Review titled Very good Doctors Surgery
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Gary spong - Posted on 31 May 2023
appointment was on time , actually early, the nurse was very friendly and professional as she/he has been in the past. I had a glued eyebrow which she/he removed a lot of the excess glue and gave good advice re removing the rest

I have been on a cancer journey for 3 years. The Allum practise have been supportive, informative and caring throughout , whilst having to deal with Covid too. Three of their receptionists are exceptional. When I have been highly stressed they supported me in a very kind way. Thankyou so much.

Allum Medical centre acted quickly and effectively to my medical needs. I was given appropriate advice and they took action to ensure my concerns were escalated by a referral where necessary. The service provided is comprehensive and takes a patient centred approach

Review titled Dismissive doctor
Rated 3 stars out of 5

After calling the surgery for an appointment for my child, the GP phoned back to ask about my son’s symptoms and he gave advice on how to manage him at home. Due to my child’s complex medical background, I had to give him more information and I had a lot of questions to ask but unfortunately, the GP said that he has spent too much time on the phone with me. He said that he was with me for over 6 minutes already and that he still has 30+ more patients to call. He was in a hurry to finish our consultation. He said that this is NHS and so he ended the call. I completely understand the pressure in NHS services. I work for the NHS myself but I would never ever tell my patient what he said. That he could not listen anymore ‘because this is NHS’. We may not have control over the pressures, but we get to choose how we talk and how we act in front of our patients. He was dismissive and I was not able to say anything else apart from ‘okay’. I have spoken to other GPs before and they were quite accommodating, that is why I was surprised to have experienced this kind of telephone appointment. It makes a difference to patients and families’ lives to be more empathetic and sensitive during appointments despite the pressure.

I am providing feedback on the excellent nurse who vaccinated my baby today, 6 April 2023. She was friendly, kind, respectful and took time to explain everything and answer questions. I hope to have her for all future vaccination appointments. She is a credit to the surgery.

Review titled Nurse & GP good experience
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 April 2023
I have been with Allum medical practice for 22 years. They were excellent when I joined. The last 5 years, not so much. I do think they are trying hard to improve their service. My last 3 experiences have been a very marked improvement. When you are finally able to get an appointment the nurse I saw, and the GP were truly excellent, kind, listened and helped me with what I attended for. The 8 am phone dash to secure an appointment, taking me over an hour on 3 occasions is maddening, you are felt feeling helpless and unimportant. The reception staff are friendly, but some are slow and there is a large turn over of staff to my eye, so they appear to be training new people frequently. They have a huge catchment of patience, and working in the NHS is hard. Not enough staff any where. So be persistent, but respectful and you will get the help you need.
