  1. Review titled Unacceptable service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 May 2024

Telephoned at 8:30 am t be told the waiting time was 10 minutes, how can this be possible? Numerous recorded messages all irrelevant and one particular one stating that receptionist have all left due to rudeness of patients. Is this how people who are unwell and requiring medical assistance should be treated? I think not! The phone was answered 18 minutes later and when I dared to ask why was there a 10 minute wait when the lines had only just opened the person answering the call hung up! are people not entitled to know how the system works? Rang again and was informed the waiting time was now 30 minutes another tirade of recorded nonsense all informing Patients to seek assistance elsewhere ! This service is not fit for purpose, do the powers that be think that everybody phones the Dr's for fun? No they don't, they phone because they need medical help that only the Dr can provide. Not a Call Centre spewing out rubbish to people in medical need ! What on earth has happened to this Surgery? No replies have been published to any reviews, this speaks volumes to me and shows me that they do not care about Patients at all. Harold Road Surgery your service towards patients is nothing short of a disgrace and needs a rapid change.

  2. Review titled The system worked

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sara Carnwath - Posted on 20 April 2024

I called at 14.45 and chose the callback option. I received a call minutes later and after answering a series of questions I was told to attend the surgery at 15.45 to see the doctor. The doctor was very kind and professional, I was thoroughly checked over and tests were arranged. I think that we are so used to hearing or reading negative things about the NHS and GP surgeries (particularly in Hastings) that it’s great to find that the help is there. It has restored my confidence that if I am really unwell and need medical assistance, I will be seen. Thank you

  3. Review titled Awful Practice 😞

Rated 1 star out of 5

My husband was sent a text with a link to book a blood test. When trying to book vis this method, all it does is keep buffing. So called into the surgery to book, to then be told they didn't to blood tests at the practice anymore. Apparently you have to go to the conquest. Just seems to me they are doing less and less. You have to do your own blood pressure, I did mine for a two week period, and I was told once I had done that, I was to add it all up, divide it by 28 and hand it in, really. Does this practice care ? I've been with other practices who operate a 2 month prescription system, this practice works a month only.... Surely if it did the 2 month it would be less work on such a overstretch practice. Also is it right to be sending their patients to the Conquest for routine bloods... Surely the Conquest is for consultants tests etc

  4. Review titled Absolutely appalling !!

Rated 1 star out of 5

Absolutely appalling surgery! My husband had major surgery (a hip replacement) a week ago and was told by the consultant to make an appointment with the nurse at our doctors surgery to get the wound checked and dressing changed ! Called yesterday to try and do this giving over a weeks notice from when we needed this to happen and was told they have no availability until second week in April and to go to the Conquest Hospital !! Told them to forget it and we will try and do it ourselves !! Can’t believe they haven’t a 5 minute slot to do this ! Shocking state of affairs !!

  5. Review titled Waste of time.

Rated 1 star out of 5

After waiting 1 hour and 17 minutes for the phone to be answered, person on the end of the phone goes away to answer my query. Come back on the line and I’m cut off, then asked to give an automated rating of the service I received. Of course I rated it the lowest I possibly could, then the rating wouldn’t register. Totally frustrating and a waste of time. What’s happened to this service? It needs investigating. I was acting on behalf of a 98 year old at this time.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Today was the Second of consecutive last minute cancellations of appointments because of shortages of staff, due to illness! I have COPD. It isn't getting any easier. I have been a patient with Harold Road surgury for donkeys years. I don't ever remember any problems with seeing a doctor. Now I'm having problems getting an appointment to see a Nurse!!! Not impressed. Does anybody care...?

  9. Review titled Atrocious administration

Rated 1 star out of 5

Advised needed blood tests and brain scan, possibly dementia(husband). Underwent surgery based cognitive tests and told need to be referred for further evaluation. Advised would be called in for bloods. Waited 3 weeks, no call for blood test. Chased. Long wait times, opted for call back. Waited 4 hours for call back. Advised call operator would check with surgery on progress and call back. No call back despite waiting by phone all day. Called again, opted for call back due extraordinary long wait time. Called back, repeated request - same thing, promised call operator would speak to surgery & call back with update. They called back 5 hours later to say they could not locate notes and would call on the Monday. (This was Friday). Waited all day Monday for call back (until 4.45pm) no call. Decided to visit surgery instead. Two receptionist staff working. Neither could locate notes or see request for scan or bloods on the surgery system. Luck would have it nurse who was seen originally walked past, so we spoke with her. She insisted she placed the request with “the care team upstairs “. She sat us down and typed all the details in again and said we would be called for blood test but long wait due to inadequate staffing. I asked could we go to Conquest path lab - advised we could. Phoned blood test appointments, offered same day or next day! Blood test now done. Now awaiting results and hospital appointment with neurology… so It goes on. In total 3.5 days waiting by phone for updates on something that never got uploaded to the system in the first place. And why say come back here for blood tests knowing there would be a delay when hospital could do the test in less than 24 hours? I’m told it is because the surgery pays from its practice budget if test is performed outside the surgery. Not sure if this is true, but clearly they didn’t help themselves, or us, by not referring us to hospital. Praying the next part of the process is followed up, ie scans to rule out mini stroke etc.

  10. Review titled Always helpful

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have been to Harold road quite a few times in the past year with my son and needed an appointment today for my daughter. Every time I have called we have been seen the same day and all clinicians have been extremely helpful and I just wanted to thank the whole team.
