The nurse who I went to see was so caring and it was the first time I had blood taken with her she was friendly but professional what a change from rush rush on doctors that don't even know your name let alone give conversation Thank you

  3. Review titled Great Experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Dave Hacker - Posted on 15 May 2025

The change in the appointments system certainly worked for me this morning. I filled out a very simple on-line form and sent it at 08:30, within 20 minutes I got a reply which gave me a choice of times and doctors. I saw a doctor at 10:55. This is the second time I have used the new appointments system with the same result. As you get older visits to the doctors become more frequent. From my experience of SMG I have always found the reception staff and the medical staff very helpful and friendly. Thank you!

  4. Review titled Reception attitude is absolutely disgusting

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by Rita G - Posted on 01 April 2025

The receptionist treats with me (and others) with absolutely disgusting, disrespectful and not helpful at all. I honestly have enough of coming here, clearly when come here, already have health issues/concerns. The last thing I need is an arrogant rude receptionist talking down on me. Review who you allow at the reception before it’s expand and causing you bigger issues!

I have been suffering extreme depression and the reception staff and my GP have been nothing short of amazing. I have been supported and really taken care of.

  6. Review titled The worst

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Hayley - Posted on 16 March 2025

I am absolutely disgusted by the treatment I received from the receptionist at Southgate Medical Centre. I went in needing help with my mental health, only to be met with rudeness and a complete lack of compassion. Instead of being understanding and helpful, the receptionist was dismissive, disrespectful, and made me feel even worse. A medical practice should be a place where people feel safe and supported, but this experience left me feeling the opposite. If this is how they treat patients who are already struggling, then something seriously needs to change. Absolutely unacceptable. Would not recommend this place to anyone who values kindness and professionalism.

  7. Review titled Very good practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Recently myself and my daughter have had several health issues. The reception staff have been excellent helping me to get an appointment and spending time helping me with getting the right help. Once l got to see my doctor they offered excellent ongoing help with physio and advice on how to improve my situation. It’s not always easy to get an appointment but that’s because so many people need their help. I would urge anyone seeking an appointment to be patient and kind to the staff and doctors as they are doing a great job under extreme pressure. We are lucky to have the NHS and all those who work within it . Thank you All the team at Southgate Medical Group l really appreciate how you have looked after my family and l for over 70 years.

  8. Review titled Arrogant, rude, disrespectful receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 March 2025

Absolutely not recommended! The receptionist talked to me like I’m nothing, she was rude, arrogant disrespectful! My appointment was cancelled and I was not informed at all. The receptionist also “threatened” me that if I don’t sit down she won’t do anything for me! She has absolutely no right to talk to anyone like this! Also there is no privacy, no one wish to discuss their personal issues front of the entire waiting room. This is not why we are paying huge amount to the nhs! Truly disgusting behaviour!

  9. Review titled Poor Customer Journey

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Dawn - Posted on 17 March 2025

More and more avoided seeking help due to front of house behaviour and constant barriers, final straw was when the receptionist fabricated a conversation. Very disappointing as most clinical staff are caring and understanding.

  10. Review titled No chance of getting an appointment here!

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by John Richards - Posted on 11 December 2024

Tried to get an appointment and doing this by phone is so long and painful, plus on a number of occasion's got so close after holding for a lifetime only to be cut off, so went into the reception to do so. This was on a Monday at 8:35am only to be told I have to book on line. I don't have a home computer and find it difficult on a mobile. I was then told that there were no appointments anyway so go to the UTC. (No appointments at 8:35am how can this be?). Fortunately I was seen at UTC relatively quickly and told I need to have a blood test but this needs to be done at the doctors surgery. I then went to the chemist to collect my prescription which is next door to the surgery. Went into the surgery at 10:45 to ask to book a blood test as requested by the UTC only to be told "you need to book on line between 8 and 11 tomorrow" (it states on the SMG website that you can visit the reception at the surgery between 8 and 11am to make an appointment) but just wasn't interested at all. How do the elderly who struggle with IT manage to do this? The doctor's there are great (when you can ever get a chance to see them) but personally I feel the whole process of trying to get an appointment lacks a complete duty of care. Still not booked a blood test as needed because the whole process makes me think what is the point, so will wait for them to act upon the discharge note. In addition to this I received a text message from the surgery saying I am not getting one of my repeat prescriptions and to book an appointment on line to discuss. What is the point, I doubt I will not be able to get the medication before I need it.
