  1. Review titled Best NHS practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I’m a recently new patient, but the care that I’ve received from day one has been exceptional. I submitted a patch request and the doctors instantly responded and I was provided an Appointment within 2 days. The doctor showed care and knowledge made me feel at ease. The nurses I saw were also very kind and polite. Even having blood test were done gently and easily. The staff are really friendly and actually care about your health. Registration was almost instantly processed. Which is faster than any other GP that I’ve ever been with. The doctors take time to listen to your problems and you don’t feel rushed nor do they speak on your behalf based on previous consultations or online requests. They somehow manage to give appointments really quickly. I have nothing but praise for this surgery. I don’t know how they do it, but they must share their secrets to other gp surgeries out there so they can also improve their care. The waiting times are not long at all. There is better diagnosis of issues. More time and care put into each consultation. Any queries that I’ve had has been handled very quickly and professionally. Accessing appointments is fabulous. They’re happy to help in person, through patchs and via nhs app. Everything is just seamless and I haven’t ran into a single issue since joining. Even the phone lines don’t have a long wait time (I do not call first thing in the morning it may be busier during that time. Prior to registering, I heard nothing but good reviews about the surgery. Their website is well laid out even providing information on which specialties each doctor has e.g. frailty or diabetes. Great surgery thank you to all staff members. It’s been much appreciated thank you for everything you do for us patients. :)

  2. Review titled Exceptional service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kath Kelley - Posted on 14 March 2025

Last week whilst looking after grand kids on the south coast I developed an infection I called for a telephone consultation. I was called at 9 am and after providing a photo of the infected area a prescription was issued to a chemists near where I was staying I was also given clear and strict instructions what to do if I felt worse. Subsequently, the chemist closed early and would not have been available to issue the prescription So, called reception explained and she very quickly said she would email DR …. He called me again and sent the prescription to an alternative chemist. All in all marvellous and I am really grateful Wonderful service Thanks Dr ….and Richford gate.

  3. Review titled Absurdly patronising receptionist.

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Nicholas Chase - Posted on 09 October 2023

Normally I would never leave a review of a GP surgery, I understand it is complicated and underfunded and we are lucky to have the NHS we do. Richford Gate has been excellent and I generally find it to be an efficient surgery with excellent doctors. However, there is a receptionist there that is so rude it is almost amusing. Calling on the morning of 9th Oct 2023 at 08:15, after the usual tutting preamble and condescending tone while I explained my issue, I was told to 'send a nice and polite email' to the prescriptions address and they might be able to help me, when she reiterated the 'nice and polite' requirement I felt compelled to remind her say I was not a child with all due respect would prefer not to be patronised. I have been on the receiving end of her inquisitorial and suspicious line of questioning before and assume that the numerous reviews that mention a 'very rude receptionist' are all about the same person. It is such a shame. I am sure it is a stressful and often thankless job, but there is more than an inkling that this particular individual really enjoys the power she can wield over callers that may well be in distress.

  4. Review titled Very professional

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Liz Cooper - Posted on 03 August 2023

As an 85 year old in a quandary as to whether I should go on holiday in 6 days time as I had an unexpected symptom, the Doctor was very knowledgeable about the symptom and explained the timescale of possible treatment. It therefore provided me with the relevant information with which to make my decision. Post Cript I am going on holiday!
