    1; In sept 24 i attended an anima support session; explained my problem..lady who said she was head of receptionists said she needed to do something to get me on anima but would call me in the week and meet me again to set it up; never heard from her. 3 times ive told receptionists about this but still nothing. 2; ive tried 3 times to see a particular GP and finally this morning offered a date in about 3 weeks (thats fine i expected that!); i said i want a double appointment as i needed to spend time going through the issues; i was told you cant have one. i said i understood a patient can ask for one; receptionist (who ive encountered before and is not very helpful) said i dont have one on that date ive given you..i asked when she could offer me a double appointment with that GP and she claimed there was not one available ! She then went on to give me a lecture on how an ex nurse runs the practice and understands all the issues a patient faces ! The service is really very poor at point of access I am trying to take control of my own health but Thatcham medical centre systems do not make it easy. One has to jump so many hurdles right from teh first phone call

    Though most of the doctors, nurses and staff are very friendly, this practise needs knocking down and rebuilding in a metaphorical sense. Phoned to book an appointment, the admin actually said "wow, you don't come here very often" to which I replied, "It normally takes so long to get an appointment that I'm either better or ill be dead". She laughed and then booked me a telephone appointment in 3 weeks! 😂 Seriously though it's actually frightening, or illustrious council area continuing to override planning agreements to build more housing estates in thatcham, and none of them have medical or education services. If it takes me 3 weeks to get a telephone appointment, 6 months to get someone to approve me needing an ultrasound, what on earth will it be like with another 2000 people living here. We need another surgery or this one needs a serious upgrade/extension.

    I saw a Nurse Practitioner today. The issue that I had, had quite a complex history, which was not available on the system due to a recent relocation to the area. He managed the appointment with respect and made me feel incredibly listened to. He validated my concerns and it felt like he really considered the impact that the issue was having on me. I also had a similar experience a few months ago with a Dr. I genuinely feel like the staff here really value and care about their patients, and would highly recommend them.

    Today I phoned 111 and was given referral. So logged on the only referral was from Friday when no one phoned me. To day went to chemist who refereed me to medical centre and sent away to log in to anima again only referral is from Friday. I have given up now when you are ill don't want red tap. Perhaps we need to close all medical centers as impossible to get seen
