  1. Review titled Not recommend this GP surgery to anyone

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 December 2023

When I visit this GP surgery for several times due to different health issues, they did not do what they needed to do. Once, they took my symptoms less seriously than I expected in the phone consultation. I was expecting the GP did something, like referral, but the GP said 'I would see you again later and check whether you are okay.' I was really angry with the way how they treat patient. Moreover, another GP did not explain why they were running some investigations or blood tests to me clearly. Luckily, I had some medical background to ask them questions and make sure myself understand everything fully. When I ask if I could do consultation on the same day I rang them, they turned down and said there was no available time this week. I also realised that there wasn't GP in the surgery every day. It is really annoying that I always finds it difficult to see a doctor. In a nutshell, I do not recommend this surgery and regret coming here.

  2. Review titled Poor experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 December 2023

Requested a gms 3 form to address current health concerns whilst I live on the university campus. (However, will be moving back to my home town in 4 months) I explained my reasoning for not wanting to fully register with the practice. However, the receptionist maintained that she knew best and that I should just travel home for healthcare. I had already explained previously that it would take me too long to travel back home. The receptionist then began asking me why I needed to see a doctor which I was not comfortable discussing at the front desk due to it being so personal and I don’t think that should influence wether or not I’m allowed to register. She then said ‘well we won’t have any medical history for you so maybe see a doctor back home”. I can understand her reasoning…. However, she was not listening to what I was saying. It is too difficult for me to travel back home but I will not be living in Preston permanently. I don’t see why the receptionist should be gatekeeping registration for the uclan medical center.

  3. Review titled Disappointing

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 July 2023

My first appointment was on 09/2022 and since then I have been waiting for a hernia operation of which I never receive news or a segment of my case. The previous steps were correct, but since 03/2023 I have not received any further news and I have already appeared twice and they told me to go ask at the hospital and at the hospital they told me to contact the GP. I go to the GP and they don't know anything about the operation. The receptionist was attentive, but even so it's disappointing that they don't know anything about your case and I've been waiting uselessly at home for months.

  4. Review titled Reception staff really rude

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 July 2023

I have been undergoing some tests for various issues. Everytime I ring the reception, I am made to feel like a massive inconvenience at this practice which isn’t how you want to be made to feel when you don’t feel well in yourself anyway. This gives me such intense anxiety that I avoid calling and would rather make appointments online to avoid calling up. A few weeks ago, the receptionist rang me and I asked if I can make an appointment, she responded ‘no you can’t, we don’t do prebooked appointments’ I was taken aback by this, as apparently this GP only do ‘emergency’ appointments now, which made me feel bad to take up an emergency appointment as my appointment was not necessarily an emergency. The receptionist persisted to be rude to me, asking what was wrong and when I told her, she said ‘have you taken any paracetamol?’ as if I wouldn’t have tried that. I then asked her if she thought It was worth seeing the doctor over to which she replied ‘how would I know? I’m not a Dr am I’ which is fair enough, but the tone in which it was said was so rude and I could hear staff laughing in the background, I work in healthcare myself so I get the pressures but it’s totally unprofessional, there is no service with a smile. I was also given the wrong details and when the receptionist was told, they didn’t apologise; they just carried on as if nothing had happened. Makes me so anxious to come to this practice.

I am sorry to see you have rated the Medical Centre so poorly and have had such negative experiences with our reception team. We want our patients to have the best experience possible, so I am sorry this has not been the case for you. The majority of appointments can only be booked 'on the day' because our previous system of allowing all appointments to be booked in advance resulted in an extremely high number of appointments not being attended, and therefore going to waste, when they were very much needed by other patients. We offer telephone consultations and face to face consultations with both GPs and Advanced Clinical Practitioners. If you would like to discuss this further, please give me a call on 01772 970079 or e-mail me at fiona.greenbank@nhs.net. Fiona Greenbank Patient Engagement Manager

  5. Review titled Unprofessional receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 February 2023

The receptionist that I had the pleasure of meeting was very short with me, she did everything but roll her eyes at me when I asked her to print out some paperwork, when I had an additional question, she told me she doesn’t have the time to deal with what I needed dealt with. I called beforehand to ask about my paperwork, they said just come in and ask reception, when I told her that, she said they’re not the ones doing it, so they should not have told me that. Why is that my fault though? I was just doing what I was told.

  6. Review titled Worst practice for students

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 September 2022

I am a student living in preston so I unfortunately changed over my GP to Uclan medical. Worst mistake of my life the receptionists are extremely unhelpful and rude. You are waiting for ages on the phone and when you finally get through they fob you off and tell you ‘call back tomorrow’ receptionist don’t know anything don’t even give you a minute on the phone. Also for prescription I pay for receptionist says ‘I can buy that over the counter’ I am a student just so unhelpful. Ridiculous.

I am sorry to hear you feel our receptionists are rude and unhelpful ... I will pass this feedback on to the team manager. Appointments are bookable 'on the day', so if you call and all appointments that day have already been booked, you will be advised to call back the following day. We really do try to offer the best service we can, so I am sorry you feel disappointed with the service you have received. 7. Review titled Very thin-stretched resources

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 July 2022

They seem to not have enough staff to treat all the students who are urged to sign up for the GP. They're notorious for long waiting times, for not calling when meant to (phone call appointment), canceling appointments as well. Sometimes you can't even call in, because they get so busy you just can't reach them to get an appointment. While I don't belive none of the staff is actually negligent or malicious, it's very frustrating to wait weeks for an appointment that then gets canceled. I would not recommend this GP, they just don't have the resources or staff to help all the people they let to sign in.

I am sorry to hear about your negative experience with the Medical Centre. The majority of appointments can only be booked 'on the day' because our previous system of allowing all appointments to be booked in advance resulted in an extremely high number of appointments not being attended, and therefore going to waste, when they were very much needed by other patients. Our clinicians try to call patients as close to their given appointment time as possible, but this depends on how the clinic is running, as some appointments can take longer than the allocated time. Sometimes we have to cancel appointments due to sickness, but we will always try to cover these appointments with another clinician if we can.
