Went for a flu vaccination. The clinic was well organised with very little queueing. Vaccination done quickly and efficiently by a very kind member of the practice team.

  4. Review titled No Answer

Rated 1 star out of 5

I contacted this medical practice in my capacity as a hospital pharmacist, so that I could confirm a patient's medication as they were on holiday. I waited on the phone for over 30 minutes, constantly being told that I was in position 2 in the queue, but there was no progress and I didn't have time to wait any longer. I struggle to believe that the people in the queue before me were on the phone for 30 minutes, which makes me suspect that the receptionists were not actually answering the phone at all. An option for healthcare professionals to speak to a receptionist without waiting would be helpful and I feel sympathy for the patients having to routinely wait this long to speak to someone.

  5. Review titled Well pleased.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I came in with a bad continuous cough, I saw the practice nurse who gave me a thorough examination and prescribed me a course of antibiotics. I was most pleased with the attention and care, my cough is all but gone. Thank you.

  6. Review titled A Big Thank You

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Julie Tizzard - Posted on 08 April 2023

My son came into the surgery for an appointment and afterwards he was waiting for his prescription at the chemists when he began to feel faint. He asked a lady next to him to get him some help and within seconds 3 lovely ladies came over with a wheelchair to help him. They wheeled him to privacy and a friendly doctor took him in and thoroughly checked him over. My son is 26 but was still frightened by the experience, he said how kind and reassuring everyone was so I just want to say a big thank you to the staff concerned and the lady who helped him, it’s very much appreciated.

  7. Review titled Told lies.

Rated 1 star out of 5

After having an emergency appointment this afternoon with a fantastic GP. The GP requested that I keep an already scheduled appointment for two weeks time. The GP herself said that the appointment is with myself so just keep it. Only ten minutes later I got home and received a text cancelling the follow up. On immediately calling the surgery I was told “Your appointment has been cancelled due to sickness.” I explained to the receptionist that I had only just had an appointment with the GP in question and she asked me to keep the appointment. She was not sick ten minutes ago. The receptionist once again said it’s due to sickness, again I had to explain that I was with the GP only ten minutes ago who I have the follow up with. The GP insisted I keep the appointment with her. How can she be sick only ten minutes later and I get a text saying the appointment is cancelled. The receptionist informed me there and then that my appointment had been reinstated. I’m furious. This appointment was a for a very poorly little boy. Who needs medical help. Once again I can not praise the GP we saw enough. She was fantastic. To be lied to be reception staff is not acceptable.

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback. I have listened to the telephone conversation and your appointment was cancelled due to staff sickness, which was unavoidable. The doctor you initially talked to was the 'Duty Doctor' and not the Doctor with whom you were booked into for the follow up consultation. The receptionist did not lie. We apologise for any misunderstanding caused. Please contact me at the surgery if you wish to discuss the matter further. Clare Jackman Practice Manager

Dear Patient, Thank you for providing feedback on your recent experience. I am sorry to hear your recent experience was less than satisfactory. As you can appreciate it is very difficult for the practice to investigate concerns raised, when a patient chooses to post anonymously. If you require to discuss this further, please email ddicb.managers.swad@nhs.net and we will be happy to investigate this matter further for you. Clare Jackman Practice Manager

Even when you manage to get through they ask you a brief reason of why your calling tell you something different they ain't clinically trained to tell me what my problems are pr when I can speak to a doctor I live through the pain not them!!! They need better communication and some better staff to answer the phones it's an absolute joke!!!!

  10. Review titled Great practice with amazing team.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 February 2024

I’ve joined Swadlincote Surgery a year ago and my first appointment didn’t really go as planned. Even though I’ve missed it and have not fully made it into the surgery, after my collapse outside, the doctors and nurses team were a massive help and very professional when dealing with that situation. I’ve had another appointment not long ago and once again, got checked out and treated accordingly. Could not fault this surgery, very happy with their service and hard work!
