Had a call with my Gp this morning to discuss some test results. She was fantastic at taking the time to explain them individually. She took the time to discuss all of my previous symptoms related and found some really useful solutions and next steps in my care.

  2. Review titled quite disappointing

The GP did not comply with the right guidance to make the appointment for me to do the MRI and when I come to the hospital, they strongly refused me to do. Also, the recepitionist had the bad attitude towards to the patient and two different doctor gave two different views for my problem, so I don't know how to believe and to believe who. It's quite wasted of my time because I even request my annual leave to do the scanning and nothing to do for the day, it is totally disappointing.

Dear Patient, I have been able to identify you from the circumstances you described and because the staff notified me you were unhappy with the services available on the NHS. On Wednesday 19th July you registered with the Practice and were offered an appointment for the next day. The clinician who saw you, took a full history in which you stated you had been experiencing specific pain for more than a year. You were booked for blood tests and given an appointment for a few days later to see the specialist physiotherapist at the Practice. The blood testing took place on 21st July and our physiotherapist having seen you on the 25th then requested you have an X-ray. That same day, you were advised all the blood results had come back within normal range. On 30th July you attended the local X-ray department where I understand they declined to carry out the test. Their reasoning being that the result would not change the management of your pain, so it was deemed ill-advised to expose you to unnecessary radiation. You were referred back to the Practice for other pathways to be considered. On the 3rd August, the doctor who saw you decided to refer you for an MRI scan. He admits being influenced by how upset you were at the hospitals refusal, but he also felt that an in-depth tissue scan may provide some answers. This did not reflect a different view to the previous clinicians just that if an x-ray having been deemed of little value, another option could be considered. Neither clinician gave a confirmed diagnosis, just possible causes for your symptoms. I am not aware how much contact you have had with the NHS, but it is commonplace for high level scans to take many weeks, which I understand the doctor explained to you in some detail; however, you were still clearly angered it would not take place within days. In answer to your enquiry as to possible cost, if undertaken privately, the doctor gave an estimate based on his limited knowledge of private health care. At this point, you disengaged from the consultation, turning away from the doctor, and refusing to communicate with him. As you declined to answer his enquiry as to whether you wished to proceed with the NHS referral, your partner spoke on your behalf and the doctor generated a referral which was emailed that day to the provider. I am sorry you feel the NHS does not meet your expectations in relation to timeframes, or clinical decisions. However its clear you have received prompt appropriate primary care, and suitable referrals have been generated for further investigations. The NHS is free at the point of contact and services are offered relative to clinical priorities and based on presenting symptoms. Kind regards PM

I use the online consultation facility and had a callback within 12 hours. The GP had pre-read my submission, looked through my medical history and was able to give a speedy response.

  4. Review titled Five ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ GP Surgery.

Very impressed with this Gp Surgery. Receptionists are friendly and efficient. Every time I’ve contacted them, they have picked up the phone promptly and helped with my queries efficiently. The building is very clean. You can always see the maintenance gentleman walking around getting the place sorted. The outside door is always closed for patients to ring the bell. One of the receptionists then lets you in quickly once they confirm you’ve got an appointment. I think this is great as it avoids the place getting crowded with people who doesn’t need to be there. The Healthcare Assistant I saw was efficient, caring and very knowledgeable. I have not seen a Practice Nurse yet, but my regular Gp is excellent. He has always been approachable, compassionate and very holistic. Qualities highly appreciated when struggling with mental health. Overall, a very efficient Gp Surgery that demonstrates how wonderful Nhs Primary Care can be when there’s great teamwork and management. Keep up with the good work! 👏👏👏

  5. Review titled Shame

Rated 1 star out of 5

I've been with this practice for a decade and when I first joined it was very good, sadly it's just gotten worse and worse over time. When you actually speak to a doctor I've found all of them to be pretty nice and helpful, but the administrative process here is nothing short of a nightmare. Getting an appointment or even a response to an e-consult takes ages, as does getting tests booked and then receiving any results, but the most frustrating aspect of it all is that once you've finally gotten an appointment and had some tests done, if the tests are normal the practice a) doesn't tell you and b) considers the matter closed, as if just receiving the news that a couple of tests were negative means your original complaint/issue is now gone forever. This has happened to me twice in the past year, and when I raised it with the receptionist she "explained" that their policy was apparently not to notify people of negative tests (ok, sure) but also to refuse to schedule any further appointments on the issue! When asked what this meant I should do about my ongoing issue, she simply hung up on me. Probably should avoid this practice unless you have endless reserves of patience.
