  1. Review titled Excellent Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by John Curnow - Posted on 08 June 2023

Had a minor op which was superbly done by very efficient staff. I would give maximum stars for this practice over the many years I have been with them. The ones giving one star moaning about waiting times should go to A&E if it’s that urgent and spend the day waiting to see a very overworked staff. I’ll wait my turn at Stonefield St Surgery.

  2. Review titled Reception Staff and GPs are great

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by S Abbas - Posted on 06 January 2023

My son was poorly, ran up at 8am, I was 8th in the queue and within 5 minutes my call was answered. The receptionist was helpful, they managed to get me an appointment for 10am. Was seen precisely at my appointment time, GP reassured me with regards to the problem and we were out in 10-15 mins. Every time I have called for an appointment I have been given one same day or within a reasonable time frame. I work for the NHS and know how difficult the pressures are on NHS staff. The staff and GPs are all great. They all do whatever they can for the patients. Thank you

  3. Review titled Excellent practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

In my experience this is a very good practice. Yes the phone waits are frustrating, yes appts went to telephone most of the time during Covid but this has been a global time of extreme pressure. But I have always been able to see a GP and have been able to see who I want if I’m prepared to wait. The reception staff are friendly, the doctors are caring and they have changed to face to face appts also now while many other surgeries haven’t. Telephone appts are very convenient particularly for people who work.

  4. Review titled Waiting Times

Current advice is ring daily at 8am to see if you can get a same day appointment, to book an appointment it will be about a 6 week wait.

Good morning Anonymous, I am unsure who has advised you of this. the current waiting time is 2 weeks depending on which GP you wish to see. During this time there is a Bank holiday weekend, which does have an impact on waiting times. We do have some urgent appointments each day and the this morning we also had appointments available for tomorrow. If you have a problem with getting seen then please ring and ask to speak to the Office Manager. We have Never had a wait time of 6 weeks

  5. Review titled Mixed feelings but good today:-)

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I have had challenges getting timely appointments with this surgery over the last couple of years but today, I called and they offered me a telephone appointment same day. Good result! I'll be on a waiting list now for minor surgery but both the reception service and the doctor were understanding, patient and kind when speaking to me. (I just wish they would change the answer message on the phone as it is upsetting to think you cannot get an appointment).

  6. Review titled You are not welcome to call this practice

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 August 2022

All practices are under pressure but for some reason this practice adopts a very disturbing welcome message that says if you are looking for an appointment the waiting time is more than one week and that this appointment will only be a telephone appointment at which the doctor will decide if you need a face-to-face. This has been true of all my appointments and I worry tremendously that if I did need a face to face for an infection or something, the help simply would not be there. My experience of the hospital has been a 12 hour wait for an ambulance and then being left in a waiting room for a further 8 hours before being brought home untreated and with severe dehydration due to no drinks being offered to me, so I dont even have the option of going to a hospital. This is wrong and I have no option but to look for a surgery that will at least give a more welcoming message when calling. My last call to the practice was today and after the initial horrid message I was connected to a very helpful and considerate lady. I only wish they would change that vile message.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. The message on the phones is to inform patients that there currently is a wait to get a routine appointment. We are really pleased the the receptionist that you spoke to was very helpful. With regards to appointments, we do offer both face to face and telephone and I will look to amend the message to reflect this. We can deal with more patients over the phone than we can face to face so the wait for a face to face appointment is longer. We are looking changes to the appointment system from September that will hopefully make things better and have a new GP that has started this week. Thank you for your continued support. SSS

  7. Review titled No appointments

Rated 1 star out of 5

Called on 15 August, first appointment available for face to face with GP 12 September or phone consultation 5 September. Had to call 111 who got GP to call me, then asked to attend for blood and urine tests. Called again on 17 August for test result and asked the receptionist if I could speak with a GP or could a GP call me as I had deteriorated the receptionist said no I could not speak with a GP and no GP would be able to call me back. Had to call 111 again this time 111 GP told me to attend Urgent Care without delay. Fast tracked at Urgent Care put on a cocktail of IV antibiotics admitted into hospital 5 days later still in hospital. Since the pandemic this surgery appears to have forgotten about its patients.

Dear patient, We are so sorry you have had a bad experience. Demand is extremely high at the moment, but we do have urgent appointments each day. Please can you call the surgery this afternoon (or any day after 1.00 Monday to Friday) after 1.00pm and ask for Cat, so she can take some details to look into this. It is far better we learn that something has gone wrong from the patient rather than on a website so we can do some training with the staff member as we have 5 new staff members. Many thanks

  8. Review titled Started well

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I couldn't fault this practice until Covid came along. Since then getting an initial face to face appt with a GP isn't an option. The majority of other practices have reverted back to initial face to faces so why aren't you? Secondly, the new building for the practice is coming along nicely, I only hope for the patients sake it isn't going to become Stonefield St & Milnrow Village Practice call centre.

  9. Review titled Very poor

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Fed up patient - Posted on 22 June 2022

All appointments still done by telephone and refusing face to face. Despite saying there is a 1 week wait it took 3 weeks to speak to a gp and 2 1/2 weeks to see a nurse. Can take several days to get through on the phone! On several occasions have lost samples or sent them for the wrong tests. Reception staff generally very unhelpful. When the consultants secretary is saying how rude and unhelpful they are you think they’d know there was a problem, but they seem not to care.

Dear Patient, we are sorry to hear you are having difficulties getting appointments. You say we are refusing Face to Face appointments, however, all the Doctors and nurses have both Face to face and telephone appointments as do the Physio and Mental health worker. These may have a longer wait as we can deal with more patients by phone. The phone message says - it is currently more than 1 week and having just checked we have nurse appointments for next week. Current NHS guidance is to be able to offer a ROUTINE appointment within 2 weeks which we do. We have emergency appointments every day available from 8am.Is it you are asking for a specific Dr/Nurse. If you wish to let the office manager know about the problem with samples we can look into this for you. If the consultant secretary would like to contact the manager this can be discussed but we have not had any such feedback. We are sorry you feel this way as we strive to give the best service to all our patients

  10. Review titled Random Phone calls

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 July 2022

if you want to speak to a doctor who wants to help, go somewhere else. this practice provides phone calls from random "doctors" who dont have a clue who you are or what your problem is. You wait 2 weeks for a phone call, only to get a hurried conversation with somebody who wants you off the line as quickly as possible. You are treated like an inconvenience and ultimately get nowhere, leaving you back at square one needing to phone for an appointment hoping the next "doctor" will have taken the time to read your notes and actually try and help. Prepare to be disappointed
