  1. Review titled Disappointing.

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 April 2024

I went to this GP a while ago after experiencing heavy periods and severe pain for years - I initially got put on hormone tablets to 'solve' the pain (and by solve, this is still an ongoing issue). Not only have I been on 4 different brands and have switched tablet types, I was referred for an ultrasound and told there was nothing wrong, even though this pain is a recurrent issue, with back pain, has nearly made me pass out and has made me sick on many occasions - the symptoms could go on. Instead of a follow up appointment after the referral, I was told the results over the phone, with no solution to my issue, and that sometimes 'women just have a heavy period' - is pain that leads to nearly passing out normal? Is overheating and going into a cold sweat normal? I'm nowhere near menopausal age. I feel like I've been fobbed off too many times and have contemplated switching practices, I don't feel listened to, and feel like nothing will ever get done about this.

  2. Review titled Excellent specialist GP service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by MJ Kenyon - Posted on 01 March 2023

Econsult worked well for me to request treatment for a skin problem which had recurred after a ten-year gap An appointment was arranged quickly with the same specialist GP, who was able to check my records. I received treatment along with helpful advice about a possible alternative treatment if needed.

  3. Review titled Still taking weeks to get an appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Gavin Massingham - Posted on 10 September 2022

I posted a previous review complaining about the wait of weeks to get an appointment. It is still the case. I went to book an appointment today, with no preference for telephone or face-to-face, or for which GP, and the earliest next appointments were Friday 23rd September. Those I couldn't take as I will be collecting my daughter from school, so I got the sole available telephone slot on Monday 26th September. To still have to wait over 2 weeks to speak to a GP is ridiculous.

Dear Mr Massingham, Thank you for getting in touch again. I am sorry that you have had difficulties in making an appointment with us. Demand remains extremely high to see a GP and it is taking a little longer to book routine appointments. We do ensure that all urgent matters are seen on the day where possible. Please do not hesitate to contact the Practice where our team will assist with any queries you may have. Catherine Smith Business Manager

  4. Review titled Why does it still take weeks to get an appointment?

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 May 2022

Today, I went to book an appointment - telephone, face-to-face, I don't care - and the next available one was 4 weeks time. Given Covid is now at something like 1 in 50, or less, of the population, and that staff with Covid can usually carry on working by telephone, Covid is wearing a bit thin as a response to why it's so difficult to get an appointment at a GP practice. I would have contacted the surgery directly to say this, but they don't have an email address, which is not accessible for people who hate using phones - common among people with ADHD and/or autism, or with hearing disorders. Strangely, I don't have a fax machine at my house. Nor does their survey form accept responses on their website. They're making it as difficult as possible to communicate with them. So, in that spirit, I'm expecting this review to be rejected as well.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you have found it difficult to make an appointment. We are now back to booking face to face appointments or telephone appointments at the patient's choice. I would very much like to assess why there was a 4 week wait unless it was for a specific clinician. We are, of course, happy to look into this for you and please do contact the Practice and ask to speak to one of our Reception Team Leaders who will be happy to assist you. Alternatively please do visit our website for further information regarding online appointment bookings via the NHS App (please specify face to face or telephone) and the availability of our e-consult service if this is more suitable to your needs.
