Rated 4 stars out of 5

The attending Gp listened to my problem and suggestions, made the urgent referral to the Hospital which confirmed the diagnosis. I ended up having a procedure done to cure me. Thank you very much for not dismmising my complain. Also thanks to the reception guy who was on duty.

  7. Review titled No response

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Mrs Carol wall - Posted on 09 November 2022

waited for over 1 hour on tuesday afternoon to be told at 5pm someone will contact me. no one did wednesday morning 3rd in queue for 46 mins then moved to 2nd. Went up to practice saw 1person on phone. Male reception staff told me they were all busy. come back at half one. other receptionist remembers call from previous day. Went out of building and hey homy call is answered. told dr would call me.got by car park and dr rang inviting me to appointment 15 mins later with her. went back for my 11 40 appointment but didn't go in till 12 pm not to a dr but a student. I had no confidence with this person and he was not sure himself of my condition. he did send a script to the chemist but an hour later it still hadn't been recieved. Hey ho itwas received at 1 30 and now need to wait a further 30 minutes for dispensing. I was referred by 2 medics yesterday re my condition. So does this mean dont ask these care in the chemists practitioners for advice cos when they give it it gets rebuked by student doctors. now trying to book an appointment with an experienced doctor in the practice but I'm 38 in the queue.

good afternoon Carol Wall. My name is Yvonne and I am the Practice Manager at The Elms. I was very sorry to learn that you are unhappy with the care received from the practice and I am grateful that you have brought this to my attention. The practice takes all feedback/comments very seriously and I will address your concerns. We are a practice of over 9500 patients and often can receive up to 1000 calls per day. We aim to keep our waiting times to a minimum , however on occasion the wait is longer than would be expected. This week we have have been working at minimum capacity in reception due to staff sickness, which, unfortunately has an effect on waiting times and staff availability. I will however pass your feedback to the reception manager for further investigation. I note that you had a consultation with a doctor and I can confirm this was not a student doctor that conducted the consultation. It is unclear why the prescription took so long to arrive electronically at your chosen chemist, I will make enquiries regarding this. If you would like to discuss your comments further please contact the surgery by phone or email gp.n82070@nhs.net. I hope this has addressed your concerns Kind regards Yvonne Practice manager

  8. Review titled Excellent practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Mary B - Posted on 28 November 2022

I can't fault this GP practice. The staff, including the reception team, nurses and doctors, have always been friendly and helpful. Like everywhere, they are working through staff shortages, I imagine in addition to an ever increasing patient number. I have two young children and to say I've used their services a lot over the past few years would be an understatement! We've seen them for so many different issues, both routine and acute. I have always got a same day appointment when needed (provided I call during triage time). Yes, it may take an hour to get through on the phone sometimes, but they are obviously receiving a huge volume of calls everyday (even if you call seconds after they open you can end up 10+ in the queue!). Even throughout the lockdowns I still found they were there when I needed them, including seeing me in person when I had covid quite early into the pandemic (pre vaccinations). They've helped me through so much. I've never once felt rushed when I've been in an appointment. I honestly can't thank this GP practice enough. From hearing stories across the country about people struggling to see a GP/nurse, there are obviously others who could learn a lot from them. Keep up the good work!

Good afternoon Mary B Thank you for the lovely positive feedback. As a practice we strive to provide the best possible care/service to our patients and it is pleasing to be able to pass the details of your experience back to our teams, both clinicians and admin/reception. As a large practice we can encounter up to 1100 call per day to the surgery, this why sometimes there can be a long wait for your calls to be answered. We do appreciate the patience and understanding of the patients trying to get through and work hard to get through as many calls as possible in the fastest possible time whilst still providing an excellent service. While sharing the feedback I will also pass on your thanks to the teams. Kind regards Yvonne Practice Manager

  9. Review titled Not great.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Only seem to do phone consultations now. Meeting a doctor face to face is near impossible. Receptionists are rude, will rush you, apathetic to your concerns. Poor communication and follow up within the practice, ghastly listening skills, failing to pass along vital information, losing your information etc. You really have to take the initiative and contact them consistently; a mammoths worth of effort is required on your part to receive the base minimal support for your issue, so be ready for some asinine fun and games. It may however be helpful for you to actually die outside the surgery certainly and only then will you receive the attention you need. Of course not disregarding of the fact they are juggling the needs of hundreds of other patients, sadly as a result of this, they will fail you. Seek another surgery.

Dear Patient thank you for your feedback I was very sorry to learn that you are unhappy with the care received from the practice and as the practice manager I am grateful that you have brought this to my attention. The practice takes all complaints very seriously and are fully investigated. We do operate a triage system however we do also offer face to face appointment on a daily basis. If you would like to contact me to discuss the problems you have encountered with reception staff I can then investigate this further. If you would like to contact me please call 0151727 5555 or email gp.n82070@nhs.net to arrange an appointment. Kind regards Yvonne Practice Manager
