    Had a few experiences with the GP in the past few months both for my own health and my children's health. The online consultation is really efficient and I've had a quick call back the same day about the problem. All the GPs I've spoken with have been very friendly and polite and the treatment we've received as a family has been great. Thank you and keep up the good work!

    Had a phone call from the surgery for me to make an appointment for a diabetes check up. It was very easily arranged for me to have a telephone appointment with the diabetic nurse. Great friendly service, thank you.

    I recently had the terrifying experience of bringing my young daughter to the surgery with a non-blanching rash. I cannot praise the GP highly enough for his swift examination and for striking the perfect balance between underlining the urgency at which we needed to get to A&E but also reassuring me that he felt everything would probably be ok, and to encourage me to try not to panic. He called ahead so A&E knew we were coming. He then rang A&E again and contacted me 2-3 times to check up on my daughter. Thankfully all was fine and I hope I never have to go through anything as traumatic but if I do, I hope I have these doctors by our side. Another male GP at the practice has also repeatedly delivered us exceptional service, above and beyond what I have ever known a GP:practice to deliver. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all that you do, and did for us this past weekend; we truly value and appreciate you.

    After telling the receptionist I was in pain I was informed the quickest the doctor could see me was 5 weeks. I’ve been with this practice and it’s forerunners all my life (77 years) it’s a great shame to be told “it’s the soonest the computer will allow it”. Five weeks is a long time when you’re in constant pain. The doctor, when I saw him, was excellent.

    Dear patient, Thank you for leaving your feedback. I'm sorry that your recent experience of the surgery has not met your expectations. From 1st April 2023, a change in NHS England's guidance means that the surgery cannot book any appointments more than two weeks in advance. Where a patient is unable to wait for the next available appointment with a GP at Shay Lane Medical Centre, they will be directed to an NHS urgent care provider such as NHS 111, a community pharmacy, a walk in centre or A&E.     The practice has recently changed the way it is operated. No longer an online system, no triage system in place. Instead call at 8.30am for same day appointment if needed. Great if that system worked. It is luck of the drawer who gets in the telephone queue first. Regardless of your need, if your a child, elderly, infection etc there are no appointments left if you were not quick enough to get a quicker position in the queue, you are told to use NHS 111, Trafford Walk in or call back tomorrow. 3 days continuous calling for a 5 year old with a raging ear infection to keep being told no more appointments left. There seems to be no prioritisation of clinical need in the system. Just luck of your place in the telephone queue. Ring NHS 111 who divert you back to your practice during working hours, rightly so. Trafford Walk in centre is a long way away for many of us leaving just A&E which just isn't appropriate care for the vast cases. Your reception staff do a great job and are just following protocols however these protocols are not working for patients. A clinician should be informed if a child is requesting an appointment, or an adult for various "urgent" matters not just turned away to source other sources. Which by the way most of us have already used other services, ie pharmacy before coming to the practice as a last point of call. Disappointing to see the system in a mess like this.

    Dear patient, thank you for your feedback. I apologise the service the surgery has provided has not met your expectation on this occasion. The surgery reception team are trained to signpost patients to the most appropriate service. Many of these services are offered by the surgery, such as clinical pharmacists or musculoskeletal specialists, other services are offered under the wider umbrella of the NHS, such as NHS111 or walk in centres. The surgery constantly reviews the services and methods of patient access we offer to ensure we are offering the highest standards of patient care. I am saddened to say that your recent experience is not unique to Shay Lane Medical Centre however the surgery does offer an exceptional level of patient access when compared to the national average. If you have concerns that you do not have a walk in centre within a reasonable distance of your home, please do speak up to your local MP.     I’ve just had a follow up appointment. The doctor was highly professional, thorough and actually listened to me! He arranged appropriate investigations and fed back the results in a timely fashion as well as being most reassuring in his nature. Thank you!

    I am more than happy with the way I am treated by the Receptionists .The Nursing staff are also very helpful . The Doctors are very understanding and never make you feel you are wasting there time.
