  3. Review titled Poor booking and service

Rated 1 star out of 5

Called to book an appointment and they said to call in the morning of Tuesday. When asked for clarification on the possibility to book in advance, they said I have to call at 8.30am the morning of the day to see if there is any available slots. Asking again, they only book 1 week in advance and if there are no slots you cannot book an appointment - which makes it very difficult to see a GP. The service on the phone was also very brusk and poor.

Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry that you have not been happy with our booking systems. Normally patients call at 8.30 a.m. in the morning to get an on the day appointment. If it is not urgent then you have options of a pre bookable face to face or pre bookable telephone consultation a week in advance. I hope that you find this information helpful but if you have more questions please contact me riya.lindon@nhs.net

  5. Review titled Terrible

Rated 1 star out of 5

I attempted to seek help for really disabling long-covid symptoms at this GP practice which included symptoms of Guillain–Barré syndrome. I rang three times to make an appointment, and the receptionists refused to give me an appointment each time and asked me to phone 111. I explained that I had 'had' covid the month before, and that I didn't currently have it. But any mention of the word immediately stopped them listening. Was left in pain and confusion with no care and am still suffering today, under the care of a new GP.

  6. Review titled Poor appointment booking system

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I had to call the practice to book an annual pill check to get my prescription. Not possible to book this online, despite the website linking you to the online appointment page. Called at 8:30am on 7 December but had to call 11 times to get through to the intelligent queueing system. I then had to wait over an hour on hold to book the appointment. I was seen on 7 December but still no prescription text from Boots on 13 December. I called in the afternoon on 13 December but had just missed the 9am-1pm time slot for prescription queries (not published on the website). I called the practice again on 14 December to check if the prescription had been issued and the receptionist was very rude, telling me that Boots don’t always send texts and made me feel stupid for even asking the question. Apparently I should have gone to Boots just in case it was there. Overall it was an incredibly inefficient process for a completely routine prescription. Please could the practice make online appointments available at least for routine matters like this or even allow the booking of appointments in advance on the phone. It would also help if the practice could publish the time slots for different phone queries online (test results, prescription queries etc).

Dear Patient We are sorry to hear about your experience with our practice. For a repeat pill prescription you can book an appointment with our practice nurse and do not need to be in the queue in our system to speak to a doctor. We will be thinking about changing our voice message and we will update our website to inform patients that prescriptions are available 9:00am until 1:00pm. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Wimbledon Medical Practice

  7. Review titled Awfully rude staff and most incompetent Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

I had exactly same experience as review of Xray report as a previous reviewer. "10 days before review could be sent to Practice" then phone in, " You have to call in for appointment' "GP not available", "Call another day"; This has been ongoing since early October 2022; I I still haven't got the report and nobody from Practice has called up; Reception staff are extremely rude, arrogant and either have not had training or just wilfully rude toward Patients. They cannot have system whereby it is not possible to book telephone appointment in advance (patients are asked by Reception staff to call in the morning at 08:30 when lines open and when waiting times can be very high. Upon call backs, they are advised all appointments are booked for the day; For next appointment, patients are asked to call again next day and the saga continues; The alternative suggested to patients is they have to walk in at 8am to book appointment ! This is unacceptable !!!! Please dont tell me you cant book GP appointment in advance. Someone please put some sense into the reception staff at Wimbledon Medical Practice's Reception desk !! I still do not have access to my Xray report (thanks to their inefficient call handling system) nor can I book an appointment in advance.

  8. Review titled Can't get an appointment/Lost my history

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 September 2023

After moving to Wimbledon, I was forced to switch to a local doctor and Wimbledon Medical Practice was across the street. I am continuously unable to get an appointment, no matter how I approach; call, online, in person. Furthermore, my records from my previous doctor seem to have vanished. No medical history as a result of moving to this pratice. I have a medical condition which requires regular visits. I've had to go private now 6 times over the last year because of their convoluted appointment system. Fail.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry that you have not been happy with our booking system. Normally patients call at 8:30 am in the morning to get an on the day appointment. If it is not urgent then you have options of a pre-bookable face to face or pre-bookable telephone consultation a week in advance. When a new patient registers at a GP practice, the practice has to request for the medical records to be transferred from the old surgery to the new surgery. This transfer period can take 6-8 weeks for the local authorities to send it to us. If it has been more than this period then please email me directly, at riya.lindon@nhs.net and I will look into this. I hope you find this information helpful. Wimbledon Medical Practice

  9. Review titled Ridiculous system for follow-up of 'results'.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 May 2022

I had an MRI scan arranged really quickly and done in 2 days, 30 April (a Saturday!) at a local NHS hospital. The radiologist there said as it was a Bank Holiday w/e it might be 10 days to get the result. I wish it was - when I phoned the surgery (12 - 2pm the Practice 'results phone line time') I was told I needed to speak to a GP. But instead of giving me an appointment I was told I would need to phone next day at 8.30 am. I did this, made 10 calls from 8.30 and it was only at 8.49am that I got onto the system and told 26 in the queue and pressed for call back. I stayed by the phone and when call back replied, the receptionist said appointments (and we're talking phone appointments) for the day all gone, so phone again next day 8.30. Because I said this did not make sense, if GP wanted to speak to me they should suggest an appointment, I was told the next bookable phone appointment was almost 2 weeks time May 27 9am. Why was there not something available the next day or the day after that or day after that, so same week? I booked it but this means to get the results of my MRI scan, which the Practice presumably has on the computer, I will have to wait not 10 days but 28 days! I should be entitled to the results of my scan as soon as they are reported by the radiologist. I don't particularly want to speak with a GP on the phone and particularly if I have to wait 28 days. The scan is presumably some cause for concern, it was done by the hospital in 2 days on a Saturday - commendable but little point if at your end of the NHS system the Practice will take 28 days to tell me the result. All the while I am in pain, mobility reduced and could presumably get on a waiting list for a referral.
