  1. Review titled No longer a service!!

Rated 1 star out of 5

Since merging surgeries there are now 4 part-time gp's & 2 Locum's .. that is it!!! To cover how many patients? My mother is seriously unwell with numerous issues, new medication took weeks to be issued to the chemist, and still no diagnosis. I was prescribed a medication for heavy bleeding over 8 weeks ago and the chemist contacted me yesterday with it!! Can't give a time to receive a phone call? it's a simple diary booking system, surely am/pm isn't too much to ask. The Dr rang me whilst I was in a shop and expected me to discuss my personal and private health in a shop, this should be conducted in a safe, private & confidential environment. Very rarely people there if you do go to the medical centre, they all seem to be acting like we are still in a pandemic. Receptionists do not have the skills or qualifications to comment or give results over the phone but they do. Soon if not already they will cause a very serious situation resulting in someone's death. I understand "triage" but this should be done at a qualified level of competency to make the decision not receptionists who can freely access private medical records. The entire system is shocking and those who can afford Private will be able to see their NHS GP quicker but pay him/her for the 'privilege'.

  2. Review titled Inadequate

I and my family are not able to access care and treatment in a timely manner. Been trying all week now - everyday told to call back dead on 8am. When call at 8, in a queue - then by the time get to 1 in queue it has been over 30min or an hour and told, no doctor available have to call at 8am next day (and this repeated). Today, called 8am and machine said not taking calls. Then called 8:01 and told high volume of calls and not able to put me in queue cos of that. Have a smear test to book and an MRI scan to discuss - my health at real potential risk. Yesterday when called, told no appointments at all for next week yet also told only do appointments for the day so call tomorrow dead on 8am which i did. Told online booking is for if cancellation comes up can book slot and not for booking available in a week or so (just cancellations that day). My concerns have not been taken seriously and has been ignored twice already (no response). Practice rated 'Requires Improvement' on Care Quality Commission' (last inspected 27/09/2023) but point around patients accessing service not changing and remains the same. Only luck gets appointment but more than often, very difficult. Also, system excludes working people and children who go to school if have to go same day or have to respond to phone call any time same day (which is the case for telephone consultations). Will not allow you to visit reception to make appointment as described in website. Will not make available an online booking system where by at least 6 months calendar on so can book an appointment (probably cos of fear of missed appointments maybe??). Have already suggested this to surgery but ignored. Solutions are obvious so hard to understand why refusal to make appropriate changes to protect patients and meet their care needs in timely manner. Not sure this review will matter because the reviews already coming in but just same pasted reply so you may not be reading all of this one. Change has been for the worst and this surgery has lost interest in the needs of patients over their own needs its seems. would prefer if response was something like "will explore solutions to the issue you have raised here. if, however, you still feel this issue has not been resolved within 3 months, please call our senior team leader to discuss and hopefully we will eventually resolve the issue to enable us to provide the best service of care possible for all our patients. your feedback is invaluable." Those of you out there, please feel reassured that you are not alone although this is little comfort to you when you have health issues and are reliant on this being identified and treated by this surgery which is currently failing too many of its patients. I am sorry and really do hope they will read our messages and pleas for care and actively listen (that is, do something to meet our needs). I will call the number after the surgery responds to this message and hear what they say.

  3. Review titled Extremley Shocking GP pratice

You have to ring in every day to try and book an appointment to see a doctor. I needed a regular blood test to check my cholesterol the receptionist actually made a mistake and missed one of the cholesterols, so after taking time off work I had to re book another blood test and review with a receptionist as I couldn't do so with a doctor! my repeat prescriptions are always incorrect, I'm appalled with this very shocking GP practice and service and I have no faith left with this GP service!

Cannot get an appointment to see a GP. Pre-booked a telephone consultation 9 days in advance, told them to make a note I was working in a prison so phone call would have to be after 4pm. Rang 2 days prior to appointment to ensure there was a note on the system to call after 4pm. This was confirmed. I checked my phone on lunch on day of appointment and had two missed calls at 9am and 11am. I called them, asked them to call again after 4pm as requested, got told even though there is a note on the system they cannot guarantee this, so stuck between a rock and hard place, I have my own business, I have to work, I cannot wait around all day waiting for a phone call. But guess what......they didn't call after 4pm. Useless really, pay my taxes for nothing.

  5. Review titled Email address link does not work; sign of much wider issues?

Rated 1 star out of 5

Hi. After a number of recent experiences, I am starting to think that this surgery has some serious issues in delivering any standard of patient care. In the first instance, I think it right that I take these up with the surgery direct. However, at the most basic level, please can you update the contact Email address to one which is current / functional? This simply reinforces the suspicion that you simply do not want your patients to be able to contact you.

  6. Review titled Extremely disappointing practice.

Rated 1 star out of 5

I don't understand the rationale behind the appointment system at this surgery. I called to make an appointment for my son, he is at school, I am at work - his need isn't urgent, but he does need to see someone; yet you can only book appointments for the day you call - that's if you eventually get through and there is an appointment available. Surely there has to be some way of booking appointments in advance? Not every condition needs to be seen on the day? People need to plan appointments around work/school etc? Most work places will ask you book appts either end of the day - I can't start work at 8am, begin the painful process of calling the surgery at 8am and then say right, I've got to go now for a Dr's appt, sorry! Makes me wonder how many patients that do need to be seen urgently, give up at the sound of 'We are experiencing a high volume of calls etc etc' and then sorry all of the appts for today have gone or can you get here for 10.10am today. Terrible, terrible service. All hospital outpatient services are back to normal so there is no reason whatsoever, for this type of sub-standard service. The standard copy & pasted reply isn't necessary either about the amount of call centre reps that you have - that doesn't help patients understand the appointment slots and the booking 'system' that you have. When this surgery was on Pages Lane, it was brilliant. The service was great, but since the move it's just been hideous.

  7. Review titled Declining service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I rang to check my blood test results, receptionist told me they are satisfactory, I asked about a couple of key ones as they were high previously, she told me they were satisfactory but one was slightly high and at the same time she told me she was not clinical which I get. I had slightly borderline cholesterol last time and was keen to find out what they were but again as she was not clinical she could not say which I understand. What is the point of a blood test nowadays if you cant receive confirmation from your GP to let you know how the results are. The medical Centre has just gone down hill, seeing different Dr doesn't help- the last one told me to take anti-inflammatories but I'm allergic. Had the gp bothered to read up on my notes before she saw me would have been helpful. Good job i was on the ball. So dissapointed with the joining of these practices because no GP cares anymore.

  8. Review titled Extremely Poor service.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Michael Breakwell - Posted on 15 August 2023

Since merging several surgery's together, somehow the Scott Arms medical practice has nose dived, and from feeling I like a patient, I now feel like a number and more importantly, an inconvenience to them, and that my health no longer matters. I Struggle to get an appointment, as I work and can't be sitting on my phone from 8am every morning, yet you can't book an appointment on the nhs app with them either. I have messaged practice to say such and ask if they can make an appointment for me, and was just told if you want an appointment you must call. They only have one phone number, so regardless of what your calling for, you wait in one queue, the last time I tried when I was an annual leave, I waited over 1 hour and a half. Service is appalling, and yet they don't seem to care! I know several people have all experienced the same, so I am not alone here. I just want an appointment, like in the old days when you were based in pages lane!

  9. Review titled Credit where it's due

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I've had cause to call twice and visit once this week. Although it takes some time to get through on the phone I have to say the staff have been lovely and professional once you get through. On visiting today the reception lady was very friendly and welcoming. The phone system really lets the Surgery down.
