  1. Review titled Saved my life

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was seen due to cancer scare. Was dealt with promptly and they were full of concern and fast tracked me. I am now getting excellent treatment at the hospital and making good progress. The doctors nurses and reception have always shown me kindness. They should be given the respect they deserve and we have to deal with all of them with upmost respect for the hard job they are doing.

  2. Review titled The system to get an appointment is simply unbearable.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

You need to wait for over 30 min to see if you are lucky enough to get an appointment. If not, try again tomorrow, but if you are one of the lucky ones and a nurse or doctor is calling you, they just refuse to let you know when they are calling, so you need to be glue to the telephone for the whole day. If you miss the call, try again tomorrow... If you ask for alternatives the receptionist doesn't seem to care at all (why should she?) and they just hang up the call. Rude completely useless. They have zero tolerance to abusive patients but do we need to have 100 tolerance to this kind of treatment?

We are very sorry you find the appointment system unbearable and we would like to address the points you have made. We are a very busy Practice and there is always a virtual queue on the telephone system to contact us but we try to 'manage' the queue and we have several staff members on duty to process the calls however sometimes this still involves a wait. Our reception staff will advise you if your call from a clinician will be in the morning or the afternoon but they are not able to give you an exact time as clinicians may have to deal with emergencies and patients who present with multi issues. The clinicians will always call our patients twice. Reception staff are trained to offer alternative pathways for healthcare such as NHS111 or a Pharmacy or an appointment at a local Hub depending on what is appropriate. The media has been full of the NHS in crisis either due to recruitment of doctors and nurses or COVID for example and we are a Practice that has struggled to recruit new clinicians but we continue to try to provide the best service we can so being ready to accept a call from a clinician if you have requested one will help us to help you.

  3. Review titled Bad practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have used this health center for 6years, I moved from werrington 3months ago and informed them I have moved and they told me I can still remain registered with them which I did, only for them to take me off their register without any prior notice, my prescription was rejected by the pharmacy because the surgery told them I am no longer registered, I was shocked as these were life medication, I tried calling them and they told me they cannot do anything about it that it's all automated. I found this very unacceptable as courtesy demands I know, hence my plea for my medications to be atleast dispensed to me was denied. Knowing fully well it will take me ages to register a new GP service in my new area, they totally messed me up, thank God for 111 service who authorised an emergency prescription for me, as I don't know where I would be now. This service has no human sympathy, and their practice is bad and unacceptable. Definitely will not recommend them.

We are sorry that you have had difficulty with obtaining medication. At the time of changing your address, whoever informed us of the new address would have been told that you would be unable to remain on our list if you were moving to an area outside of our practice boundary - we would be unable to maintain safe health care provision if we continued to provide treatment to all patients who do not reside within our catchment area - this policy has been in place for a number of years. Patients are given approximately 40 days to register with their local service and are able to receive our healthcare within that time. At the end of the 40 days, an automated process will remove the patient from the practice list if they have not already registered at an alternative GP. I am glad that NHS111 were able to help you and hope that you have managed to source new services.
