I went in for an appointment today to have a coil removed. The nurse who saw me was lovely. Mad emergency feel at ease, was chatty but not overly so. Listened to my concerns/previous experience. She was then efficient and professional during the procedure and gave me time afterwards. Although I know time is critical during these appointments I never felt rushed or like a bother. Thank you

I keep trying to get help with feeling suicidal and very depressed but as soon as you put that in they tell you to ring the Samaritans and end the consultation. I’m giving up now as they clearly do not care. I’ve been helping diagnose the public with cancer for the last 10 years in my job with the nhs and I can’t get a doctors appointment for myself or indeed any help whatsoever ever. So I’m giving up now.

Sorry you have had this experience this using our econsult feature. Please do contact Clare Messenger at the Practice to discuss this further. You are able to ring the Practice to arrange an appointment and it would be dealt with as an urgent issue if you were feeling suicidal at the time.

  3. Review titled Makes you wonder

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Having been with this practice nigh on 35 years, it really is distressing to experience the changes. Medical care, when given is good. Administration on the whole is good. What really irks me is the inability to actually “see” a doctor. On two occasions, at their request, I’ve had to ring to make an appointment so that a doctor, never the same one, can discuss something with me on the phone and this appointment is some weeks in the future! Gone is the beloved family doctor, who knows you, your family and your medical history. I personally find phone consultation very difficult, I wear hearing aids, have extreme tinnitus and sometimes have to ask doctors to repeat which is embarrassing for me and probably infuriating for the doctor. Invariably once the call is over I think of something I should have asked. Where is the humanity and empathy that GP doctors once had? My “review” is going to be with a doctor I’ve not met, yes they can read my medical history, but they don’t know me. They can talk to me on the phone they won’t know if all is really well, unlike doctors I’ve had in the past. In my opinion it is the lack of face to face which is filling our Accident and Emergency Departments.

Thank you for your feedback. and we much appreciate your positive feedback and I am very sorry that you feel that you are not able to get a face to face appointment. We do operate a telephone first policy so the GP and the patient can decide together if the patient needs to be seen. However for people who have hearing impairment or communication challenges then we can arrange for a face to face directly. I am sorry that you have found barriers in communicating this to us. Please do contact the Practice and ask to speak to Clare Messenger. There is a national issue with GP recruitment especially in the Oxfordshire area. GPs are leaving the NHS much faster than they can be recruited. I am afraid that we are not able to provide the service both patients and GPs want to in terms of continuity of seeing one GP. Please do refer this to your local MP as it is a national problem which we can do very little about.

Why have they changed the repeat Prescriptions online, l do not have an phone only a basic one with no app and now find it harder to order, as it is easier before and now l am having to come into the surgery to order my prescriptions, which with the weather going to be bad my electric-wheel will not always work to get out and it is impossible to phone as l cannot hear properly on the phone
