Start calling at 8 am, get through at 8-15 only to be told no appointments, and if you need to see a doctor call 111…

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for "The Leigh Surgery", we are sorry you have been unable to obtain an appointment to see a Doctor. The demand for an appointment currently far outweighs our availability, this is a nationwide problem affecting all GP surgeries. We offer same day appointments and pre-bookable advance appointments as well as a limited number of online appointments. If a patient considers their problem is so urgent it cannot wait we always encourage them to call "111" who provide urgent medical advice and guidance. Same day appointments are available to be booked from 8am via the telephone and 8.15am when the doors open. If your medical problem is not urgent we would always recommend a patient books an in advance appointment to ensure they have the security of a guaranteed appointment. Can't even get an appointment anymore, Receptionist keeps telling you to phone up and when they finally answer the phone there's no appointment left.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for "The Leigh Surgery", we are sorry to read you have been unsuccessful in obtaining an appointment with the Doctor. We currently offer same day appointments for urgent problems (telephone and face to face) these must be booked by calling the surgery at 8am. We also offer face to face and telephone appointments which can be booked in advance for routine matters (we are currently booking approx 4 weeks ahead for these type of appointments). Unfortunately the demand for GP appointments currently far outweighs our capacity, this is a national problem affecting all GP surgeries not just "The Leigh Surgery". New doctors, no appointments, have to keep ringing every day, can't get through, can't book in advance, face to face appointments weeks ahead ... you have to ask yourself, does anyone really care?

Dear Patient; Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for The Leigh Surgery, it is disappointing to read your comments so soon after the new Doctors have joined the practice. Our appointment booking system has not changed, patients are still able to make an appointment on the day or in advance, these can be made by attending the surgery in person, over the telephone or booking online. For a same day appointment we would recommend a patient calls once the telephone line is open at 8am. Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate all requests for same day appointments due to the demand which currently far outweighs our capacity. We would recommend you sign up to the NHS App or Systmonline which will enable online booking facility. We would now like to take this opportunity to invite you to join The Leigh Surgery "Patient Participation Group", this is a forum for patients who want the surgery to work as well as it can for patients, Doctors & staff. Please contact reception for details of how you can join the group and when the next meeting will be held. All staff at The Leigh Surgery work tirelessly for the good of the practice and go above and beyond to ensure all patients receive a caring and compassionate service. Phoned many times from 8 a.m. got through at 8.20. Reception staff always very helpful ... Appointment same day at 11.55. First appointment with new doctor, nice introduction. Thorough review of my health issues, with my own thoughts and feeling taken into consideration. Examined, appropriate treatment and required tests arranged. Dr. to follow up services that may be of benefit to me. Very pleasant experience indeed ... A very professional approach / experience, one I know patients will value! Thank you to one and all, fro the excellent service available to us all.

Got same day appointment, lovely receptionist. Didn’t wait long to be seen, Saw Dr and was so helpful, didn’t feel rushed, just the best Dr.

Phone always answered. Usually same day appointments. Prescriptions ordered and available same or next day. Never had a bad experience unlike with the larger practices.

Can't believe I phoned for result of a test as I hadn't heard back. Turns out it was abnormal. Asked when they would tell me. Said if it kept recurring! Dangerous! I was shocked. Wish our old GP was still here. Used to be best practice in Southend. Under other GP surgery is empty, you play telephone lotto with people's health to get appointment that you need urgently yet advertising for new patients! Feel lost with no confidence that I'm in safe hands at this practice anymore.

It’s always impossible to get an appointment! You call at 8am and then try continuously for 30 mins (80 calls later) to be told try again another day?! Useless

The demand for appointments currently exceeds our capacity as is the case with all GP surgeries at the present time. It is possible for you to make a pre-booked appointment for a telephone or face to face appointment with a Doctor for around 2 weeks time, this enables you to secure an appointment in advance whilst still trying each day to make a same day appointment. What has happened to this previously fabulous surgery. I rang today needing to speak to a Dr as I need antibiotics. I listened to a long message telling me I would be triaged and my need assessed but when I got through I was just told there are no appointments. Nobody asked my age, my history, anything! I can’t speak to anyone and must take my chances in getting through at 8am. It’s over three years since I saw a doctor. What a difference. I felt completely unimportant and uncared about. This is not the service we used to have. If I get very I’ll in the night, as could happen with my history, I shall have to join the army of people going to A&E inappropriately.

Great staff, fantastic doctors, easy book appointments, the best of care, what more can one ask for? You couldn't ask for better care, no hanging about for appointments, and all the time you need to deal with your problems. So many grumble about GP services generally, but I couldn't find a fault no matter how hard I looked. Thank you to all the staff at the surgery for giving us their time and such excellent care, and thanks to our brilliant doctors.
