  1. Review titled No duty of care

Rated 1 star out of 5

My daughter had just come out from hospital, her condition hadn't changed so called Southway surgery, for them to refuse to see her as they were full. They told me to call 111, which I did, they told me they had referred her back to the surgery, for them to say, that was silly and they still refused to see my daughter Called 111 again and was told as she was complex she really needs to go hospital. Terrible service from this practice. My daughter was extremely unwell and they refused to see her. Disgusting. So now I have removed her from Southway surgery. Thry have a duty of care which thry failed to deliver to a child. Well done

  3. Review titled Used to be good but not any more

Asked for feedback following blood tests and was told a doctor would ring. This didn't happen. Another nurse told me to make an appointment with the mole clinic. I was subsequently told they had no mole clinic. I have been so dissatisfied that I have now left this practice

I have had to use the gp service 4 times in just over a week for all 3 of my children, on all 4 occasions I was called back very quickly after submitting the econsult and given a same day appointment. With all the negative things you hear about gp services recently I would just like to thank you for being so swift in responding and treating my children.

  5. Review titled Poor, uncaring surgery. Has gone downhill.

Rated 1 star out of 5

After spending one and a half hours on the phone trying to get through to request if a Dr could call me. I was at the time in extreme agony and pain in my lower back. I was advised by a very uncaring receptionist that they no longer take take requests on the phone, I had to do this online. I advised the receptionist that I have tried on numerous occasions to do this online but have been unsuccessful in getting a log in. That was why I was phoning. Didn’t even offer to be helpful in any way what so ever. I asked if she could just give my details to the dr, so the dr could call me. I was told no. They don’t do anything like that anymore or book appointments. I gave up in the end. And spent 3weeks in agony. But it is ok for them to contact me to book my flu inj. Which I asked if they can make an appointment for me to have an inj why couldn’t they pass my details to the duty dr to call me, when I needed the dr. As I couldn’t get online. The response I got was silence they could not answer. My main worry is, is how many other patients just give up like I did as felt there is no compassion or care from the surgery. I have worked for the NHS for over 20 years, and we are told the patient comes 1st, but where Southway Sugery is concerned I don’t think that is the case. This surgery was once a caring, compassionate surgery, but that is not the case now. Very unhelpful and I feel there is no care anymore for the patients.

  7. Review titled Uncaring practice that blocks all access to GPs

Rated 1 star out of 5

Appointments can only be secured by filling in a detailed online form with many sections. This is inappropriate for the elderly, those with learning difficulties and potentially those with mental health challenges. There are no reassurances about confidentiality. The form then generates a telephone appointment with any member of staff at the facility- you cannot make a selection or a request- you get what you are given- however inappropriate or unqualified that person might be. I consider this practice to be unsafe. Many ailments require an in person service with an expert. This is actively blocked. The phones are never answered.

  9. Review titled Poor practice

Southway Surgery has seriously deteriorated. It used to be excellent. It no longer is. I suffer from anxiety issues and about a year ago my meds were changed when I was doing fine on the previous ones. The new meds were not working very well so about 6 months ago my dosage was increased. I was given a date for a follow up phone call to review how this was working. I took the day off. No one called. The new meds continue to function poorly, and seem to be causing bouts of depression as a side effect. Since many years ago I attempted to kill myself due to depression, this is potentially serious. After a particularly bad couple of days I called the surgery to explain that I was struggling with mental health issues. I was told that I would have to wait a month for a call back. When I pointed out that I never got the review call I waited in all day for, they said I would have to wait a month for that too. So I attempted to do an e consult the following morning instead. The email I got back informed me that I would recieve a response by 6.30pm of the following day. So I spent two days anxiously awaiting a phone call which was only worsening my mental health. At 2.30pm of the second day, feeling increasingly depressed and low, I contacted NHS111. They called me back almost immediately and spoke to me and sent an email to my surgery expressing the importance of them arranging for a doctor to call me within two hours. They didn't. I chased up my surgery on the phone, and got told they'd had computer issues and to call back the following morning. No doctor from the surgery has called to speak to me. An email from an NHS111 nurse expressing the importance of this appears to have been blatantly ignored. I also asked if I could go back onto my old meds, a few of which I still have left, pending a new prescription. Obviously the receptionist could not authorise that but I have to wait until tomorrow before a doctor can be bothered to find the time. What is most unacceptable here, is that all this failure to get a problem addressed is actually worsening my condition, which fact the receptionist acknowledged. And far worse, the urgency the surgery was informed of by a qualified NHS111 nurse of a need to speak to me promptly was blatantly ignored. This would never have happened in earlier years.
