  1. Review titled Phone appointment system failing patients

Rated 2 stars out of 5

    by J R M - Posted on 07 March 2024

I was sent a text message from the surgery to contact them by phone or fill a Doctor iq request to make a routine appointment to discuss an aspect of my recent ct scan. I phone next day, Thursday 7th March 2024 at 8am and was put on a queue at number 20. at 8:48 I was at number 1 in the queue and since then I was held for about 37 min. I decided to walk to the surgery and I was still on number 1. I spoke to one attendant at the reception who told me that the reception was very busy. Bye then I was already for nearly 50 min still at number one in the queue. I asked for a line manager to speak to but I was told that the person was not available. I spoke to the second attendant was told me that she has been dealing with patients on the phone and in person all the time and she was the only person doing that. I asked to clarify that patients could come to the surgery at the time in person to make appointments which she confirmed. I pointed out that the text I was sent did not mention that. So I was told to come back the next day because there were no more appointments available for the day. There seems to be an ethos in this surgery where patients seems to be seen as more of a nuisance than people they get funded from through the nhs. You can only feel sorry for the reception workers who are put as buffer to deal with the inefficiencies of this practice.

  2. Review titled Unprofessional practice

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I joined this practice due to its locality. Most interactions have been good however everytime I go there it's like a social gathering , with people loitering near the counter chatting casually to staff whilst they are booking patients in. This can feel quite intimidating at times and really diminishes the experience of the patient. My last visit I saw a massive Palestinian flag behind the counter prominently facing anyone who uses the reception desk. I personally feel their view of world events shouldn't be displayed in a practice that is for all people or all nations and all religions. I find it alarming that any flag is allowed to be so prominently displayed in a space that is suppose to be safe for all.

There is always someone by the desk that holds othe parents register for their application. First time a lady was holding talking for 45 minutes when I had to ask to be seen and others while this lady carries on. Second time another lady holding usthe same I asked to ne seen while she carried on for the entire time I waited to see a GP 30 minutes without any luck so I left the surgery. I am sorry to say this surgery is like a cattle market.

  5. Review titled Poor service and wasteful of NHS resources

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have an infant with health issues and have been let down by this practice time and time again. Reception staff are not competent and unhelpful. Appointments are often rushed and doctors can only deal with one health issue at a time which is does not offer comprehensive good care. Doctors have requested wrong tests and wasted NHS resources as well as patient time. When I call the practice, I often wait for 30 minutes only to be hung up on when connected several times in a row so this is intentional and unacceptable for patients who rely on this service. This practice is unreliable and unprofessional and puts health at risk.

Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I'm sorry to hear about your negative experiences with the practice and the challenges you've faced in seeking care for your infant. In situations where you feel let down by the practice, it is essential to voice your concerns directly to the management or administration of the facility. We should be made aware of the issues you have encountered, including the incompetence of reception staff, rushed appointments, and concerns about the doctors' ability to address multiple health issues comprehensively. I would be grateful if you could provide me with further details so I can fully investigate and respond appropriately. Please contact me directly somerstownmedical@nhs.net. Kind regards, Nazmin- Practice Manager

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Chrystine Goff - Posted on 20 January 2023

I do find it hard to get through to the practice by phone, but as I only live a few minutes away I can call in, find the receptionists polite and helpful, Doctors are understanding and found my questions were answered and everything was explained in great detail
