  1. Review titled Ward 11a South

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by Michelle B - Posted on 16 May 2024

I was admitted as an emergency to this ward. All the staff and I mean all of them from the porters and cleaners to the ward doctors were fantastic, some in particular but you're not allowed to put names on here which is a shame. The people who brought you tea and coffee throughout the day were my favourites, always with a smile and if you're in hospital a good cup of tea or coffee can make the world of difference to your mood, I can't speak for the coffee as I didn't have any, but the tea was outstanding every time! The nurses are fantastic, always willing to try and help you in any way they can and the ward doctors actually care about you, you're not just a case number to them, these guys work in a tremendously high pressure environment with some antiquated rules and regulations, but they are always smiling and ready to help! All of the ward staff, in any ward, in any hospital are the true angels of the NHS!

  2. Review titled Extremely poor communication

Rated 1 star out of 5

My mother (96)was admitted to the lister on Monday evening. My family and I have tried repeatedly to make contact with the hospital for updates via telephone. Now more than 36 hours later I finally spoke to a nurse. Surely when family live far away, someone could call with updates?

  4. Review titled Very organised and efficient service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My son had an accident in school and hurt his wrist. The X-Ray showed a fracture of distal radius. Straight after, the bones were re-aligned and his wrist put in a cast. A second X-Ray was done to check the correct alignment was achieved, which was the case despite some difficulties. Finally we had the discussion with the orthopaedic surgeon and agreed on the next steps (surgery). 2 days later, the surgery date was confirmed for 4 days after the incident. The overall process took 5 hours and was very efficient. The way my son injury was managed was excellent.

  5. Review titled lack of empathy

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Hi, I went to A&E at around 7.15. I was seen by a doctor around 9-10pm. I came in because I had bleeding and was 19 weeks pregnant. I was examined by the doctor who wasn't telling me anything until I asked. He said with no empathy or care that it might be a miscarriage or it might not. At that point I was still in shock and didn't expect to be told that way. I am disgusted in the way this was handled.

  7. Review titled The Loveliest Staff

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 April 2024

My mother fractured her foot yesterday and we went to Accident & Emergency. The nurse quickly located a wheelchair for her as she could not bear weight on it. We were then sent to Adult Urgent Treatment Centre where we waited for about 2&1/2 hours to be seen. Porter was lovely and radiology staff were too. Her foot was speedily x-rayed and she was seen relatively quickly once we returned to the Urgent Treatment Centre. My mum is a full-time career so the prospect of being immobile had been very upsetting, but the staff were all so kind and lovely. They listened to her concerns, helped source the correct medication and really put her needs first. We’d like to say a huge thank you to the team for being lovely.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was seen in outpatient gastroenterology by consultant. I was seen in good time, all staff were kind, and friendly. Consultant was excellent, so reassuring, friendly, kind and absolutely brilliant at her job. Have been to Lister a couple of times and always impressed. Proud to have the NHS. Thank you

  10. Review titled A&E Department is chaotic and frankly unsafe

by Debbie - Posted on 07 April 2024

Had tests done quickly then total chaos resulting in a 13 hour wait to be discharged. Poor communication between nurses and doctors and patients. An indicator board suggesting a three hour wait when for many of us it was an overnight camping out on rock hard chairs. Witnessed patient with head injury left overnight with bloody bandages on head, a patient in mental health crisis weeping, screaming. Why weren't they prioritised because no one seemed to know what they were doing. It was like being stuck in a time warped nightmare. I witnessed very sick people self discharging because they couldn't manage waiting any longer with no idea of timeframe. In all my years of working in the NHS this had to be the worst example of a service disintegrating and no one caring except for the patients
