Review titled Security gone bananas
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 May 2025
I have a high regard for the nurses and doctors who are at Shoreham Street surgery. They are knowledgeable and give useful referrals when needed. However, the admin procedures and staff of late leave a lot to be desired. Recently a buzzer system was put in to gain access to the surgery, where you have to justify entry over an intercom. Before a person could just walk in - I can perhaps understand that some people might just come in who would cause a problem. However, when I gave my name and date of birth, showing that I was a legitimate patient - and the receptionist acknowledged as much - I still was not allowed in. It was obvious I was not there to create a problem. Furthermore, to make matters worse, I could mostly not understand the receptionist over the intercom. Even though she had my ID, she would not let me in so I could understand what she was saying. I was trying to schedule an appointment but could not make out what she was saying. While some security measures may have become necessary, are they meant to keep legitimate patients standing outside trying to communicate to a squawk box? I was finally able to hear that she was saying I should call for an appointment, which takes up to a half hour of waiting, though I was right there and could schedule it on the spot. This is not how a real patient should be treated, and it needs to stop.

Review titled So Hard to Get an Appointment!
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Tze - Posted on 03 March 2025
Back in September 2024 when I first registered with this GP and felt very happy with it, I believe their service has drastically deteriorated over the last few months. My father was new to the Surgery. Took him about 5 days to get registered. And I had to call the surgery to ascertain the registration because no confirmation was given to me at the time. Then around Feb 23, 2025 I called to make an appointment for a blood test for my father. Was given one for March 10 and then a doctor's appointment for April 1! Well if a person can wait that long, may be he really doesn't need a doctor?! So I moved my father to another surgery and received prompt attention to fix everything. Just a thought - if it is actually possible for another surgery to serve their clients efficiently, then it is also true that Shoreham has a long way to catch up. At least please give it a try, Shoreham.

Review titled Very Friendly Nurses
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Tze - Posted on 08 November 2024
I had to go in for a blood draw on October 31. No one likes to see a needle pushed into a vein I suppose. Yet the nurse was so friendly and skilful that the whole ordeal was unnoticeable. It was in fact almost a joyful matter! The Nurse was also very careful to read over the computer notes and realized that some added tests have been prescribed so she meticulously added those to the list she already had on hand. Great job well done!
