Review titled Excellent Service
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by johnathan wates - Posted on 30 May 2025
Massive thank you to Nurse who's name begins with a J and ends with an i (they wont let me use your name?) @ Stamford Medical (1st Floor). Super helpful, empathic and compassionate. Really went the extra mile to make arrangements for changing medication, making new appointments to see specialists that I'd forgotten about and generally was a kind a super professional. Well done, its unexpected but really appreciated.

Review titled Treated with respect and like an adult
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Ms Carla Holden - Posted on 01 June 2025
I would like to commend the medical and nursing staff at the Stanford Medical Centre for the way that they consistently have treated myself and my daughter this year with kindness, respect and in an adult-to-adult way. We've never had to wait beyond our appointment time to be seen and when we have been seen we've been listened to and given appropriate, helpful advice and treatment. This sounds like nothing remarkable but it really is something very special in comparison to other NHS experiences that I have personally had and that I know about from other members of my family elsewhere in the country and from friends. To be taken seriously and to have our anxieties taken seriously is so powerful and this is what the staff consistently do at Stanford Medical Centre. There is never any dismissiveness or any feeling of irritation from the staff if we talk about our medical histories and what we conclude from them and subsequent treatment recommendations are always sensible given the conversations that we have had. Please extend my gratitude to all the staff at the Centre.

Review titled Happy retirement wishes to departing doctor
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Paul Corcut - Posted on 28 March 2025
To doctor: Dear doctor, Wishing you congratulations and a long and healthy retirement, and much thanks on treating and arranging for prescriptions to be made available to me as one of your patients at Stanford Medical Centre. Just one last issue: you may remember me raising the issue of a skin growth on my forehead and you said it was benign. I attach a photo of my forehead and would be grateful if you would refer on the issue to the doctors at Stanford who will assume your patients . Wishing you all the best for the future. your patient . Unable to attach img file.

Review titled Decent practice, condescending receptionist
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by EJW - Posted on 18 September 2024
I’m still a new patient at this surgery and the doctor and nurses there have been very good so far, however have had a poor experience with the receptionist who was extremely condescending to me when I was calling to book a secondary blood test that was recommended to me by the doctor over phone call to do due to personal situation, she then proceeded to act on his behalf by saying she didn’t think I needed it and talked to me as if I was stupid for even calling. Very very off putting and very disrespectful and unprofessional behaviour in my opinion.

We are very sorry that you had this experience - if you would like to contact the practice via our website we can investigate the incident. By having more detail of who you spoke to can help us identify where patients are not receiving the standard of care we aim to deliver

Review titled Unprofessional
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Jo Lucy - Posted on 17 September 2024
My daughter came to the practice this morning. She had booked the appointment weeks ago. At the reception desk she was told she didn’t have an appointment, even though she had spoken to a member of staff over the phone and booked it. The receptionist made my daughter explain her reasons for the appointment in the area of the general public. Not only humiliating for her, but totally unacceptable of the receptionist to ask in this way. The reason for this appointment was personal. Eventually the receptionist explained that an appointment had been booked but the details weren’t administered correctly, thus blocking it. So, it wasn’t my daughter’s fault, yet she was treated without compassion. Please can you prevent this member of staff from treating other young females or any patients in this way. Any person entering a doctors practice will be feeling vulnerable and this is not acceptable practice.

We are very sorry to hear that your daughter wasn't treated with care and compassion when there were problems finding her appointment. We do offer a Privacy Slip for patients to complete when they don't want to give a reason and I apologise that this didn't happen, staff have been reminded about it

Review titled OK but terrible communicators
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 June 2024
The medical experience was average, but generally ok. Tended towards solving issues with medication rather assessing lifestyle (which in my case actually resolved an issue where I was told I'd need medication for the rest of my life). But that is the impact of high demand and short appointment times. This appears to be a very very busy practice. The main feedback I would give you about this practice over 14 years is how poor the communication is. * Admin staff were consistently unfriendly but never rude. * I asked them to communicate by email instead of letters and texts (more than once) and this was ignored. * I was palmed off to some kind of 3rd party claiming to be working on behalf of the practice for my condition and was never warned that this would happen. They were legitimate, but you can imagine how distressing this was initially. There have been quite a few other examples, but I won't waste any more time on it as I have moved on. Would I register here again?Maybe. As I have said, the medics all seemed pretty good. But I don't really have confidence that on the admin side, they see you as anything other than a number. I do understand that it is a tough job, and your experience may be better but consider this a word of caution if care and service are important to you.

Review titled Receptionist
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Heather Johnson - Posted on 19 April 2024
Called to get some eczema cream for my 5 month old, just wanted to speak to doctor so he could prescribe a cream she’d had previously in a flare up. The receptionist told me I needed to fill out a form online and it would take 3 days, I said is there anyway I could just speak to a doctor and she then was very very rude and patronising and said that I should have done this a week ago. This made me feel very annoyed and patronised and did not feel it was needed or her place to tell me when I should have done something.

I am sorry that your experience was not what you expected - we do make it clear to patients that we do not take requests over the phone and to allow up to 3 days for us to process a request. There are several easy ways to request medication that we fine most patients are happy using. We are always happy to work with patients if the medication is critical and they need it urgently

Review titled Really Helpful
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Laura Buckley - Posted on 23 November 2023
This morning I called up for an appointment and the receptionist was really kind and helpful. She listened to what I was saying and tried to find the best solution for me. She offered me an appointment with someone that I didn't know about and booked it in for after the GP appt just in case I needed it and it would help. She didn't need to do that and in my last surgery, the receptionists weren't kind let alone helpful and so it felt really nice for someone to listen and help when I'm in pain. Thank you!
