  1. Review titled Website problems

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I have tried to order my repeat prescription online via the Medical Centre website. I have found it impossible. I click the 'Repeat prescription' and am taken to a page with no mention of ordering prescriptions. I have been round and round in circles until I finally gave up and decided to take the form to the surgery tomorrow. I don't normally have computer problems but this is hopeless. And now I've had to take still more time correcting my message because the initials of Stokenchurch Medical Centre and information technology are deemed words completely in capitals and therefore unacceptable. This is just not well thought out.

Hello Caroline, I will ask our IT Manager to contact you to gain a fuller understanding of why you are experiencing difficulties. We have over 2,000 patients who regularly use this function to order repeat medication without any issues. Thank you, Martin Elliott, Practice Manager.

  2. Review titled Fantastic Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

We have been registered at this surgery since 2021 and I honestly could not rate them higher. All staff have been pleasant from admin, reception, nurses through to GPs - I cannot fault them. Response times for appointments are superb and appointments and follow ups are thorough and professional. Myself, my Husband and 3 year old Daughter have had various appointments in the last 2 years and the service has been great. Having lived in a London Borough previously for 36 years I can tell you what a stark contrast it is. Hour long Hold times and at least a 8 day lead time for an appointment is the norm - which shows the stretch the NHS is under. Thank you to SMC - your service is very much appreciated!!

  3. Review titled Lovely staff, dreadful admin

Rated 1 star out of 5

Had a blood test on 11th April, a (locum?) GP called me a couple of days later, asked me to change BP meds and monitor bp and report it back to practice in a weeks time. Have been trying to do this for three days through econsult whis has been unavailable for three days after 9.30 am.

Thank you Michael for your comment. I'm sorry that you have been frustrated in submitting these readings. E-consult is usually open between 7.00 am and 12 noon daily. We reserve the right on safety grounds to close e-consult early when demand outstrips capacity. When this is closed, and in an emergency a receptionist can forward a request to the duty doctor via contact by telephone or in person. In your case if you can't wait to submit, then you can always send them in written form, or hand them to a receptionist, or posted them through the door if we are closed. Regards, Martin Elliott, Practice Manager.

  4. Review titled E consult - what a farce!

Asked to have an annual diabetic review used to be easy, phone and make an appointment. Now have to use e consult but how? No links or instructions on Medical Centre website!! This is NOT an improvement, just impossible to make this annual diabetic review!

  5. Review titled E-consult unsatisfactory and administration inefficient

Rated 1 star out of 5

Following e-Consult I have rarely spoken to the same doctor twice so have to re-explain everything each time. With no inkling of when a request will be answered, I often miss a return call and am left with a voicemail which I cannot then query except by submitting a further online request. This has wasted so much time for the surgery and me that could have been avoided by a 10 minute GP appointment in the first place. But I have found it impossible even to speak to a doctor's receptionist on the telephone. This is not a fit for purpose service. Compounded by medical reports sent to surgery not being filed in my records. I attended personally in April to deliver second copy of medical report which it now transpires has also not been filed in my medical records. Have been requested to deliver a third copy. I imagine that high blood pressure is something many patients experience when trying to deal with this surgery.

Thank you for your comment - I did respond to this in April 2022, but appears not to have been published? Times have changed with many GP's now being part-time. With demand exceeding capacity every day of the week it is nearly impossible to guarantee that you will speak with the same GP every time. Like any appointment it is your responsibility to be available to receive telephone calls, and I reject that you can't speak with a receptionist to relate that you missed a call. Yes, you may have to wait on the phone, but we are also open 8.30 am - 6.30 pm for patients to drop-in. If you had left your name or more preferably contacted me regarding your blood pressure submissions this could have been looked into, but I am sorry that you feel frustrated. Regards, Martin Elliott, Practice Manager.

  6. Review titled Fast, effective and responsive care

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Hilary - Posted on 14 April 2022

I put an e-consult in on Monday morning. Telephone call received that morning and triaged by medical student who was very good. Appointment made for later that morning. I was in the surgery for over an hour receiving excellent treatment. Saw a medical student, a GP and a nurse. All tests done there and then. Received follow up call that evening and the following day with texts giving further information. I felt genuinely cared for by all concerned. Thank you to all staff involved!
