  1. Review titled Great Asthma Nurse

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 February 2024

I visited the Asthma Nurse today following on from some recent issues and investigations into an ongoing problem with my airways after a bout of Covid. The nurse was very thorough and did a variety of tests and referred me for blood tests. She gave me a prescription for a preventative inhaler and a second one to use as needed. I have a follow up appointment in a few weeks to review my symptoms and get the results of the tests. This lady is very pleasant and professional and has a calm and polite disposition. I would definitely be happy to see her again for any concerns with my chest/asthma health. A definite asset to the clinic

  2. Review titled Great GP

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I visited the Churchill Clinic this week and had an appointment with a GP that I hadn’t met before. He was absolutely brilliant! A real asset to the Clinic, so I hope he’s here to stay. He treated me with the utmost respect and listened carefully to my concerns about changes in breast tissue. He automatically went to get a chaperone before examining me but I was happy not to have a nurse present as I had asked my husband to come in to the examination room with me already. The doctor examined both breasts and the surrounding area including under the armpits in the lymph node areas. He found a lump and referred me straight away for mammograms of both breasts to, hopefully, rule out anything too serious. He was very reassuring and said these things are usually benign but referred me on a two week treatment path. I received a text just after my appointment with a link to book the appointment in the breast clinic for a mammogram. He said if I had any concerns at all or changes to go straight back to see him. This doctor has a really caring and professional disposition and is very easy to talk to.

  3. Review titled Excellent Nurse Practitioner

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 February 2024

I visited the Churchill Clinic last week and had an appointment with a Nurse Practitioner. She was absolutely fantastic! What an asset to the surgery. I felt like she treated me with genuine respect and listened to my concerns with great care and attention. She examined me, listened to my chest and airways, took my temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation levels and asked me a variety of health questions to get the best possible way to treat me. I was prescribed medication and referred for a follow up with another nurse that runs an asthma clinic as well as a referral for a spirometry test. She was extremely thorough and I felt like I had plenty of time to discuss my concerns. She carefully explained her thoughts on how best to treat the breathing/chest issue I had. She clearly outlined the plan of action and I felt completely reassured and in capable hands. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend an appointment with this fantastic Nurse Practitioner.

  4. Review titled Slow

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Generally slow, and phone communication has a bit of a rude tinge to it. Can't blame them for the tone of voice given the normal behaviour of the general public, but not pleasant to be on the receiveing end of it.

Due to a system issue I am only just able to respond to this review. I am sorry that you were unhappy with the service you received but also appreciate that you acknowledge some patients are not respectful of our staff either. That said the team are working hard to try and provide the best possible service given the constraints within the NHS. Thank you for your comment.

  5. Review titled Good practice

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 December 2023

I have been using this practice for years and have had mixed experiences in the past but generally I am able to get an appointment when I need one which is often an issue with other practices. I use the E consult service which makes things very easy. I recently spoke to one particular Dr who is the best I’ve ever seen and validated all of my concerns, he even asked about my mental health which wasn’t the original reason for the appointment. He came up with some good options for my treatment and I never felt rushed or like I was taking too much time. Overall I would recommend this practice.

  6. Review titled No communication

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I handed a urine sample for dipping as I felt pain and discomfort when peeing on 20/9/23 I then returned in 21/9 check results but was told the sample had been sent to hospital-I then called on 22/9 to be told that antibiotics had been prescribed but sent to Pharmacy2U who deliver my 2 monthly medication. I am so annoyed that the antibiotics were sent to p2u as I am still waiting for the antibiotics and my symptoms are getting worse. P2uhave confirmed that Royal Mail have my antibiotics and I will have to wait 2/3 working days. In the meantime I would like to know why the receptionist on 21st didn’t relay this info to me, why did the doctor sent urgent medication to p2u and not a local pharmacy and why I wasn’t told that antibiotics were prescribed to me when I called in on 21/9. I am now having to go the weekend without any relief to my infection which I am very unhappy about. I would appreciate it if a new prescription could be issued immediately. Regards L Hooton

Due to a system issue I am only just able to respond to this review. Thank you for your comment. I am sorry that you are unhappy with the service you received regarding your urine sample. I am more than happy to have a follow up conversation if you would like to speak to the Practice Manager please contact the surgery. Unfortunately when you have set a pharmacy up to supply medication unless specifically changed all medication goes to the nominated pharmacy including urgent prescriptions. I have spoken to the clinical team and asked them to check pharmacy details before issuing urgent medication to avoid repeat. I apologise for the issue. Thank you for your feedback

  7. Review titled wasted time resources-lack of MH

Called at 8.06 -on hands free cos that’s school time Told no appointments -call again at 2.30 (knowing the same situation will occur Advised 111 have mental health support option Explained I would need a pescription so 111 would refer me back to the GP Called 111 got to the mental crisis department (this was crisis and waste of valuable resources to be told I would have to be refered to family matters - where I am already referred to by police(which I explained) in regards to a pescription for my anti depression medication - I would have to contact my GP. I then call my GP explain this to be told u have to call at 8am or 230 for an appointment - so I tried to book a pre bookable appointment - the first I could be offered was the 13th April but that it was only a telephone appointment with an open timescales at any point During the day

Due to a system issue I am only just able to respond to this review. Thank you for your comment. I am sorry that you are unhappy with the service our reception staff provide. Demand for appointments in practice is high and we therefore have alternative services available which can support various conditions including mental health concerns. I am sorry that they were unable to help you. Given you condition I presume the medication you were requesting was a repeat. We must prioritise urgent requests for on the day appointments and you would have been booked in a routine appointment slot. I am sorry that we were unable to provide a specific time slot, this is to allow clinicians to work through their list and ensure a thorough review is completed. Once again I am sorry that you were unhappy with the service. Thank you for your feedback.

  9. Review titled Medication issues

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 December 2022

I have had problems getting my medication on several occasions. This week our Pharmacy told us that my prescription hadn't been sent from the surgery. I have Mental health problems ans also a condition that is severely affected if I don't have the medication. I had tried 111, but waited 36hrs for a response, so rang surgery this morning. The receptionist said that the medication hadn't been requested, so I would have to wait. I understand procedures have to be followed, but there was no empathy or understanding the consequences of me being without my medication. When I asked to speak to the Practice Manager I was fobbed off with an excuse. I understand that GP surgeries are busy, but prescribed medication is what you need to manage your health issues and not having them can have serious consequences on mental and physical health. I think that staff should be more aware of this.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you have had difficulty with your prescription. Unfortunately we do need a request for medication to be issued - I am unsure if a pharmacist normally does this for you but as you have indicated all services are under immense pressure and some are now unable to request on the patients behalf. Given the time of year we are getting an increased demand for prescriptions early and our clinicians are working through the lists to sign them off as soon as possible. I am sorry if our receptionists were not as understanding as you would hope, they are working hard to accommodate patients as much as possible whilst we deal with significant demand from worried parents and a huge influx of patients with flu. If you would like to pass your details on to reception a member of our management team will have a look at your request. Thank you

  10. Review titled useless reception

Rated 1 star out of 5

    1. phone doesn't always work, started at position 9 in queue, got all the way down to 1 then began to ring, rang for another 20 mins, I hung up and re-tried, call position 3 straight away, someone answered in 5 mins, wasted 40 mins on a dodgy line, reported it numerous times as it's been going on for years, they couldn't care less. 2. Asked for an appointment for impetigo antibiotic cream, reception told me I can get it over the counter, I told them that was was incorrect, can't I suffer with it quite often at least once a year and know the process, she got shirty with me and said she's right, her husband is a pharmacist and wouldn't give me an appointment. I travelled to the local chemist, and of course they told me I need a prescription. Today I needed to book a flu spray for my 3 year old Son, the 1 day they offered we are abroad, and I was told there's no other dates, but I can waste my morning ringing around chemists and ask if they do it (they don't). So my young son goes the winter with risk of catch and passing round the Flu? She couldn't give me any alternative dates or locations to go to.

Due to a system issue I am only just able to respond to this review. Thank you for your comment. I am sorry that you are unhappy with the telephony system we have in place. It has been updated recently and we have implemented new systems to improve wait times and our patients have seen an improvement. Unfortunately we do have a huge demand on our telephony system and even with all lines manned there can be wait times. You can use the Econsult system on our website - you can fill in a form and you will be directed to an appropriate service or someone will be in touch. I am sorry you were given incorrect information regarding the Impetigo cream - our colleagues at the pharmacies are now able to prescribe and issue more drugs and clinically manage certain conditions. I am sorry again for the inconvenience. Our flu season runs from September to March and appointments are put up regularly. With the childrens flu vaccines they have a very short shelf life and we rely on a central provision which we do not have guarantees of. To avoid waste and the possibility of not having the vaccines we do not pre book lots of clinics but they regularly go up. I apologise that we could not provide a suitable appointment at that time. Thank you for your feedback.
