My family have always had a fantastic experience from the staff at the Practice but the Nurses in particular really go the extra mile and offer a very proactive and efficient service. It makes it so much easier to attend appointments when they are regularly on time, prepared for the visit with equipment and other materials, and are generally just very considerate of patient's time and family commitments. Today I visited with my daughter who just had the most fantastic service from Practice Nurse who is a constant professional and very personable but is very much aware of teenagers needs, anxieties and overall care considerations. We are very grateful to have great access to our health and care needs delivered by this modern service with a diverse mix of health and care professionals, which makes it much easier for everyone's care needs to be met in a timely and proportionate way. Thank you (especially to Nurse we saw today - who is a star!)

I have been registered at the practice for the last 25 years and I have never had any issues at all. The nurses are all lovely and so compassionate, they are a credit to the practice. There are so many more options available now for appointments including pharmacists and physiotherapists which helps take the load of the GP's and I have found them both to be really good. I never have an issue with booking an appointment and if I can't get one the same day, which is quite rare, you can be booked in advance for an appointment which is normally within a few days to a week for non-urgent cases. No complaints and you should all be proud of yourselves!

We have a great team of GPs, practice nurses, a health care assistant, 3 on site pharmacists and a first contact practitioner which has enabled us to offer more appointments and easier access. Have been with this Doctors Practice since 1983....find them to be helpful, friendly, and Knowledgeable...also willing to take time to put nervous patients like myself at their ease...

Visited the surgery today for immunisations and was greeted by reception as I checked in. Nurse came out and was really welcoming and friendly. The appointment was on time and fast but friendly, next immunisations booked in the room so I didnt need to go back to the desk which made it easier. Overall easy visit and great practice

I called regarding a none urgent appointment and was given one for 3 days later which was amazing. The staff on the phone were helpful and I got a text to remind me of the appointment before hand. On the day of the appointment I was seen around 7-8 minutes past my appointment time which I think is great as I know doctors appointments overrun for previous people. The surgery was clean and the doctor helped with my query. I have no concerns or improvements for the practice on my visis

We have changed our appointment system over the past 12 months, it is good to hear that this is working positively. 2 receptionists are good, 2 nurses are great. Hardly see a doctor usually clinical pharmacist. Main doctor sold practice to bardoc he said the practice is run very badly and to report it. Doctors tell you the very worst scenario before you've even had any tests and put fear in you causing terrible anxiety. Can't get through at 8am and by 9am appointments have all gone, reception say try tomorrow or next day, this is extremely stressful especially for senior citizens. One receptionist was very rude when asked for some paperwork from the hospital yet it was the doctor who told me to ask for it. Only one lady doctor whose very blunt no warmth. Receptionists don't know who some of the doctors are as too many locums. Was kept waiting 45 minutes past appointment time once causing anxiety. Some newer doctors make you feel uncomfortable and are blunt leaving you upset and anxious. Tests get lost or discarded and have to be repeated. Once the toilet was too filthy to use.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you have had a bad experience at the Practice and have tried to answer your concerns below. The Birches Medical Centre is supported by BARDOC. This improves resilience ensuring that patients receive continuity of care. The Birches Medical Centre now has 4 long-term GP's and a number of Clinical Pharmacists, which were not previously available to patients. We now rarely use locum GP's except to cover sickness or annual leave. It is a GP's responsibility to advise patients of all possible reasons for their medical complaint. This can sometimes be worrying for patients, until tests have been ordered and results received, but it would be unethical to not keep the patient fully-informed of matters pertaining to their health. We offer both emergency and routine appointments each day but demand can sometimes be high. I apologise if you have sometimes been unable to book a same day appointment. Our telephone lines are busiest between 8am and 10am so for routine appointments or queries we ask that patients contact us between 10am and 6.30pm. I am sorry that you felt our receptionist was rude to you. I can only apologise that you felt this way. We now have 2 long-term female GP's available throughout the week. We try to see all patients at the time of their appointment however sometimes have to deal with emergencies, which unfortunately causes a delay for other patients. I apologise that the toilet was dirty when you tried to use it. The toilets should be checked regularly by Practice staff. I will ensure a cleaning schedule is in place.

Have completely lost faith in this practice, very difficult to get telephone appointment, face to face appointment is non existant, not sure if any GP are employed full time or even part time any more. Letters from hospitals regarding treatment etc not followed up or even looked at. Reception staff are fighting a losing battle. Pre covid the cracks were begining to show but now the relevant care commision need to take a look at this practice which is not giving any service.

Thank you for your feed back. I wish to apologise for the delay in responding. We have made significant changes to the practice over the past 12 months, we have more clinical staff which enables us to offer extra access for patients. Patients are able to book appointments on the day or in advance and can choose face to face or remote consultations. All hospital letters are dealt with by either one of our inhouse pharmacists or one of our GPs. I hope you have seen a positive change to the service we offer since this review.
