  1. Review titled Amazing

Rated 5 stars out of 5

This is from my dad and my family. My dad michael bass is currently on ward 9 at freeman hospital and is on going rehabilitation from his stroke he had in January this year. Could I just say how amazing the physiotherapist and occupational therapist have been, they have brought my dad back from the brink of death, they have taught him how to live again, how to adapt and they have helped him from being bed bound to hoisted to being able to step transfer which us as a family and the doctors thought would be impossible due to the severity of his stroke. My dad is becoming more independent and more confident with the help of the amazing staff. This physio and OT department in our eyes are the most important people. Undervalued and are always behind the scenes but do the most important work. From the bottom of our hearts thank you, thank you for all your amazing dedication to your job without you this would be a very sad world. Thank you for giving my dad his life back and thank you for just being you. We can not get over the progress he has made and none of this would be possible without you. Not all hero’s wear capes.

  3. Review titled Wonderful Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I wish I could leave 10 stars for these wonderful people in Ward 10 who created a positive, caring, professional environment for all patients in their care. I felt very safe in their hands & in no doubt I was receiving the best care I possibly could. Everything was explained clearly. Every member of staff always had time to answer questions. If an individual couldn't answer it they would get someone who could, always giving you their time. I was never patronised which is very important as you are getting older. It was un uplifting experience being there created by the top notch staff which must speed up recovery. The food was very good too! Thank you all!

Was admitted for septoplasty to ward 10. Staff were so caring and and put me at ease straight away. The anaesthetics team were fabulous and from start to finish I was cared for incredibly well. I am a Trust employee and still totally in awe of our fabulous staff at Newcastle Hospitals.

  5. Review titled Efficient and friendly

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I attended the Day Treatment Centre for a spinal procedure. All of the staff from reception onwards, were friendly, kind and caring. I was informed at every stage what was happening. The whole process was very smooth and efficient. The building itself has a very calm atmosphere which is a lovely contrast from often frenetic departments.

  8. Review titled Really good consultation

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had an appointment with a Renal Cell Cancer Consultant at the hospital. It was a very positive experience. He was friendly and provided the information I needed to know in a way that was easy for me to understand. He took the time to listen to my concerns and helped me think about the options available to me. Only negative was I was sent to the wrong outpatients area initially - a blip in the computer system, but it was sorted out by a helpful member of staff

  9. Review titled Fabulous team on Ward 2

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Annie Kendall - Posted on 19 March 2023

Partial nephrectomy by robot assisted laparoscopic surgery for me was a good. Pain from that was just uncomfortable, a niggle. All credit to the surgeon and his team. I had expected bad pain after having a kidney cut in half, but from coming round in recovery up to this morning, day 7, it's all been good. Pain from the carbon dioxide gas inflation of the abdomen, Oucha! Now that was uncomfortable. My back & shoulder were so painful. It was bad, but the Ward 2 Team are fantastic and pain relief was there when I wanted it. By day 4 it was just uncomfortable, by day 5 a niggle. I loved hearing the Ward 2 shift change, the staff always greeting each other warmly and with many laughs and on occasion kind words of support and comfort, it raised my spirits everytime. The Ward had such a homely, family feel to it. At times I was scared, but I was never worried, the staff were attentive and feeling scared passed quickly. I'm a very active person, not sporty active, more can't sit still. I was able to leave the ward and go for a walk when ever I liked, this really helped my post op recovery physically and mentally. If I ever have to stay in hospital again the ward team there will have a really high bar to reach to surpass the care I received this week at the Freeman's. I must mention Ward 1 where I was admitted on day 1. A lovely team again and they really helped me to calmly wait for my surgery. The anaesthetist and his team, what a great bunch. I was definitely chuckling about something as I went under and I think I was chuckling still when I woke. All in all, stars to rate with, ain't enough in the sky for that. Thank you for looking after me, I feel great because of it. I wish I could remember everyone's names and put them all on here, but I'd be horrified if I missed someone out. Don't ever stop being amazing.
