Review titled Endoscopy
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Dean Blomfield - Posted on 11 May 2025
Had a bowel cancer screening kit through the door, from sending the test back to getting an endoscopy booked and having the outpatient procedure was around 2 weeks. Was well informed and looked after every step of the way. Could not ask for better care and can’t thank the NHS team enough for the help, empathy and care they show.

Review titled Incredible care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Susan Trytsman - Posted on 15 May 2025
I was diagnosed with bowel cancer a couple of weeks after breast cancer diagnosis. The communication between all the departments was extremely well coordinated in facilitating the treatment I needed. The surgeons and diagnostic team were professional yet empathetic. All aspects of my treatment plan were explained fully and all my questions answered and my fears allayed. I was so well looked after that never once was I fearful. The operation went very well but the after affect was a bit difficult and I must stress that the nursing care I received was amazing and everything that could possibly be done was done to affect a more speedy recovery which they accomplished with compassion and timeous humour. I made an excellent recovery which is down to their exceptional nursing skills both day and night. The facilities, cleanliness and comfort cannot be faulted. I would also add that the food was superb.

Review titled Exceptional care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Susan Trytsman - Posted on 15 May 2025
From initial screening to discharge the care I received was amazing. Patience of surgeons and nurses was incredible. I was made to feel that I was important and my feelings and insecurities were addressed sympathetically and mutual care plans were put into place. The anaesthetist was calming and I found myself relaxed. The surgeons explained the cancer results thoroughly in a language I could understand and discussed which treatments were the most viable and giving the best outcomes. Aftercare from the surgical team and the amazing nurses excelled in facilitating a speedy recovery. I would like here to mention the support of the breast care nurses who were always available to give support and aftercare and also that of the Macmillan nurses. Thank you Castle Hill hospital.

I was admitted on 19th Dec for a total knee replacement . I wish to offer gratitude appreciation and a big thank you to Prof S and every team member and the lovely caring staff on ward 9 Castle Hill Hospital. Despite especially the night staff at times being down to only two staff , each and every member of the staff were so caring and kind. You all work so hard and I just want to say you’re all very much appreciated. Nursing/medicine is not an easy profession but each staff member was an absolute credit to their profession. The physios and rehab team were amazing so helpful positive and encouraged with such confidence . Thank you so much and love to you all for a positive future. Take care

The people who work in the dermatology theatre are a credit to the NHS. Everyone who treated me did so with the utmost care and respect. Had a lump on my neck removed and never felt a thing. Everyone was polite and chattered all way thro the procedure. They Explained everything that was happening and could have fallen asleep, it was that good. Thankyou

Review titled Excellent Care Given at Castle Hill
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Dr George Brendon Thompson - Posted on 15 October 2024
On 7th October I attended Castle Hill for anterior cervical discectomy & interbody fusion surgery for which I can only offer the professionalism provided by all the staff that cared for me at Castle Hill. Previously I have not undergone any type of surgery & was therefore somewhat nervous & apprehensive. All the staff from Surgical Admissions, the highly skilled Neurosurgeons/Anaesthetist & the theatre personnel, plus the post operative staff on Ward 9, all collectively put me at ease at every stage whilst providing thoughtful & genuine care in every respect for which I am very grateful.

Review titled Cardiology
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Vanessa Teanby - Posted on 09 October 2024
I attended a pre assessment clinic in cardiology outpatients and a week later was admitted to the cardiology day ward. The pre assessment appointment was on time and the process was efficient with clear information given. When I was admitted to the day ward for my procedure my allocated nurse was friendly, calm and efficient. They explained every process and were respectful throughout. I really appreciated the continuity they provided throughout what could have been a stressful day. Their care avoided that. The procedure took quite a while and whilst the cardiologist carrying out the procedure was not chatty they gave me relevant information and were obviously confident and knowledgable. The radiographer and nurses in the cath lab were focused on their work which gave me confidence and afterwards took time to explain everything and show me the images. I am very appreciative of the care I received which was excellent. During the day my phone would not work on the ward and the housekeeper and my allocated nurse went above and beyond to ensure my relative who had waited for me were kept up to date and informed of my progress putting their mind at rest. The environment in outpatients and on the ward was calm and quiet. It was kept clean throughout. I was offered food and drink regularly throughout my stay. My only concern would be the information on the NHS app was not accurate. The waiting times were listed as 23-24 weeks for treatment. I was 33 weeks from referral to being seen
