  2. Review titled Armed Forces Veteran Accredited GP Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I am a veteran of 39 years service. Can you confirm that you are till an Armed Forces Veteran Accredited GP Practice and have a dedicated doctor? My wife call the surgery today to try and make an appointment for myself but my doctor was not available. However, when my wife asked about the dedicated doctor for veterans they did not seem to know what she was talking about. On explaining what a "Veteran" was my wife was told by the Surgery staff that they had never heard of it!!

Dear Patient. Thank you for your feedback. I can confirm we are still an Armed Forces Veteran Accredited GP Practice with a dedicated doctor, Dr Neill Bramble, information regarding this can be found on our practice website using the following link: https://www.riversidesurgery.co.uk/patient-information/armed-forces-veteran-accredited-gp-practice/ We have a number of new staff in the practice who clearly have not been made aware of this facility so we will ensure that this will be rectified today. Please accept our apologies for any concern caused and we would be more than happy to help should you or your wife need to recontact us on this issue. The Riverside Surgery Team

  3. Review titled Patients are customers

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by OneOfYou - Posted on 29 April 2022

I received a letter advising to contact surgery to arrange a telephone consultation regarding blood results. Called and I'm 35th in a queue. After approximately 40 minutes the receptionist nonchalantly advises the GP is not doing calls today and I need to call next week Wednesday. I am a health professional and how a service could be run on the basis of such poor inconsiderate customer service is beyond me. I cannot imagine what the experiences of older adult customers must be like. I'm well aware of the pressures all aspects of the healthcare system, but a bit of creative thinking and empathy would lead to a better customer experience in many instances.

Dear OneOfYou Thank you for your feedback. Firstly, please accept our sincere apologies for any distress caused by this situation and that you felt we did not meet the standards expected of us as it is never our intention to upset our patients. We will use this information as part of a review and discuss the issues raised with the reception team. This will give the team an opportunity to reflect on their actions and understand what they could have done differently to prevent these types of incidents occurring in future. Unfortunately, recently we have had several occasions where we have had limited staff due to covid isolation rules for healthcare workers. This impacted on how many staff were available to answer telephone calls and caused significant delays to patients queueing on the telephone. Hopefully we may soon see things improve as the guidance changes. Once again, please accept our apologies for your dissatisfaction of our service. However, if you need to speak to your doctor, have any further feedback or alternative suggestions in the meantime please let us know.

  4. Review titled Non Private Call

Rated 3 stars out of 5

On a recent call to my Dr I could hear phones ringing and people talking in the background. As I was discussing a personal condition I thought it vet unprofessional that other people could obviously hear the conversation between myself and my Dr. I thought all discussions were private and confidential. I felt unable to discuss my condition in full and very embarrassed. I am thinking of switching practices.

Dear Anonymous Thank you for your feedback. Please contact the surgery and ask to speak to the Practice Manager so we are able to clarify in more detail the exact date and time this consultation took place. We will then be able to investigate your concerns fully and determine why the situation arose. The Riverside Surgery Team
