Review titled Errors in care made and very difficult to get appointments
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 10 June 2025
GPs are good, but you will never see or speak the same one twice so very difficult to get good continuity of care. Very difficult to get a face to face appointment. Failed to spot a concern in my ECG test in January resulting in a delayed referral to Cardiology. Impossible to book appointments at reasonable hours - I was offered a 7am appointment that was cancelled after I had arrived at the surgery. This appointment was a follow up to surgery I had had six months previously and I am now having to travel their surgery outside of Buckingham so I can be seen in a reasonable timeframe. Very long waiting times.

Dear patient, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. My name is Emma Vye, and I’m the Managing Director at The Swan Practice. I’m really sorry to hear about your recent experiences. It’s clear that you’ve faced a number of challenges—from appointment booking and continuity of care, to a delay following your ECG—and I completely understand how frustrating and upsetting this must have been for you. We always aim to offer consistent, high-quality care, and it’s disappointing to hear that we fell short of this for you. Continuity is something we are actively working on, and we recognise how important it is to see someone familiar who understands your history. While our clinicians work hard to document everything thoroughly in your record to ensure safe ongoing care, we know this doesn’t replace the reassurance of seeing the same GP regularly. I’m also very sorry about the 7am appointment being cancelled after you had arrived—this clearly should not have happened without prior notice and I can only presume the clinician was unwell. I appreciate the inconvenience this caused. Regarding the ECG, If you would like us to look into your concerns in more detail or help arrange any further care, please feel free to contact us. admin.theswanpractice@nhs.net Kindest regards Emma Vye Managing Director The Swan Practice

I have yet again had my needs met and in good time scale too. This occasion was a telephone appointment. I didn’t feel rushed, I felt listened to and have (hopefully) got a solution. Thankyou!

The practice was unable to arrange a hospital requested post op dressing check by a nurse although given two weeks notice. Also refused to help with requested sodium test. Unhelpful with requested repeat prescription.

Review titled Impossible

It's now impossible to get to see a gp at this practice. Tried to see a gp but they've got a new and terrible "triage" system now. I spent ages filling out a questionnaire online asking for an appointment with a gp. I submitted it and a couple of days later was sent a text message saying to go in to the surgery in an hour's time - not exactly convenient. I arrived and got to see a nurse, who told me I need to see a gp. The receptionist tried to book another appointment for me to see a gp, but has to go through the same stupid process we have to. 7 days later I'm still waiting for a date for an appointment. What a complete waste of time.

Review titled Appalling wait times

Daughter completed on line request 6 weeks ago and today received follow up to say she will receive an appointment within 3 - 4 week time. Called surgery to find that they have no appointments for non urgent cases due to underfunding and that they are short of Doctors so I am surprised that they are taking on new patients when they cannot service those that they have already. Basically she told me if its not urgent you have to wait for it to be triaged and if its not considered urgent enough it gets held in a queue. If you think it is urgent and you do not get a response call 111 or 999, surely this can not be right?
