Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Roy Mitchell - Posted on 29 May 2025
Today we spoke to a very good person on the end of the line with the initial T in ENT to make an appointment. She was professional, friendly and really efficient. We had a productive conversation and 2 appointments were made. Many thanks!

Review titled Cleaning
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I’ve been a regular visitor and patient of this hospital for over 30 years and I was so sad to see how unclean the hospital is around outpatients, I was in outpatients with my mother and we couldn’t find one clean toilet anywhere and this was the start of day 9am The hospital used to be spotless and well cared for, and being we’ve just come through a pandemic and not to forget d&v season, I was shocked and sad to see how low standards are now. I’ve also just recently been to Colchester hospital and it was well looked after just like our hospital was once before.

Review titled Amazing people
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I wanted to thank the A&E staff who looked after me on the 15th and 16th of May for glandular fever. The nurse who worked on the 15th of May until 2pm I would mainly like to thank, I have a needle phobia and when she took my bloods and put in a cannula she went above and beyond to calm me down and stay with me until I was okay, she was the most wonderful patient and caring person and I can’t thank her enough, I could see she was alone for her whole shift but she never showed her stress, I feel for the staff in this department as of course it is so busy and stressful, but she was incredible and made me feel so seen and heard, despite her doing this everyday she did not make me feel silly or dramatic (which I probably was!) so if this could get passed on to her I would be grateful. Additionally the staff the following day when I returned from 8pm on the 16th of May until late, were amazing, including the nurse who took my bloods again was so lovely, the nurse in the waiting room who checked my obs, the nurse who gave me steroids, the reception staff, all were so patient and made feel so lucky to be able to access this type of treatment and Individual care. Despite the NHS being so overworked and understaffed by higher up, the staff who work day and night tirelessly really make a difference and take their job so seriously making sure each person gets cared for despite how difficult situations can be. Thank you :)

Review titled Outstanding Service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Julie Coulthard - Posted on 10 June 2025
I was seen to by Dr E, locom Consultant Neurologist on the 10/6/25 at 11.23, he was incredible. Firstly, the check in service at outpatients didn’t work for me, as soon as I entered his consulting room he immediately apologised for this and also for keeping me waiting (I had only waited 15 mins). Dr E listened acutely to my concerns about my essential tremor, he also took note of additional information about an episode of tga, which occurred last year. He explained the difference between a tremor and Parkinson’s. He then did several tests and explained what he was doing. He then gave a detailed explanation as to the treatment which was available to me for my tremors along with alternatives. He didn’t make me feel that I had wasted his professional time and instead told me that the consultation was extremely important. Dr E then noted everything we had discussed and followed this up with a detailed letter of our consultation. The letter was incredibly thorough and completely allayed my concerns about Parkinson’s disease. I left the hospital feeling extremely satisfied with the service I received and trusted Dr E completely. The follow up was reassuring and again put me at ease and I now feel I no longer have to contact my GP about my condition. I would like Dr E to be thanked personally for the incredible support and reassurance he showed to me and also for the follow up letter I received. I might add my mother had a consultation on the 4/3/25 and a CT scan on the 11/3/25 in Urology and to date she has heard nothing. The difference between these two departments is quite unbelievable! Thank you so much Dr E.

Review titled Positive Experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had a very positive experience at ENT today. This is an extremely well run department with competent and caring staff. I saw a lady doctor who explained in detail the test results and allowed me to look at the screen. I came away with a clear idea of the options available to me and will be advised of a follow up appointment

Review titled Excellent care of 91 year old mum
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Sandra Mitchell - Posted on 28 April 2025
From Paramedics to release mum was treated with such care and respect. Paramedics and A&E were amazing, Sproughton and Stour wards were so good with her. If anything could be improved service 111 was overly officious and showed their frustration in their voice and responses. You do an amazing job. Mum thoroughly enjoyed the food and the little touches like fruit and books outside the ward sections. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
