  1. Review titled Car Parking

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Disgruntled patient's partner! - Posted on 12 April 2024

Terrible experience, the overly-aggressive Security guy told me to move my car immediately, as it was allegedly causing an obstruction, even though it clearly wasn't. I tried to explain that my wife is a Blue Badge holder and is really struggling with her mobility, she has MS and recently had a full hip replacement, but he shut me down and refused to listen! By law, a Blue Badge holder can park on double-yellow lines, as long as it's not causing an obstruction. There was no parking close to the entrance to the hospital, the main carpark is closed, there is zero signage and the hospital have clearly not prioritised disabled people, which is discrimination and not the way to treat vulnerable people! My mum, who has dementia was in the car and was very confused by all the unnecessary drama and commotion. A Hospital Manager rolled up in his Range Rover, told me to shift my car otherwise it would be clamped! Not a nice experience.

  2. Review titled Waiting time

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Critchley - Posted on 19 March 2024

This is in no way aimed at staff working at the department, it is in frustration of the waiting time for the appointment to take place once the referral was made to the department. I feel waiting 18 months to receive an appointment is unfair and damaging to a patients both mental and physical health. I was told when I regularly contacted the department that my case was none urgent, having not seen a doctor during any previous thyroid related issues I was unsure how they had the right to say whether my case was urgent or otherwise. Today I finally had my long awaited appointment to be told I need an emergency MRI scan, to find out what is happening. This to me suggests it is in need of urgent attention. I have also recently received devastating news regarding my fertility journey. Again, strongly suggesting the two are linked. This review is to highlight the need to address such long waiting times in the need to support patients future health concerns.

  3. Review titled Smooth service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Holly - Posted on 11 March 2024

Having moved to Leigh recently and not knowing the area, I was anxious on finding the hospital, the parking situation and finding the department I needed. Got the the hospital and it was well signposted, plenty of parking spaces and it’s free for 30 mins, I asked a gentleman the directions to the pathology unit upon arrival as he was ready to help and he directed me, I got to pathology and was seen and on my way home within 3 minutes! I couldn’t believe how straightforward it was.

  5. Review titled Attitude of staff member

    by firedn86 - Posted on 22 December 2023

My severely disabled husband had an Endoscopy recently and unfortunately it needed to be repeated. Another date was provided but we couldn't attend as we are away from home. We rearranged the date and on the day of the new appt my husband tested for Covid as he has been having symptoms. I immediately called the endoscopy unit to explain the situation and the staff member that took my call seemed annoyed and frustrated with me and had what I feel was a very unprofessional, stern tone, saying as my husband had two cancellations he couldn’t have another appointment and would need to go back to his GP. Not a problem for us to do this, but their attitude made me feel uncomfortable and feel that this person should not be dealing with the public if they are angry at work. I appreciate that the cancellation can inconvenience and waste resources, but if it is unintentional and necessary it’s not very nice for NHS staff to take it out on the patient. Whatever happened to asking if my husband was okay and showing a bit of compassion?

  6. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 August 2023

Your Review: Within 2 weeks of being referred by my GP I visited the Urology and Ultrasound departments for an examination and scan. Both visits were excellent, reassuring and informative. The professional care that I received from both services was top class and a credit to the NHS. Thank you so much

  7. Review titled No cohesion between test results

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Thomas Ratcliffe - Posted on 17 July 2023

After having trouble with my glans and testes I had scans and was diagnosed with a cyst and an hydrocele and I was placed on the list for operation , eventually I received my date and duly prepared and attended only to develop lack of confidence in the plan of operation and the negativity to my questions , I have received a report from consultant and the main Query about removal of cyst isn't even mentioned , I need to see someone again as I was so dissatisfied with the surgeon on the day I came home , was told everything would be ok if I did something, no good! I know my own body and how to use it , really disappointed with the service of urology department

  9. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Peter L - Posted on 16 June 2023

I went to pre-op assessment today (16th June 2023) as I have an ongoing kidney stone issue, all the staff were friendly, helpful and sympathetic to my condition, I had a few questions which were dealt with and then I was advised to head over to Urology for further help and advice, the staff in Urology were also fantastic and I eventually left the hospital feeling happy that my concerns and issues had been dealt with appropriately, professionally and with genuine sympathy, I have nothing but praise for the staff at Leigh Infirmary, I had to collect a prescription from the pharmacy on my way out, again this was dealt with in a friendly and timely manner, finally I bought a coffee from the cafe and the staff in there were also very friendly. Well done Leigh Infirmary!

What an amazing team in the Prosser White Dermatology Dept. Every single member of staff was helpful and very friendly. I had minor surgery, and was a bit nervous, but was put at complete ease - I didn't feel a thing! You are all fantastic! Thank you so much, for your care and compassion.
