I came for a routine smear with the nurse, she was kind, reassuring and informative and made me feel really relaxed throughout the process.

  2. Review titled The Appointment System Means I Do Not Have A GP Service

by Lynne Catherine Voyce - Posted on 03 April 2024

Trying to get an appointment at this practise is a persistent problem. I would say that I do not have a GP service, although my taxes pay for such. Again, I have tried to get a routine appointment and it basically becomes a full time job - and there is no guarantee that it will happen. This has been going on for years. I have spent fifteen minutes today and will persevere in the 'bingo queue' in the morning, and so on and so on. Luckily, I have few days off work to devote to trying to get an appointment for a months time.

  3. Review titled Impossible to get an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Teresa - Posted on 30 April 2024

Tried to call the surgery multiple times to book an appointment starting at 8 am and then exactly at 1 pm however, the iline was either already at full capacity or my call got stuck when I was caller number 3 ( this happened when I called around 10 am and 1:40 pm). I also tried with the NHS app but it only shows available phlebotomist or vaccination appointments. I had the same issue in the past but never complained before. This time it was too much as I also went there in person just to be told to call back by phone at 1 pm, then I called exactly at 1 pm (really exactly) and the line was already at full capacity.

  4. Review titled Unable to get an appointment

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Ranbir Bains - Posted on 28 February 2024

I would not describe myself as vulnerable but my heart goes out to those that would describe themselves as such. I have been unable to get an appointment have tried via NHS app and by ringing the surgery. I appreciate this problem is a national scandal however Sherwood Practice could do better than merely informing patients their lines are full to capacity and to ring back. Knowing the same message will be announced. Perhaps they could suggest a more likely way to get an appointment. Or just tell patients they are no longer offering a GP service.

Dear Ranbir Thank you for the e-mail. We are sorry that your experience has been less than satisfactory. Surgery always strives to provide a caring and approachable environment. In relation to your last statement - 'or tell patients they are no longer offering a GP service' last week alone we saw over 1200 patients. Today 29.02.2024 @ 9.32am we had the following appointments showing on the NHS APP. 8 Web telephone appointments for today 29.02.2024 1 face to face for the 07.03.2024 1 telephone appointment for the 01.03.2024 1 telephone appointment for the 07.03.2024 We understand the frustration Patients are feeling and are looking at ways to address issues - We are in the process of looking at a new phone system. The phone capacity of 20 callers, calling the Surgery at any one time was set by the Surgery PPG group (Patient Participation Group) We would appreciate if you could contact us directly so that we may resolve any issues you may have.

Dear Mr Crawley, We are sorry that your experience has been less than satisfactory. The Practice always aims to provide a caring and approachable environment. I believe you may be a new Patient to the Surgery - if this is the case, then you will need to arrange a telephone/face to face appointment with a GP to go over your medication requirements before medication is put on repeat. I have looked at your online access and you have the same access as other Patients, so ordering repeats once the appointment has taken place and medication has been agreed, will be shown on the APP. You can book appointments via the APP as well as calling the Surgery. The Practice is in the process of changing the phone system to one, which we believe will benefit the Patients. We would appreciate it if you can contact the Surgery direct so that we may resolve any further issues you may have. Kind regards

  6. Review titled Awful practise

Rated 1 star out of 5

I phoned this morning at 9am for a call back for my father who is 95 and was very chesty and having difficulty breathing. After waiting in a queue for 28 minutes I was told that “sorry we have no appointments for today, ring back tomorrow” this is totally unacceptable for a surgery, a phone call takes 5 minutes and to be told to ring back tomorrow is totally unacceptable. I had to phone an ambulance for my father as there was no other way he would get treatment, which puts extra strain on the ambulance service when the GP should have phoned him back. This surgery has obviously taken on too many patients and cannot cope with the demand. Appalling and disgusting service, avoid this surgery at all costs!

  7. Review titled Trouble getting appointments

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 October 2023

I have been with this practice forever and I have nothing but praise for the staff and especially the Doctors. However getting an appointment is ridiculous in the extreme. Phone at 8 phone at one etc and impossible to book on nhs app unless for bloods or shingles. I have been on antidepressants or Peroxetine 40mg per day for over twenty years and am having to ration my meds because only got 2 days worth left and because of this am feeling unwell with brain zaps etc I explained this to reception and was told phone at 8 or 1 I’m going to be quite ill if I run out. All I want is phone consultation to give the ok for prescription. It is very frustrating. And affecting my mental health. The system needs an overhaul for booking appointments. It’s not fit for purpose

  8. Review titled One of the worst

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 October 2023

It's no-one's fault that booking is in high demand, but what I find impossible to understand is that when someone needs medication, that's running out, to the point that the person is rationing them (which they should not and should not have to do), there should be a way other than "try again at 8 am tomorrow morning", or "you can book online too". You go online, and this silly form has a drop down list with only one item "web bloods". It is frustrating as hell. We only need a 5 mins chat with a doctor to give the go-ahead for medication someone has been taking for years and which they need in order to function. Why is it impossible to book a 5 mins phone conversation? What does the doctor even need to say , other than "your condition is chronic, this medication treats it, I am happy for you to continue taking it"? Why do we need to go through this idiotic rigmarole every 2 months? It actually worsens the person's condition. This cannot be right! A lot of this is not the practice's fault - there is something fundamentally wrong with requesting a review every two months for a condition that has been the same for literal years. However, what *is* the practice's fault is the hair trigger of the receptionists. Even when you speak to them calmly and with respect, they always seem ready to find something you said offensive. Jesus!

  9. Review titled No EpiPen!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 September 2023

EpiPen expired and when I call for an appointment, it says too many people in the queue so I can't even make an appointment. This happened so many times that my EpiPen has run out. I am due to do abroad and at risk of anaphylaxis because I can't make an appointment, as line is always inundated.

  10. Review titled Struggle to get emergency appointment

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 April 2023

There are no dr's appointments online available on the last two occasions in April 2023 when I have needed one. Phoning in March 2023 for an emergency appointment I start dialling Just before 8am chimes, but somehow others have already taken all the calls available. I just keep frantically phoning and in between the answer message telling me they're inundated, I did on the last ocassion manage to slip in at number 20. Not always so lucky. Mystified at the apparent 5* reviews about getting so easily! I can't remember when that last happened. If I do get through they've always been pleasant and helpful, but a shame for the pressure both sides are under.
