  1. Review titled Access challenging since transfer to online triage

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 April 2024

Since the switch to total triage for all GP appointments it has become much more challenging to access. System often full so cannot complete form to even start to get things booked. This includes appointments that are routine and everyone agrees are needed such as maternal postnatal checks. I'm surprised there isn't a clinic a day set aside for reviews like this (and others such as complex medication reviews) that could be booked into by reception without the need for triage by a GP, as this seems to add to their own workload. Very restrictive system for post-natal checks, only an hour a week in which baby can be reviewed and seem to again generate more work by splitting the maternal and infant checks as a lot of the answers to maternal checks inform the baby check (such as feeding methods and delivery details). If unable to make single hour then baby not able to have first vaccinations! In this day when there is a national campaign to try and improve uptake of childhood vaccinations, I'm amazed they're still being so restrictive!

Review titled The Grove Medical Group

    Replied on 24 April 2024

Dear Patient, We are sorry to hear you found the switch to online triage challenging. Our feedback has been mostly very positive in relation to the online triage with many patients advising they feel it is easy to access the surgery. Also our phone calls have reduced by over 2000 per month reducing waiting times and making access easier for patients who are unable to use the online triage system. Sometimes we do reach full capacity on the online system, but this tends to be on a Monday when it is particularly busy. All requests are safely triaged by a clinician. The child welfare clinic is a specialist clinic with an appointed GP which runs alongside one of our Practice Nurses to ensure safety when delivering childhood vaccines. Although we would encourage a parent to attend the specialist child health clinic for an 8 week baby check an alternative appointment can be discussed with the reception team if a parent is unable to attend. Post-Natal checks are done at 6 weeks and separately to the child welfare check at 8 weeks and this is to ensure the child's parent has time to discuss any issues and the focus can be on them. Often two parents/carers attend the child welfare clinic for their baby's immunisations so they may be reluctant to discuss their own health with a GP if someone else is in attendance.

  2. Review titled Promptly dealing with a request for an appointment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Margaret Gillon - Posted on 13 March 2024

Today, 13.3.24, 8am I used the online booking service for the first time. It was such a relief to have the ability to type what was wrong on to the online form and not hang on for ages on the phone. An hour later my request had been processed by the triage doctor and I was sent an appointment to see a nurse at the Molineux centre at 1.30pm. I have asthma and was concerned the chest infection could develop into something more serious. I have just retuned, having had a full examination and will now have a prescription to collect locally tomorrow. I was extremely impressed with the service and hope when people get used it it will free up the phone lines for people with no internet or lacking confidence to use the system. I hope the staff at the practice are already seeing the benefit and life is a little bit less stressful. Who ever reads this, please pass on this review to everyone involved. I will continue to sing the praises of The Grove Margaret Gillon

  4. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I recently joined the practice and have found the service to be excellent. I have spoken to a number of reception staff, all of whom have been helpful, efficient, and supportive I have recently had a consultation with one of the doctors, who had a lovely bedside manner and was very quick to provide care and support for a medical concern that I had. I have recently had a minor procedure done with the practice, and felt that the service was very efficient, effective, kind, and professionally delivered - both the doctor doing the procedure and the nurse who was assisting him. Couldn't recommend highly enough - thank you.

  5. Review titled Didn't know our receptionists are now trained GPs

Rated 1 star out of 5

Ring bang on 8am and no appointments for 5 weeks. Explain my symptoms are ongoing, yet pretty bad. Get asked "Well if they are ongoing I don't see how that's an emergency" Maybe because I ring every month and get fobbed off by some bloke claiming it's in my head and he "doesn't really deal with women's problems". Really?? As a general practitioner?? Get asked if I can get to a walk-in centre or RVI. Explain that it's not an a&e emergency, and I don't know how to get to a walk in centre. Due to my mh condition, I don't like new places and it can make me worse... That's not really her problem, if I really am in pain and suffering then I would do everything I can... Get told "right, I'll put you on the list, you're the 5th person but a little bit of pain and mental health isn't really a reason for an appointment".

  6. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had an excellent experience with our GP when my daughter was ill recently. The receptionist was polite and caring and told me the duty doctor would ring me back straight away and within 10 mins she did, and was able to see us at the surgery that afternoon. I have never had a bad experience at this practice and on this occasion it was absolutely excellent so I wanted to leave a review to thank all the staff for their hard work
