  1. Review titled Best in Hampshire

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Helen Robertson - Posted on 25 July 2023

My Husband and I would like to thank you for such a wonderful service . We have been patients of Westlands M/C for many years and my Husbands late parents also had many years of superb service with you. We find it amazing when our friends complain of their respective Medical Centres of the difficulty in getting a consultation/appointments/ or even a telephone call returned. Westlands GP's and all support staff provide a superlative professional service and we thank you so much that in our later years now we have total reassurance that our underlying/existing and future health needs are in such good experienced and caring professional hands, we thank you so much.

  2. Review titled Over reliance of text messages

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 May 2023

They send you a text message which has a link to complete details / respond online - so you have to do it on your mobile 'phone. Deeply irritating. They also telephone you using "withheld number" quite often - again, deeply irritating. The staff I have actually met (Practice Nurses) are caring and efficient; Reception as with all things is rather hit and miss (I have experience of one very good and one less so). The website has a lot of broken links (e.g. medication / side-effects) I can't comment on the doctors as never had the opportunity to actually meet one of them. The staff make a lot of assumptions about what patients know (e.g. how to get a repeat prescription, or even if you actually need one) Overall, a lot of things are done for the convenience of the practice staff rather than the benefit of the patients.

  3. Review titled Uncaring

Rated 1 star out of 5

NHS online told to contact my GP urgently. So I did and found it very hard work and waited a long time for an appointment. I had explained my situation and it didn’t help to speed it up. I eventually got a hospital appointment. The hospital was brilliant and sent my details and medical needs to my GP with a prescription attached. I heard nothing from Westland so a week later I when in and was informed that email hadn’t been open so nothing had happened. Had to go back to the hospital for my prescription and have heard anything from the practice to date Shameful. Even my consultant shocked why it taken so long.

  4. Review titled Blood pressure readings

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anthony Williams - Posted on 31 March 2023

I was asked to send in 4 days of blood pressure readings on a special Hypertension form. I sent it back on the 21st. On the 28th they said they did not receive them. I sent them in again on the 28th. On the 31st they said they have still not received them. This system is not fit for purpose

  5. Review titled Great, friendly, attentive practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lesley Orme - Posted on 22 January 2023

I moved to the area in August 2022 and have found all the surgery staff to be friendly and helpful. From initially signing up with the surgery to booking appointments, the receptionist staff have been lovely. The services offered by the surgery is very good and I have felt that they are all care and are always trying their best. The staff all have a "can do attitude". I needed to sort out some medication and the pharmacist was very helpful and informative, with two follow up calls to ensure all was ok. Overall, my first few month experience at this surgery has been a very positive one.

Today we had to contact prescriptions on behalf of a friend. The prescription lady was cheerful, polite and extremely helpful despite being short staffed. Thankyou

  7. Review titled How not to make an "urgent" appointment.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

    by Bob Newton-Cross - Posted on 25 September 2022

I am in Pain; -with my history, probably a slipped disc. I seek an urgent GP referral because I know that the obvious next step is referral for an X-ray. I consult this website. The "Appmt Info" page goes to "Non-Urgent GP Appmts" -clearly not what I am looking for so I go to "Other Appmts". Here I am told -"to access urgent and non-urgent appmts -click here". I do. This goes back to the original page. I search the alternatives; - "Routine requests" goes to the "non-urgent" appmts page. The main website goes back to the "Welcome" page. I am told not to ask for a Home Visit unless I am housebound. I am not housebound. I am offered a "GP extended access appmt"- I do not want to see a GP outside "my" Practice. I am told that "Some bookable appmts are available on Tuesday from 0600". No wonder A&E have become overwhelmed when it has become so difficult to see my "nominated" GP. This Practice website needs to Urgently be reviewed to re-instate the option to request a "Urgent" appmt that is Not an "Emergency" - (when of course the Practice wants to send me directly to A&E).
