  1. Review titled Booking a telephone call

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Neil Halliwell - Posted on 25 March 2023

I am told the engaged tone only occurs when 15 people are in the telephone queue This is difficult to reconcile with the engaged tone seconds after 8am. Something is wrong with this booking system. Something is wrong here. Would increasing the number of people in the queue work? This is not an acceptable service at the moment

  2. Review titled Contacting the Surgery

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Neil Halliwell - Posted on 23 March 2023

The system of ringing the surgery does not work. It is always engaged. Saying you are very busy is obvious and unhelpful. Please invest in a telephone queue system which tells the caller where they are in the queue

Thank you for your feedback. We have a cloud based telephony system that has 15 queue positions. If these positions are currently filled when you call you will receive an engaged tone.

  3. Review titled Wonderful Nurse

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sam - Posted on 17 January 2023

I know first hand the importance of smear tests and why it is so important to make an appointment when the NHS letter arrives. I know that there are many who feel embarrassed or uncomfortable with having smears, but please let me reassure them that the service and care provided by the nurses at Billesdon is amazing. I don’t think I can put names, but the nurse who saw me today was so kind, friendly, gentle and fast. It was over before I’d even registered that she had started. Her professionalism was also fantastic. I hope that this helps with anyone who has any concerns.

  4. Review titled Terrible Experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

The service of the doctors is awful. Test Results are read to you over the phone by receptionists. It is difficult to have a face to face appointment with a doctor. The telephone conversations they are in favour of are so impersonal. So here I am still with my health issues and feel that I have been left in the middle of nowhere and that no one at my doctors practice cares.

I have COPD, Asthma and Diabetes, with a chest infection, when i phoned to make an appointment, after 45minutes on the phone i was told by the receptionist that i couldn't have an appointment and to phone back at 08.00 tomorrow to speak to a doctor over the phone, when i asked what happens if he recommends anti-biotics would i then have to make an appointment? "call at 08.00 tomorrow" was the answer. lets hope it doesn't turn into pneumonia

  6. Review titled Impossible to get through

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 December 2022

It is impossible for elderly people suffering from dementia to get through the telephone system. I have tried on behalf of an elderly relative to talk to Reception/Nurses/Drs and it takes a minimum of 30 minutes. Old people find this very frustrating. On one occasion I was number 40! in the queue just after 0800. It seems to me that this surgery has too many patients than they can handle and people are not getting the care and attention they deserve. All the running is being done by patients trying to navigate the telephone system when it is healthcare professionals that need to be proactively following up on treatment outcomes.

  7. Review titled I have never been so disgusted by a practice in my life!

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Olivia Keene - Posted on 05 September 2022

The doctors/nurses themselves are exceptional, I have always been given brilliant care when going for an appointment. However, the receptionist are absolutely vile. After my baby’s 1 year check up, the health visitor advised me to have him checked by the doctor as he occasionally has uneven pupils. I’d then taken him in to the doctors and the receptionist has told me to call up at 8am the next morning to make an appointment. I explained that I can never get hold of the doctors, and once I finally get in the call queue, there are no appointments left for the day so I’ve asked for an appointment in advance. I had explained what the problem was to with my sons eyes and she replied “well they look fine to me!” I never realised the receptionist could give a medical diagnosis like that. She had then booked my baby in for an appointment a week later without even taking his name. When it was time for my baby to have his first round of injections, I was advised by the nurse he was unable to have his rotavirus treatment. This was because the practice had failed to log his results from his newborn blood spot test on the system however I’d had my copy of the results for weeks. After his 3rd round injections, I kept receiving appointments for his last round of jabs. I’d informed the health visitor and she said to ignore the letter, it’s obviously an error and the appointment will be cancelled when his the practice log his last round of jabs on the system. I kept receiving more and more letters and was then told that he’d have to be revaccinated. I’d then gone into the practice and the receptionist is having argument with me that I’ve wasted NHS time and the appointments could of been given to someone else. However, I did exactly what a health professional told me to do with ignoring the letters as this was an error, and I wouldn’t have been sent the letter if the practice had actually logged the vaccines on the system.

  8. Review titled Worrying

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 October 2022

There is no queuing system for getting a GP on the day call, it is just engaged so you call over and over again until told all the appointments are gone. It means some patients health deteriorates until hospital treatment is needed.

  9. Review titled Discriminatory Staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 July 2022

The practise places no cadence at all on providing an inclusive environment / service for patients. Despite listening to repeated messages on how they operate a zero-tolerance policy towards their staff whenever you phone or they text you - it is fine for their reception team to use discriminatory language to patients - that leaves you feeling unable to access the health care you need. How can this be a practise that cares for patients ? In the 2020's - as members of the L G B T Q + community - we have the right to be treated fairly and equally. This practise is operating decades behind - and places no priority on responding / resolving and ensuring they treat all in a fair and equitable manner.

  10. Review titled No Complaints

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 August 2022

Both my husband and I have nothing but praise for Billesdon Surgery, even over the last two years during the Coronavirus Epidemic. The staff have always been helpful and polite. We have both had hospital appointments during this time which have been arranged by the surgery, and follow-ups . They always keep us informed , usually by telephone and we have no complaints whatever.
