I had a contraceptive coil fitted a the uea Medical centre and the staff were amazingly supportive and put me at ease. The procedure was explained in detail and they were considerate and kind throughout the appointment. I would recommend them to anyone else needing similar procedures.

  2. Review titled Super helpful staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I called on a Thursday morning with a suspected case of shingles and had a call back from a doctor within 15 minutes, super easy to talk and the doctor made me feel very supported and explained shingles very well and sent a useful pamphlet pdf, really helpful reception staff too. The prescription was sent to the pharmacy to pick up that morning even though I was away from Norwich at the time so was not my usual pharmacy.

  3. Review titled Positive Feedback

Just a quick message to say I’m very grateful for the high quality service I received from the team this year. I booked an appointment via the Nhs app one evening with one of the nurse practitioners for the following morning, which I gather may well have been a cancellation. Perhaps I was lucky! I’ve been experiencing a lot of stress in the past week as I’m prepping for a 5 and a half month trip abroad with my other half, for context! I cleverly managed to bash my toe earlier in July, so it was looking not too great and the nurse was able to reassure me it was not infected - with some long hikes in New Zealand planned it might seem a small thing, but it honestly was very reassuring! Similarly, with assistance from another of the doctors at Uea Med Centre I have been able to fully come off antidepressants, the same doctor also worked very hard to help me as best as possible with a skin issue. In what I’m sure must be a gloomy job sometimes, dealing with illness, I just wanted to let you know your work is much appreciated. I value a sense of humour, which the nurse had during my appointment this morning in abundance, communication was very clear too - not to be underestimated given the volume of patients your team assist with. I may not return to Norwich on return from our trip abroad, so if I don’t return to the Med centre before my trip - thanks very much and best wishes! I'm not sure why there have been so many negative reviews - I have been registered with this surgery on and off for 5-6 years when I was a student, and later a graduate - I have rarely had a problem, if I have done it has been dealt with as quickly as possible. I would encourage anyone thinking of registering to be patient, and understand that they are continuing to deal with continuing demand and have their processes in place for a reason!

  4. Review titled Why doctor’s receptionists have such a poor reputation.

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I received an email from the surgery, telling me I need to do a urine test before my appointment with my doctor. Today I ran almost 2 miles to the surgery, as a part of my morning routine, arriving at exactly 8am, as I was informed that was the opening time. I was met by one of the receptionist, who informed me the surgery did not open until 08:30. I informed her of my need to do a test and asked if I could just take a pot so I could drop off my test later. I was told that was not possible, and I would need to return after 08:30. I know now that the surgery was not open but how difficult would it have been just to give me a urine test kit?? The receptionist was there, clearly having started work and I didn’t actually need any information or anything to take up her time. Having been a Police Officer for 30 years, working with the public, being helpful usually leaves a far better impression than the ‘Jobsworth’ approach. It doesn’t take much, empathy seems to be missing here?

Sorry to hear you have had reason to complain online and give us 3 stars. It would have been better to discuss this matter with the practice in the first instance. This does sound unusual as we are very accommodating and having spoken with all receptionists who work for us (including the receptionist who was working on this particular occasion) and no-one has ever refused to provide a urine pot, even in this instance. It is important to note that we are not the only organisation within the medical centre building, and have associated staff working within the building - it could have been one of many that you spoke to at the door whilst we were closed who may not have been able to help. We do hope that you have a more positive experience when you visit us again.

  5. Review titled Outstanding care

I have a son at the university who needed medical care, but had not yet registers with the surgery. The receptionist was so helpful and reassuring and she really went out of her way to help. When my son went to the surgery he was helped to register and seen immediately. Immediate treatment has made a huge difference in the outcomes for my son. As a parent of university student, it is so reassuring to know that there is a team at the surgery who will go over and above to help. Thank you so much.
