  1. Review titled Concerned patient

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I am contacting you via this app as there doesn’t seem to be any other way. I called in to the Steyning surgery this week to request a blood test for Hep C as I am concerned because of all the recent publicity on the news. In 1987 I suffered retained placenta several weeks after giving birth and was quite ill which resulted in my having to have a blood transfusion. A year or so later, after suffering another miscarriage, I had to have another blood transfusion. Although I discussed it with the doctor at the time, I was advised not to have a test. I had an email from you today suggesting I request an NHS testing kit. I have tried that already but could not generate enough blood to fill the vial provided. Therefore, if I can’t have a blood test in the surgery I am going to continue to be anxious.

  3. Review titled Unacceptable

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Kayleigh - Posted on 17 May 2024

The front desk team were so nice and helpful in getting me an urgent appointment the same day after feeling unwell for 11 days. When I finally got to see the doctor, I was in her examination room for less than a minute before she told me there was nothing wrong with me and to go home. She did not even fully examine me nor let me finish explaining my symptoms. 2 days later I got worse and saw an after hours doctor elsewhere who told me I had a bacterial lung infection that needed antibiotics asap. If this went untreated he said I would have likely been in hospital within the next week. Really disappointed with my experience with the doctor at Steyning Medical Centre, she really did not care or take what I was saying seriously. Good thing I listened to my instincts and got a second opinion.

  4. Review titled Amazing practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Came over from another practice and was super chuffed that I could talk to the doctors and they listened and wasn’t dismissed. I’m so so happy that I moved here.

The locum GP who saw me was excellent. Very sympathetic approach and treatment regime recommended plus medication prescribed were explained clearly.

Ability to make apt was straightforward and easy. GP was attentive, thorough, respectful and took time to listen to my query/anxiety. Reassured & further action enacted in a timely manner. Forever grateful for the NHS.

  7. Review titled Practice on the up

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Owing to concern about a boney lump I asked to see a GP face to face. My concern was taken very seriously and I was seen very promptly and referred for an x-ray and blood tests. These were arranged by the Practice extremely quickly and I await the results, the timing of which is outside the control of the Practice. I particularly commend the receptionist who acted with speed and compassion and two Doctors who listened, reassured me and reacted very promptly, but kindly, to my concerns. I conclude that the Practice is trying very hard to improve patients' experiences after a very difficult period during and since the pandemic.

  8. Review titled I Want Great Care Review

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Mike of Steyning - Posted on 23 March 2024

This is an actual experience on 22nd March 2023. I have been invited to review my experience of an appointment for ear wax removal on Friday 22nd March at Steyning Health Centre. I am unable to post it because I do not have a Twitter account. Really? The appointment was successful but this review is also unlikely to be published as apparently it doesn't relate to an actual experience and has to be reviewed by a moderation team. Once again - Really?

  9. Review titled Quite shocked at attitude

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 December 2023

I called early recently as had been struggling to inhale following influenza. I was called back late in the day and asked "can you be at the surgery in 15minutes" As I was unwell in bed and live 20mins away I said I couldnt. The doctor replied " well I offered" and then hung up on me!! To be honest I was shocked at such discourtesy and lack of understanding.

  10. Review titled Rude receptionist

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 November 2023

I phoned to get an appointment for my 13 year old son, who is struggling to walk. Firstly the receptionist didn't seem interested, and then when she said someone will call you back as I'm not booking appointments , we have no face to face appointments , I mean, it was 8.15 am! I wanted an appointment after 4pm for a minor! I said I won't have access to my phone after 10am, as I have to work, and we aren't allowed our phones. Her reply was we all have to work and I have children too. I'll put preferably before 10am, but cannot guarantee, then hung up the phone on me. Yes she put my back up, but that's because of her attitude early on in the call. Think she needs to learn some compassion and how to speak to patients on a phone. I call last night and was told they couldn't book in advance to call at 8am to galet an appointment Seems odd that whenever we call there is always 2 doctors off sick. In other words they cannot get the staff. Can never see the same Dr either. Something needs to be done.
