  1. Review titled Fantastic service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Joanne Deighton - Posted on 19 April 2023

I contacted the surgery today 18/4/23 as ask my GP had closed for the day, and I woke up with an acute problem, I thought I was suffering from Shingles and have an operation the following day in hospital and needed to be sure if it was shingles or a problem I have medically that flares up. On the first encounter I spoke to the care navigator who was extremely kind and efficient, She advised me although ask my GP had closed she would place me on the acute list for a doctor to call me back. recognised that I had underlying health problems and this was quite important to rule out shingles. Later on that day the GP got in touch and asked me if I would either like a telephone call, a video consultation or a face-to-face appointment, I opted for the video consultation as I didn’t feel it warranted taking the time out of the extremely busy doctors day for a face-to-face consultation, When it could be dealt with a video. GP was fantastic, eased my worries that it was not shingles and it was an underlying health condition that I have, and my operation would be safe for tomorrow. In the times when the NHS is so stretched I could not fault the practice, especially the staff that come under enormous pressure, they seem to get complaints when not justified, from the first phone call to the outcome at the end of the day I left feeling extremely happy and cared for. Well done the Roxton practice I’m so grateful to be a patient there.

  2. Review titled the online booking system

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 January 2023

This online booking system or phoning at 8am to book an appointment when your ill is ridiculous. Not everyone has internet access or a contract on their phone to stay on the phone line for 20mins only to be told everyday that you have not made it in time to get appointment. Even the assistants answering the phone understand how we feel and do not know themselves how some of us will ever get an appointment when we have to keep phoning in. I have had to come to the library today to give this feed back on behalf of others as well as myself because I do not have internet access, but the library does not open at 8am to make appointment here. I had to ask, while getting a blood test at the walking at The Weelsby site, how on earth I would ever get seen about my illness for I was getting worse by the day. Reluctantly I was told the only thing she could do is put it down as an emergency appointment and get someone to call me. All I needed was antibiotics, I had already seen a pharmacy to talk about my problem. This is a ridiculous new way of getting appointments, people will be going ill for weeks without being seen and end up going to a+e which puts more strain on hospitals. I no longer feel it is health care. I feel you no longer care about our health.

  3. Review titled GP was unpleasant

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anne Brewis - Posted on 16 December 2022

Im new to this practice. Despite struggling to get an appointment, once I could get through the MyGp app, I had an excellent response the same day from a very efficient and understanding person (I think, a nurse) who booked me in for physio and said they would organise an Xray and review medication. The physio was also absolutely excellent, that same day, with a holistic approach , asking all about my lifestyle and gave a proper examination along with exercises to do. They made me feel positive and hopeful that I would be supported to find some solutions to my constant pain affecting my work and sleep. I was phoned the next day by a GP from the practice. He was arrogant and patronising and made me feel like I was worthless. He has never met me and has no idea about my work or lifestyle and insinuated that it was my own fault for having pain and that I should get more exercise. He wanted to know why I wanted and xray!? And was suspicious that I was just trying to get put on the list for a hip replacement! I ticked the "any gp" box but have learned my lesson and will never do that again. I wish the same pain on this GP. For his information I do 20-30,000 steps a day and am not just trying to get an operation! I just wanted support and ideas on how to manage my progressively severe pain. Once again , the Nurse & Physiotherapist were both excellent.

  4. Review titled Absolute waste of time

Rated 1 star out of 5

the doctors at the practice have not provided the level of care and attention that I expect from a medical professional. They have rushed through appointments and have not taken the time to thoroughly address my health concerns. I am extremely disappointed with the level of care and service at your practice and hope that steps will be taken to improve the attitude and demeanor of the staff and doctors. there are some fantastic people who work there and it's just the luck of the draw if you get them. The reception team is the most rude unhelpful team i have come across. After being with roxton my whole life. i am 100% changing as the handful of times i have actually needed to go to the doctors. every experience got worse and worse. family and friends all have the same opinion. AskmyGP is one of the worst things to happen to the practice. unreliable, difficult to use, and the fact most appointments take place over the phone so they can decide if you need a face to face appointment is outrageous. i would never recommend the practice to anyone and i sincerely hope the standard of this place improves for the helpful staff working there and the people that use it

  5. Review titled Doctors unavailable

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Siobhan Bernhardt - Posted on 16 November 2022

I used ask my gp to book a dr appointment, the response to this was that a visit to the pharmacist was more appropriate. I complied with this advice, the pharmacist told me I needed to see a dr .I then visited the surgery, where I was told no dr was available, would I like someone to ring me. after a phone call I was given an appointment for the following day. I waited 35 minutes past my appointment time in a completely empty waiting room, before being called not by a dr but a nurse who advised I go back to the pharmacy and ask for a specific treatment. this I did only to be told by the pharmacist it was only available on prescription. I returned to the surgery to ask for a dr appointment and was told there are no dr at this surgery and I should phone immingham surgery for an appointment. perhaps this is one reason so many people visit a&e withnon emergency problems. It’s quicker and less traumatic to have a twelve hour wait in a&e than to see a gp. Services paid for out of the public purse should be available to the public and they no longer are without causing a lot of frustration, anxiety and distress. Not to mention the cost in time and travel which has to be born in visits to chemists and surgeries which are no longer available locally. Doctors have a duty of care to their patients, but as it is very difficult to get access to a Dr. there is necessarily no care being given.

  8. Review titled Excellent staff and superb practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kim Gallagher - Posted on 05 October 2022

Recently had to go the practice because of a painful cyst on my back, the nursing staff were amazing and so professional, they have kept a close eye on me over the last 10 days and were so patient and caring. They provided me with the right advice and as said very professional but laid back and had a great sense of humor, busy and obviously very hard working but always smiling and cheerful. Thank you nursing team I greatly appreciate your care.
