Review titled Great receptionists
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Lorraine Grayston - Posted on 09 May 2025
I wanted to thank the two receptionists, at Whaddon Medical Centre, that I had spoken to on 8th & 9th May. Regarding Medications (PPI’s) and an H Pylori Stool Test. My query had started on Thursday 8th May, with the first receptionist. This receptionist was very kind and courteous. Her confidence was very reassuring and I left her with my query. The second receptionist called me on the morning of the 9th May. I believe she had been passed on my case and had an answer to my query from the previous day. Unfortunately I was not satisfied with this information . This receptionist was patient and helpful and she listened to my concerns as I repeated the information I had asked for. She then went above and beyond my expectations, to ensure that I was given more advice. So that I could submit an H Pylori, Stool Test, that would give more accurate results. Her patience and positive attitude made my experience less stressful and it possibly helped save the NHS a wasted stool sample test . I would like to thank both receptionists for their professional caring attitudes. They managed my expectations to an exceptional standard and I wish them a great future at Whaddon Medical Centre.

Review titled Inability to recognise red flag symptoms
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Loretta Bristow - Posted on 06 May 2025
Witnessing my husband trying to get an appointment with symptoms of extreme coughing and feeling breathless. Known by surgery to have respiratory issues. Not a regular user of service so this is exacerbation of his usual condition. Told no appointments left. Told to use 111. When he did this he got a telephone appointment with Dr from the surgery that 111 could arrange but for some reason receptionist could not!!!!! Continued frustration with contacting surgery also with a non serious issue for my own health. Service has declined in contacting surgery.

Dear Loretta Thank you for your feedback and your disappointment in not being able to get an appointment directly through reception, we do have slots that only 111 are able to access for on the day appointments following their triage, as they are ring fenced our receptionist are unable to access them, I will ask that our receptionist advise patients of this process. Kind regards Whaddon Healthcare

Review titled Terrible Comunication
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 01 May 2025
I requested a routine appointment for my child. I received a text telling me to contact his hospital doctor. I sat on the phone wait list for 40 mins only to be told that he was being given a routine appointment and it would come through soon. It is unacceptable that someone would receive a message that reads like no appointment would be coming, to only find out after wasting a significant amount of time that one would be coming. One extra sentence in my text would have been enough to tell me that I would be receiving an appointment. The person on the phone was also incredibly dismissive when I mentioned this fact.

Thank you for your feedback, we are unsure from your feedback if the concern raised is for a practice appointment or a hospital appointment, if you could contact us through the website we can then investigate further. Kind regards Whaddon Healthcare

Review titled Bad experience at Ravenscroft, Bletchley
by Susan Watkins - Posted on 14 April 2025
My GP, who I've known and been treated by for many years, escalated my issues with shoulder and knee to the 'specialist' at Ravenscroft. I was seen there by a smart young man who started the session by telling me off for having two separate appointments on the same afternoon rather than one longger appointment. This was a timetabling issue and nothing to do with me. He then told me off for having had two MRIs because they're expensive. How else were we to find out the cause of the pain? All he wanted to do was discharge me for both conditions which, strangely enough, are still ongoing and painful. For the shoulder he recommended going back to Connect Health for shock wave therapy. He kept repeating it and then shouted at me 'SAY IT!', which I did. I felt intimidated. When I asked about the knee, as it is very stiff and I can't kneel down properly, he said to buy a camping stool and carry it with me in case I want to kneel down at any time! How preposterous. I knew I wasn't going to get anywhere as he repeated that he wanted to discharge me for both conditions. I reluctantly agreed, having told him that he was being flippant - but he didn't hear that as he was continuously talking over me. The follow-up letter was poor - calling me both 'Mr' and 'Ms', whereas my title is 'Mrs' and erroneously said that I agreed to everything he said. I didn't, but he left me no choice. This has left me feeling very upset and has damaged the image I have of the Ravenscroft practice as a health care provider.

Review titled Kind and Helpful
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by mrs barbara a foord - Posted on 10 April 2025
Yet again, a problem easily solved by this practice. The staff on the reception desk are usually amazing. They are quick, helpful and human often going "above and beyond" I dont know how they do it when they are bombarded with questions and problems for their entire shift. Not what we have come to see as the norm in the NHS . Thank you so much

Review titled Late for an appointment
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 21 October 2024
I was delayed by traffic therefore over 30 mins late. However, l needed my bandage changed on my leg wound. The appointment gone, the nurse refused as she was too busy so I'd have to wait until my Friday appointment. I pushed the agency of my dressing change and was offered a bandage with instructions via thr receptionist in front of the whole waiting room. I realise I was late, but having to try and plead my cause and being met with a bandage and instructions loudly relayed was not god enough, or professional, or indeed caring in any way. I left saying that this was awful and poxy. I hope my wound doe not now become infected as a result.

Dear Patient, thank you for your feedback, if you would like to contact the surgery we can then look into this for you, as you maybe aware to change a wound dressing is a longer appointment time and can be up to an hour, this would then depend on our clinicians availability to see if we then accommodate any additional appointments. Thank you Whaddon Healthcare

Review titled Diabolical Booking process
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 24 June 2024
The new booking process is absolutely diabolical and not very inclusive - they are assuming everyone has the internet or a smartphone - my 80 year old parents do not and this has caused them tremendous upset....especially when you get someone who answers the phone who cannot seem to think outside of the process and offers no flexibility. I also had an issue in February when a receptionist decided my concern wasn't urgent - had to call 111, who in turn got me a same day appointment with my doctor (when I was told I couldn't have one) and it turned out to be urgent where my tendons could have ruptured without immediate action..... what is going on, used to love this practice.. :(

Review titled Useless
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Nim - Posted on 09 May 2024
We moved to this go after a terrible experience at another. They were great until they made a change to their services with booking appointments and registering new patience. We took our newborn to get registered 2 weeks ago and they have lost the forms! No recollection of us being there either. I also asked at the time of registering to book babies 6-8 week check up which was confirmed that they would do and advise the date in text. I called on the 6 week date and again nothing down they can’t do an appointment until 11 weeks!!!! And if I wanted to have one sooner to book via the website and when I went to book on the website I can’t as it’s reached capacity!! What a useless system and staff on the phone did not care either!! With a newborn and going through postpartum what a terrible level of care.
