos of accident and emergency. could do with a few more toys and access to food and drink though. 4th time was in April 2024 - allergy testing in children’s outpatients. This was brilliant. The waiting area is comfortable and well equipped, and the medical team were brilliant with my defiant toddler. However, major downside was getting a parking fine due to accidentally inputting the wrong reg no when I was driving my husband’s car. My appeal was rejected even though I paid £3.50 and can prove it. I have escalated to the ombudsman.

  8. Review titled Frustrating and upsetting

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Nicola Haynes - Posted on 08 April 2024

A close relative is on ward 4 and calling the ward for an update regarding her condition is impossible. If you manage to reach anybody with them hanging up on you they explain they will get a nurse to call back and they don't. I hope if a close relative of theirs is in the same position they do not experience this. It is very frustrating and upsetting as I have no idea how they are doing. I am fearful that they will not call me if she takes a turn for the worse. It is totally unacceptable. She has been in for over 2 weeks so it is not an isolated incident. I have tried at different times of the day with the same result. To add insult to injury they have lost her dressing and gown. This happened when she was in Macclesfield hospital last year also. Seems like they have a total disregard for patients belonging too.

  9. Review titled Nice people , terrible process

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 March 2024

Over 2 days my husband who has sever back pain was sitting in uncomfortable chairs for 18 hours waiting to be told there is nothing we can do - go home . After the 2 days - 1 MRI - a few mins contact with specialists he is in so much pain he isn't sleeping, you managed to make things worse not better. I believe the problem is with the process not the staff. You used the Same day treatment centre as a holding pen, the only people who had contact with him there were kind and sympathetic, but had no authority/expertise to assess him. The people who were assessing him, including at Salford Royal had no sight of the patient so were just making decisions on symptoms with no concern over how long the decisions took and the impact on the patient. You have designed the "care" out of the process. creating an unsatisfactory experience for the patients and I assume the staff. The medical "treatment" he received was an MRI and a few minutes of consultants time. If these had been simple dedicated appointments it would have taken only a couple of hours of his time.

  10. Review titled Wonderfully kind efficient warm friendly service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Ann P - Posted on 27 March 2024

Had a fall on Saturday evening and on Tuesday arrived at A and E with a painful, swollen and bruised right foot at 12.36pm. I now know I have a broken 5th metatarsal. Everyone from the moment we arrived was so very kind patient, professional and super efficient. From reception, initial Triage, to L at the next stage, on to X-ray ( didn’t even have time to sit in waiting area before I went in) where I was escorted back to A and E and then back to L for boot fitting and advice. I can’t thank everyone enough and really do hope that whoever reads this will pass on my sincere and warm appreciation. I consider myself very lucky and blessed to have had such excellent care and on a day ( 27th March) when the news says people are dissatisfied with the NHS , I want to shout out for what a wonderful job you are all doing and send a huge Thank You!!
