Review titled Round about nightmare.
Rated 1 star out of 5

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with St Richard Road Surgery, and I must say, it has been quite possibly the most useless medical service I've ever encountered. My partner has been suffering from inflamed and swollen ankles for several days and, after a struggle, managed to secure an appointment by phoning St Richard's Surgery at the crack of dawn. However, this appointment was given without any confirmation of time. The time then given via text was no good for him. In the meantime, we were advised to visit a walk-in clinic, where he ended up waiting a staggering 5.5 hours just to be seen. After all that time, he was told he needed to arrange a blood test with his local GP. The online system supposedly makes this easy at St Richard’s, but don’t be fooled. Even with an appointment, he was turned away by one of the rather unhelpful receptionists when he arrived for his blood test. He was informed that his bloods couldn’t be taken without first seeing a doctor, despite having an appointment scheduled for the next day. The whole process felt unnecessarily convoluted and inefficient. It seems that no adjustments can be made to appointments, not even by a minute. When he asked for alternatives, he was left with the suggestion to call 999 or seek help elsewhere, i.e. A&E, which is hardly reassuring.

Review titled Terrible service
Rated 2 stars out of 5

I completed a e-consult form on the 4 April regarding a possible infection I had that I had been suffering from for 5 days, and was given an appointment for the 9 May. The condition over the next two weeks got worse so I phoned the surgery and asked if I should phone in the morning to get an appointment. I was told its pointless phoning in the morning as they never have any appointments free, and was told to do a second econsult form. I filled in another econsult form and when it completed it said that I needed to speak to someone that day. I phoned the surgery and told them this. They checked whilst I was on the phone and confirmed they had the second econsult form. I was told to keep my phone close by as they may need to phone me. All I got was a text message saying I had to wait until the appointment on 9 May. In then end I phoned the Deal Hub and explained and they said to attend the minor injuries department and I would be seen by a Doctor. After being triaged the doctor said if my condition had been left any longer it could have become a serious medical condition. The Deal Hub gave me more care and attention in 30 minutes than St Richards Road Surgery had given in 3 weeks.

Review titled Awful practice..
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Teresa tazey - Posted on 25 March 2024
Waited today for over 51minutes in the phone queue started at caller number 8. When I got to caller number 1 the line cut off. In the past few years i have seen my mother told she is being refered and nothing happens, no referals, late telephone calls, I mean over 10 minutes late calling. But if you are 2minutes late for your appointment after waiting in the queue to book in because the booking in system isnt working yet again, your appointment gets cancelled on you whilst your waiting. Blood tests requested but not added to files for the blood nurse to do so she has to chase the doctor to find out what is wanted. The care is just not there, it has gotten worse for my mum since she turned 70. Its feels like she is too much trouble to be bothered with now.

Review titled Shameful Practice

My experience with the surgery is very bad. No face to face appointment with doctor in last 5 years. When I finally get the appointment after 7 days in pain the doctor called it! I have wasted my day off from work. Also I had a testicular cancer, I should have been checked every year. This surgery hasn’t done any check ups in 5 years! The best thing is when I left a review on google the surgery has removed it.

Review titled disappointing phone waiting times
by J Clayton - Posted on 30 May 2023
I phoned the surgery at 2.10pm on the 30th May to get blood test results and I was told "you are number 2 in the queue, by 2.30pm (20 minutes later), I was told "you are number one in the queue" my call was not answered until 3.00pm. Surely two previous callers do not take 20 and 30 minutes each to get a response from the operators and make appointments or give results of tests, this seems to be an inordonate period of time to wait on the phone to get a response, it also gives a false idea of being number one or two in the queue, I did not expect to wait almost an hour to speak to an operator being told I was number two and then one. I would appreciate a response and an explanation of why it takes so long.
