Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you struggled to get through to use on the telephone. We use a cloud-based system, which sometimes goes down due to poor internet connectivity in the area or other unforeseen reasons.

  2. Review titled Shocking

Phoned at 8.00am today 22/02/23 for an appointment I was no.29 in the queue waited 40 mins call answered. “I’d like an appointment to see a doctor “ to be told we have nothing available and I’d have to ring at 8am tomorrow. But that’s what I did today abruptly she cut me off and said she had a doctor off and there was nothing she could do. I tried to explain again maybe a telephone consultation no nothing available. The one basic requirement of a surgery is seeing a doctor and they can’t do that. I think your life is in your own hands with this practice as they don’t seem to care. And your receptionist’s need there people skills sorting as being rude seems to be a trend!

  3. Review titled Excellent community physiotherapist

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sue Neilson - Posted on 18 February 2023

The community physiotherapist originally saw me at my GP surgery on 25 September '22 when he suggested a 12-week programme focusing on knee and core strengthening exercises to improve the symptoms caused by a meniscus tear on the right knee, sustained in August '22, which had left me unable to walk or drive for 2 weeks. Rest, elevation and ice were used for a few weeks after the injury occurred, but the knee was still weak. The exercise programme prescribed by this physiotherapist really helped and in 12 weeks got me back to managing 3-mile walks before the sharp pain started up again. Having met up again with this physiotherapist by chance in a local shop, I was able to share this information with him. He suggested that I make another appointment at the surgery so that he could prescribe different exercises. On 16 February '23, I was reassessed by him and given another set of exercises to improve leg strength and balance, which I am currently working through alongside the original exercises. This community physiotherapist is excellent. He listens to me and inspires belief, motivation and a positive attitude towards physical improvement without surgical intervention, which was one of my personal goals. Goal setting is an important aspect in this physiotherapist’s person-centred treatment. I aim to walk again with my walking group, which covers an average of 9 miles each outing. The new 12-week exercises that have been set will hopefully help me to achieve this. This physiotherapist has stated that I can go back for another appointment before the 12 weeks are up, particularly if I feel that I am plateauing again, and he will amend this current exercise programme. It's great to feel that an expert practitioner is there on hand, willing to help me get back to full fitness and working with me to achieve my personal goals. I feel sincere gratitude for all his time, patience, and expertise and cannot recommend this community physiotherapist highly enough. It's clearly not just a job for him, but a means to make a positive difference in the lives of his patients.

  4. Review titled Incredibly Dissatisfied

Been trying for 3 months now to be able to see my doctor and having no luck at all in getting a face to face appointment Told to make appointment with nurse practitioner instead for follow up on meds prescribed which are having no effect - no appointments available How are you supposed to get the help when it’s really needed. Absolutely devastating and where and who do you actually turn to to get the help you desperately need

Thank you for your review on the NHS choices website, I am sorry you have found it difficult to obtain an appointment. We do have pre bookable appointments with our ANP and pharmacists who can review your medication and prescribe alternatives if not suitable or ineffective. Both the pharmacists and the ANP can prescribe medication as its not always necessary to book with a GP as normally you will be able to see them sooner. We also have the extended hours hub and pre bookable appointments with our GPs online. I would be grateful if you could email myself to arrange for us to have a discussion on s.smith2@nhs.net Regards Miss Sharon Smith Practice Manager

  5. Review titled Awful practice

I have been trying to book a same day telephone appointment for over a week { still haven't managed to make one} there are no appointments to book online even though I was told there would be some on Friday morning . Trying to book over the phone is impossible , you are kept on hold for over an hour when you finally get through there are no appointments left. What are people supposed to do if they are unwell go to A and E this is what is happening .

Hi, I am sorry to hear you have been unable to get through on the telephone. The practice did have a new telephone system in November 21. This is now a cloud based system which should give you a position in the queue. The practice did have some issues at first as this was a new system however they have now been resolved. In order for me to investigate your complaint I would be grateful if you could contact the practice or bring in a letter for me with you full name and the telephone number your called the practice from to investigate further. Thank you Miss S Smith (Practice Manager)

  6. Review titled Excellent practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The helpful team at this practice are friendly and efficient. My recent visits have been conducted so thoroughly by the doctor I felt it warranted completing this form. I was impressed that 4 student doctors were involved during 4 of my appointments and I noticed their confidence grew during their period of training. Having some services available on site helps considerably, especially a Physiotherapist and also Practice Nurses who have attended to me both at the Medical Centre and at home during an emergency. These are the services I have benefited from but in Reception there are notices offering many kinds of Support Groups if required. Having decent services available locally at the Medical Centre means so much to people of my age (87) or indeed, of any age.

Thank you for your recent review on our NHS choices, I am pleased you are happy with the recent changes at the practice. We are always looking for innovative ways of working to ensure patients are treated within a timely manor. You have mentioned some of the additional clinical staff that are now supporting the practice in order to improve services to patients and improve access. We will still be working together with our patients in the Patient Group and looking at all feedback from our patients on how to improve primary care services in the future. All feedback is also discussed in our practice meetings. Regards Miss Sharon Smith Practice Manager

  7. Review titled Great Medical Centre

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I cannot thank Whitworth Medical Centre enough for their overall support during the last couple of challenging years. All doctors, nurses, physiotherapy and reception staff have been completely 'patient focused' with my overall health and wellbeing needs. Each health practitioner when spoken to or seen face to face have emanated a professional, caring, positive and friendly approach, which always made me feel listened to and valued as a patient. Whitworth Medical Centre as a whole is by far an excellent example of true patient care, and I for one will always be grateful for the medical support that I have received through some very difficult times. Thank you one and all, you're a credit to your profession.

Thank you for your feedback, I am pleased to hear you are happy with the practice services and staff. I will pass on your comments to the practice team during our monthly meetings. We have now added a suggestion box in the reception area and would welcome any feedback to improve services, which will then be discussed with the Patient Participation Group. Thank you
