Trying to secure an appointment at Schopwick Surgery has become an exercise in futility. Despite their claims of an unchanged phone system, the reality for patients like myself is a relentless cycle of disappointment and frustration. The process supposedly begins at 8:30 am, yet by 8:31 am, all available appointments miraculously vanish, leaving callers stranded with nothing but a dial tone. Attempting to express this experience to the receptionists yields nothing but denial, as they parrot the scripted response: "our phone system has not changed." What's even more infuriating is the dismissive manner in which concerns are handled. Any attempt to plead one's case is met with interruption and ultimately, the abrupt end of the call. It's a blatant disregard for patient grievances and a shameful display of customer service. Regrettably, the decline in service quality at Schopwick Surgery, an institution serving the South Herts community since 1931 and once recognised as "outstanding" by the Care Quality Commission, has become glaringly evident. It's disheartening to witness the deterioration of such a historically significant and esteemed establishment into a bureaucratic nightmare, where patient care takes a back seat to administrative incompetence. My experiences with Schopwick Surgery continue to leave me feeling disillusioned and abandoned. It's high time for management to acknowledge these glaring issues and take concrete steps to rectify them. Until then, patients like myself will continue to suffer the consequences of their ineptitude.

Overall, demand for appointments is extremely high compared to resources we have available. We are trying our very best to manage demand and improve access. I always find the practice to be very prompt responsive and thorough . The doctors and staff I speak to are helpful. A great GP practice.

Needed help with unobtainable medication. The Pharmacist not only sourced it for me but sent the prescription to the alternative pharmacy within minutes to ensure I was not without. Excellent.

I have never had an issue with Shopwick surgery. The new patches system the receptionists and the Doctors are all professional, understanding , and efficient I think they are a very very well run practice. I cannot fault them. 5 star all round

Amazing from contacting the GP..the receptionist was first class and really friendly..as well as doing what she could to support me. The doctor was brilliant. He listened and even arranged follow-ups ..thank you and amazing all the way.

I have been a patient at this practise for 52 years. I have always received excellent care from all staff in the practise.The care for my severly learning disabled son has been first class. The patient understanding of his behaviours regarding examinations, blood tests and vaccinations means he is now confident to attend any appointment and not totally dependent on the senior nurse for treatment. the liason person prompts his appointments and every one is flexible and willing to cooperate to meet his needs in a very person centred way. This makes a huge difference to me as stress is reduced and I am seen as a partner in his care which I value. I have nothing but praise for the service we have experienced and this I hope is a way of thanking all at Schopwick.

I have always received excellent & efficient help from Schopwick Surgery (mainly Bushey branch). Staff are efficient & follow through with any enquires or issues, from Reception to GP & everyone behind the scenes, who are not always appreciated. Thank you for looking after me.

I have been a patient of this practice for about 8 years and have been impressed all along by the combination of professional excellence of all the team combined with a truly holistic approach to patient care. They also employ technologly like Patches in a helpful way to make contacting the surgery simpler and always respond in a timely manner to requests for appointments and prescriptions etc. The Patient Liason group has run helpful Zoom meetings to enable patients to learn how to use the new technologies. Recently following a Covid infection I had persistent fatigue and brain fog consistent with Long Covid. The practice Covid specialist nurse and practice pharmacist arranged tests to exclude other pathology before refering me to the Long Covid Service. The Long Covid Service has provided practical strategies to manage symptoms and set goals as I slowly move along my path to recovery. I am very happy and grateful to be under the care of this great team.

New to the surgery and so far they have been amazing. Yes it’s a little annoying to fill in the form online but they get back to you so so quickly and with the person most likely to be able to help. The Pharmacist I spoke to was extremely patient and understanding. Very happy so far with this surgery - thank you Schopwick!
