  1. Review titled Appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Three times they had cancelled our appointment because the nurse was sick and notified through SMS. I had to call again to book an appointment and every time they book for another appointment after a month. If the appointment is cancelled due to NHS staff issue how the patient is responsible for this. One more issue i faced is for my baby where i have booked an appointment for vaccination,i went late by 10 minutes of my appointment time because the baby was crying and we need to calm them before i could reach the health practise, they refused to entertain and i had to rebook another appointment with a waiting period of one month where the second set of injections were due. With infant they have to be accommodative since they will be not be the same all the time. The receptionist was really rude and was constantly interrupted by another receptionist of walk in centre when i was speaking to the person of medical practise. This centre lacks empathy and they dont even understand the practical difficulties faced by the patient. I am extremely disappointed with the service of this GP and will not recommend it others.

  2. Review titled Medicines review

Rated 2 stars out of 5

They keep giving tiny missed calls while phone is in your hand and within less than a second call is disconnected and they then delay this for weeks Due to this break and wait in my medicines review my mental health is too much affected I believe they do it on purpose giving just a small missed call not even a call and then leaving the patient to wait or feel more upset without meds

  3. Review titled Appalling service

Rated 1 star out of 5

Phoned at 8 for an appointment, none left but was offered one in 2 weeks time. Called 111 who sent an urgent referral through, still no appointment available. Apparently an ‘urgent’ referral doesn’t mean you get to see a doctor……what??!!! Receptionist was rude, unprofessional and no help at all. Take my advice and avoid this practice……this has happened twice before for the same thing and I’ve ended up hospitalised. No interest in patient care, absolutely useless. Practices like this one are the reason people have to go to A & E.

  4. Review titled Horrible reception staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

No empathy, 6 hour waits, nip out for a bit because you feel ill and then you lose your appointment, get refused any treatment. The receptionist told me with a smirk that I need to come back tomorrow! Yeah thanks great service and care for those ill and in pain. Shame on you!!!

  5. Review titled No capacity

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I've been registered with this GP since 2 years back and always struggling to get GP appointment on time. You will have to wait minimum of 2 weeks to get seen by doctor. I feel the surgery is struggling with overwhelming registrations and has less bandwidth to serve the patients.

  6. Review titled Better than my GP!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Nadz0511 - Posted on 16 October 2022

I suspected my daughter had bacterial tonsillitis. After being fobbed off by NHS 111, who took over 7 hours to phone me back only to tell me that they didn't think she was high prority in needing treatment, I decided to take her to the walk in clinic at Shakespeare Medical Practice. We were in and out in 15 minutes, and my daughter was given a prescription for penicillin. If I'd tried to do this at my GP surgery, I'd have had to go to a pharmacy first and they would need to assess and refer us to get an appointment. I know this because it happened previously a few years ago, and they wouldn't refer us so I used this very service that time too. Hats off to the walk in service, its a saviour! More reliable than my GP surgery!

  7. Review titled Don’t use

Rated 1 star out of 5

Really inconvenient practice, difficult to use. Can’t order your prescription over the phone, have to go in person. Doesn’t have a website to do bookings or order meds. Paperwork goes missing (happened to both mine and my partners on separate occasions, waiting for a referral for over a year for X-ray only to find they lost form). Hardly any staff so no appointments and no call waiting system so have to keep trying until line isn’t engaged.

  8. Review titled Wouldn't recommend tbh

Rated 1 star out of 5

Please do not use this surgery, especially if you're a student. I've been calling for months about the same issue and nothing is being done, I feel completely fobbed off by the doctors, and when the GP's best advice is to 'go private' it really feels as though my problems are completely ignored. The fact this surgery is a 'student' practise really lulled me into a false sense of comfort, but no.

Dear Patient, I'm sorry to hear of your experience. At Shakespeare Medical Practice we are not a "Student Practice" but in fact open to all of the community. If your experience was from a visit or contact with Shakespeare Medical Practice rather than another “Student Practice”, we would really like to speak with you to discuss the experience you had with us. Without knowing what the problem/service you were looking to be supported with, it’s difficult to comment as to whether it would be covered under the NHS services contract. Patient care is very important to us, so please don’t hesitate to contact us on shakespeare.reception@nhs.net Best wishes, Surgery Team
